ChanandlerBong
Got a brand new copy of SA from Amazon today. Installed fine on my PC first time. I decided I wanted to install it on another partition. So I uninstalled it and reinstalled it on another partition. Then I ran the game but after the Rockstar screen it says gtsa.exe has stopped working. I have tried everything, Compatibility mode, running as admin, cleaning registry, deleting the .set changing the DEP settings. My PC can definitely run it as it ran earlier. I'm running Vista Home Premium. Please help guys. EDIT: game not starting at all now. please reply. Girish
Moved to Troubleshooting. Have you disabled UAC from Control Panel? If not, do it. Also, try deleting the Virtual Store copy of the game located here: C:\Users\???\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas The Appdata folder might be hidden. Yep UAC is disabled. There no Rockstar Games folder in there. I already looked. I think I am just going to reinstall Windows. Thanks anyway. ChanandlerBong
Sorry for double post. So now I have reinstalled Vista and have been going throgh all the possible fixes. Compat. Mode-Didn't work Run as admin- Didn't work Deleting .set file- Is none because I haven't been able to play the game after reinstalling registry Clean- Didn't bother because Vista is a fresh install so there is no traces of anything else And for some reason, it won't let me delete the Virtual Store copy of the game. It says it's no longer in that location. Please help here, I am ripping my hair out over this. P.S The only thing I have done to the game is use the downgrade patch. Girish
Does it work without the downgrader patch? Have you tried installing it to a different partition? Try installing the game to the 'Documents' folder? This might sound weird, but given the f*cked up hierarchy if Vista, it has worked for a few people in the past. Also, which Service Pack of Vista do you have? Have you tried the latest SP2? Do you see a GTA San Andreas folder inside the Virtual Store folder I mentioned previously? Are you not able to delete it at all? Not even in Safe Mode?
lil weasel
Off the Wal:: Does your Registry still have entries showing the Original partition as having the game?
