Hi! To all users of GTAForums,

I'm getting 20-30 FPS in Lowest Settings indoors, but when i drive a car, it drops down to 15FPS so it's not playable. cryani.gifcryani.gifcryani.gif

So if somebody knows some performance tweaks that doesn't need any downloads, (I'm scared of things that will harm my PC) so please help me

358MB Intel GMA X3100

3GB RAM

320 GB HDD

This is your problem. Intel GPU's aren't good for gaming and that's why you're getting such low FPS rates. Also, 358MB isn't big. Go for a 512 MB Nvidia or ATi card which will boost your game considerably. There's no problem with the CPU, so, it's your graphics unit. Upgrade that and you'll see better performance.

Yeah, as carcarla said get an upgrade. If you play a lot of games, its going to be a pain gaming with that integrated intel graphics.

Otherwise, you'll have to settle for playing the game at lower settings:

Detail Level: Medium/Low

Resolution: 800x600

Frame Limiter: Off

AA: Off

On larger monitors, the game can appear badly stretched at low resolutions. To prevent that, you can run the game in windowed mode.

Turning Frame Limiter off might be a good idea. However, if you notice too much fluctuation in fps, then it's not. You can keep the Frame Limiter on and install the FPS Limit Adjuster found in the Downloads Database topic here to push the fps limit above 25.

Also, if you're using Vista, I'd recommend switching over to XP. The reason being your weak Intel video card. Although your RAM is sufficient for Vista, your video memory is not. Vista eats up some part of your VRAM too, thus, giving you issues with VRAM intensive games like San Andreas and such. This won't be a problem if you have a decent enough graphic card with at least 512 MB VRAM.

If you're already on XP, then as a last measure, you can turn off hardware sound acceleration.

Start > Run > Type 'dxdiag' > OK > Sound.

This might induce some audio lag in cutscenes but it'll give you some boost in fps.

Finally, I am getting 90-100 FPS indoors and 30-50 FPS Outdoors with Frame Limiter off, but can I ask one more question?

I've downloaded some car mods from GTAGarage.com today to mess up my GTA, but when i went to the game and drive the car mod i've downloaded, my FPS decreased while driving the car mod. Is it because the model is high-poly?

And to girishb: I am using Windows Vista Home Premium

Windows Vista is so complicated, and i don't like it, i cannot install older programs. But i can install newer programs. colgate.gifcolgate.gifcolgate.gif

And one thing my Video Card doesn't support Anti-Aliasing or AA.

Yes, most probably. If you have any issues, ask in this forum.

Newer programs work on Windows XP too.

And please don't double post. Use the EDIT button.

I just ate my food, while I'm in the kitchen, and when I returned to my room the fps of San Andreas dropped down from 40 to 20!

Can somebody help me to get 90fps?

(WITHOUT UPGRADING ANYTHING)

Maybe there's some tweaks, or tricks. If you know some pls tell me.
