sate
I have this black rectangular spot in the upper left corner of my monitor. When I run the cursor over it, the cursor disappears, and no matter which program I run the black spot still overlaps it. I've now installed the newest drivers (after the spot came) for my g-force 7800 series however it didnt change a thing. The black spot is still there.. I can't even take a screen shot since I can't get to paint in the start-> menu, because its hidden by this black spot. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this annoyance? I'm running Win XP MCD, SP3 G-force 7800 GT (I think) 24" LG monitor
Edmachine
I don't know much about these sort of problems, but it is possible that either your cable is broken or your video card and/or monitor is broken. To test the cable, hook it up to another PC. If the monitor shows a black spot, get a new cable. If it doesn't, try hooking up a different monitor to your PC. If that solves the problem, buy a new monitor (or use the one you hooked up ). If you can, change the video card. And if that solves the problem, get a new video card (or, again, use the one you switched it to). If the problem still persists, it might be the drivers, but it seems less likely since upgrading them didn't help. You could contact nVidia about the problem to see if they have a solution. Girish
If nothing of what Edmachine has said helps, then I think you might have a few dead pixels to deal with. If that's the case, then try some of the solutions listed at the bottom of this web page.
