In Roman's mission "logging in" Niko has to activate his email account.

I completed that mission.After completing few other missions,I again went to internet cafe.Niko receives mail from Bruce.An image of vehicle which has to be stolen is also attached.

I also completed this car theft mission.

Then after few other missions I upgraded GTA IV from original retail version to version4.

Some error came,i fixed them.The game worked but later when I went to internet cafe I simply could not use computer.The message"Press E to use computer" was continuously popping out every time I pressed "E". what the f*ck!

 

I downgraded to version 2 but still problem persisted.So, I saved game data as described in GTAIV FAQ.And reinstalled the game.Placed savegame in their respecive places.But what the hell it could not load from that point.I simply had to play all the way from beginning.

 

right now I'm playing the original version and will continue to play till I figure out what was the problem.

Are you sure that you are not using a no DVD crack?

R* made internet cafes inaccessible if you're using a crack.

Yeah I bought legimate copy of GTA IV.If I hadn't then I couldn't be able to play car theft missions(played 2-3 missions) by checking mails from Brucie.I'm pretty sure that after I installed this crap patch v4,GTA IV became weird.

In that case, reinstall the game and apply the patch manually from outside the game. If it still doesn't help, you might need to revoke your license before reinstalling the game again.

I reinstalled the game,loaded my previous savegames and finally internet was reachable again.I tested with all 4 patches and only first patch let me use ingame computer.

I have a hard time believing that you have a legit copy of the game and aren't using any no-dvd crack. Not being able to access the in-game computers is an anti-piracy trigger that was introduced by R* from the second patch onwards, IIRC. No wonder only the first patch works.
