theGANNER Posted August 22, 2009 Share Posted August 22, 2009 I recently started my pigeon hunt to get the 100% completion. Most of the time i fly to the locations and land nearby. At this point i have found 60 in total (Dukes and Broker) and it feels that you can get very close to the pigeons without the environment blocking you. In a few cases i landed on roofs which had balustrades that prevented you from getting a good aim at the pigeon. You could not climb that balustrades exept for one spot which provided a perfect aim at the flying rat in the alley underneath. Then there were roofs that could hardly be landed and you had to maneuver very careful. Allowing you to land and get out at the very edge of the roof with Nico almost falling to death. But they were never the less accurately measured... So what are your experiences with this? Did anyone do the same? Hunted all 200 in a helicopter? To me it seems that Rockstar's programers had that option in mind. It seems obvoius that the player will at least try to get them all by heli, escaping the one star "penalty" easily. Here is yours for first reply If you shoot a pigeon you get 1 star, if you continue shooting you get one more. Simple as that . Only tried it with pistol and sniper though, noobstyle... And every time I'm useing a black Patriot with the lights on the roof. On-topic: I like to use the Annihilator to shoot pigeons on the Statue of Happiness and around places crowded with police as you don't get a wanted level for shooting the miniguns off on it (I know that's f*cked up). For some reason the police treat the Annihilator miniguns more like melee than guns. EDIT: Yeah, the BradyGames guide is the best thing yet for shooting all 200 pigeons. I spent $20 on the guide just to get the pigeons. Haha I was that desperate to get them for 100%. . . . . . . . . . until I lost my 100%-no-cheats file. zmoonchild Posted August 22, 2009 Share Posted August 22, 2009 (edited) I’ve shot all 200 Flying Rats twice, and each time I did it at the very beginning of the game (while Algonquin and Alderney were still locked). For most of Algonquin and Alderney I used a Maverick, and hopped from building-top to building-top; primarily because it’s easier than avoiding cops on the ground with the accompanying 6-Star Wanted Level. There are several locations though where I had to land on the ground to get the Flying Rats, and about a dozen or so where I didn’t use a Maverick at all. For Broker/Dukes/Bohan I used a ground-based vehicle for the first time though, and alternated between vehicles (Maverick, bike, car) for the second time through. There are three Maverick spawn locations at the very beginning of the game, and the two spots in Alderney are very easy to get a new one. The spawn-point in Algonquin doesn’t appear as often, so I didn’t use it as much. I might be wrong, but I think that the Algonquin Maverick spawn location appears more often if approached from a certain direction, and that’s why I didn’t see it as much. I started to shoot them and wanted to save after every ten because autosave does not work here. So I went to the 10th and used a Helitours-Maverick. I landed it on the roof and stepped out of it, only to see it spin around and crush on my head. Looked great though. I tried it again and found out, that the Helitours-Mav sinks a bit into the ground. The backpart of the vats is not programed properly. I find it entertaining to search for proper landing spots, so hunting 200 isnt that bad. I have jet to find out if the monster stunts are fun too... urban_legend_18 Posted August 22, 2009 Share Posted August 22, 2009 well theyre a real pain considering you dont even get a proper reward for doing them and there are a fair amount that are in akward places, the heli is the quickest way to do it as it cuts down traveling times between them which is good. TopHat01 Posted August 23, 2009 Share Posted August 23, 2009 The stunt jumps are pretty easy, a fast car/bike and a pair will get you through them all...except a couple that are either tucked away or in police hotspots... All pigeons in Bohan, Dukes and Broker eleminated It seems that it continues to be heli-friendly. I was as at the Perestroika and had a very good sniper aim from a building on the right. Even the Big Wheel in Firefly Island had one spot where you could perfectly aim through all the rods. Went on and did all the unique stunt jumps (17) there too. A little advise: dont over-do it. I managed to do 16 with a bike but the last one wasnt about going as fast and wide as you can. Bikes make you go pretty fast and I found myself jumping over the right landing spot... urban_legend_18 Posted August 23, 2009 Share Posted August 23, 2009 i find the best way to not overdo the stunt jumps is by using a sanchez as it has enough speed but not too much and is easier to land then a car. Talk about multi-tasking: flying, shooting and taking a pic with my cam to tell a friend about it. He is giving it a try too. This type of pigeon hunting gives "heli-friendly" an other meaning... Too bad I only have 50 pigeons left And on Stunt Jumps: I did the 4* one and I liked getting chased on foot and by helicopter. Nice atmosphere. Saved this one for last. Also, yeah that jump is epic just barging into the CC's grounds with a bike, going up the stairs, taking the ramp to get to the top of the building with the jump, doing the jump, taking the ramp to get off the grounds, and then escaping a four star wanted level with cops shooting at you.
