Arkane78
Is it possible to do this? I saw a video on youtube , showing a modded GTA 4 - the video had niko firing a pistol, yet when it hit the vehicles/people, it burst into flames. If you jump to 1:00 in - you will see it exactly. How can I duplicate this effect? I've downloaded the Mod that the video advertises but cannot find anything that changes the pistol. Does anyone have something similar they'd be willing to share or any ideas to point me in the right direction? I can make the pistol fire grenades that explode as molotovs, I just can't make it shoot fire-bullets. (There was a mod that modified bloodfx.dat to turn bullets into incendiary rounds but this stopped working after 1.0.1.0...) Thanks, A78
the hubster
You need to edit in explosionfx.dat, once you start looking in there you should be able to figure it out yourself. Edited August 23, 2009 by the hubster
Arkane78
I've looked in explosionfx.dat before and can't really see anything. I know the types of explosion are kept within it and by changing some of the projectile explosion-type I can change the explosion. However a pistol doesn't use projectiles, it uses bullets - I can make the pistol use projectiles, but that doesn't work. Sure it fires the projectile I give it - it explodes and molotovs - but that's still not what I'm looking for. It's almost like wanting to keep INSTANT_HIT AND do something else - if I keep it on INSTANT_HIT (in weaponinfo.xml) then it acts as if it simply uses bullets but doesn't cause the fire effect.
