dog_day_sunrise
I've picked up my new bike to replace the Thundercat I purchased for a pittence a while ago. It's a 2001 Triumph TT600- the first of the fuel injected sports bikes, as English as my penis and proper riot to ride. As I've got the BMW as an everyday slogger, and the Audi Avant as a poor-weather transport, I've decided that the TT is going to become a road legal track weapon. This is my build thread. As bought, the bike came essentially as standard. Mods so far include: -EBC brake pads -K&N airbox filter -Home-bodged intercom system -HID kit -2003 TT600 software flash And plenty of f**king crash damage from a previous owner. On order/awaiting fitting: -Race-spec lightweight FRP bodywork in white, black and blue -Scorpion race-spec carbon exhaust -Lightweight alloy sprocket Further plans include: -Cam regrind -Homemade custom ram air intake -Öhlins shocks -Speed Triple 4-piston Brembo conversion with floating disks -Rolling road remap -Lightened and balanced crank, conrods and balancing shafts Stripped down for the fitting of the HID kit and free-flowing air filter: Carbon race exhaust- not yet fitted... This thread will be updated as progress is made...
stretch.
Looks like a good project to follow, How was it crashed? I see some road rash on it, was it just slipped?
dog_day_sunrise
Looks like a good project to follow, How was it crashed? I see some road rash on it, was it just slipped? It's been slipped on a rounabout (under an HGV apparnetly), dropped twice and, perhaps most ammusingly, reversed into literally AS I was buying it. I didn't photograph the other side as it's properly knackered, most of the bodywork is held together by a combination of duct tape and epoxy resin. I've known the guy who owned it for ages and we met at a local pub to check it over, have a drink and establish a price. Was sitting outside having a smoke when some drunken old man staggered out, got into a Transit van, and reversed straight into it. Slowed down the buying process significantly, as he had to write the bike off then buy it back from the insurance company- I then offered him the cost of buying it back. The old bloke got disqualified for drink driving.

stretch.
Sounds like a comedy of errors! I'll be keeping a definite eye on this though!
dog_day_sunrise
Currently hunting for some lightweight carbon Formula-1 style mirrors, but it's looking like I might need to get them custom made. Also ordered some very short-stalked carbon fibre indicators.
dog_day_sunrise
Got something a little bit special in the post today... It's my lightweight bodywork. £240 for the bodywork complete with paint, it's lightweight fibreglass with an epoxy covering, sprayed just how I requested and ready to go on the bike. Sorry the pictures are poor, I've been out on the lash tonight and not thought to get any pics beforehand. It's still in it's wrapping, but should be fitted prior to my mission to Germany. The bodywork weighs roughly 1/3 of that of the standard moulded plastic, and needs its fitment holes drilling. Its going to be secured by race-style stainless steel motorsport 1/4 turn fasteners drilled through the standard bodywork holes. Should look pretty tasty. The 'Ring is less than a week away...need some Triumph stickers plus a nice list of all the aftermarket parts to fill the black section at the bottom of the fairing. So far thats EBC, Scorpion Exhausts, Nissin, K&N and Öhlins. Will get them ordered tomorrow...

dog_day_sunrise
I gotz my lightweight bodywork on. I'm off to Passau, on the German/Austrian border tomorrow. Hitting the 'Ring and the Alps on the way, should be gone for about a week, but have got my 3G laptop so will keep you all updated. Bodywork is now on. I finished it at 9PM tonight so all the pictures are sh*te, but they give a basic jist of how the bike looks. Race exhaust is also on now, along with micro-mini indicators and new brake pads. Crash bungs were fitted yesterday, whilst I drilled out the holes for the bodywork. Sorry for the crummy picture quality. Mmmm, Nurburgring....
