swooner
sorry swooner, but 5:30 est is a little too early for me. i'm not home from work til 7 on wednesday, so i'll have to pass. add me on live and if you ever see me on and need an extra gun to shoot cops, i'll help. it's one of my favorite things to do in free mode. i can hold those pigs off for hours with 6 stars. Sideshow, is that your normal work time for Wednesdays? I'm trying to set a fixed day & time that would work for both US & UK time zones. Let me know if there is a better day via post or PM. I'm looking for players who can stay alive & work together. I'd like to bring some campaign scenarios/mini games into the fray as well. Boozy, Timmobile (is that his GT to invite?) is absolutely welcome to join in the carnage. The more the merrier. We'll discuss some simple concepts tonight while droppin coppers... xxxSIDESH0Wxxx
swooner, trying to find a good time for both the US and UK is one of the most difficult tasks when creating events. i've pulled my hair out a few times trying to sort it out in the past. lol, i just went thru each day in my head and i've realized that i'm not free at 5:30 EST on any day. lol. the best you can do is find a time good for the majority. there will always be a couple people it doesn't work for,no matter what time it is. my schedule limits my ability to particpate in many events here. i'm used to it. sometimes i take wednesdays off of work, just for the hell of it, so maybe i can be a sub occasionally. swooner
So it's 8 hours, 33 minutes from the time of this post? Yessir, Kinko! Sideshow: Hopefully, on a sick day we can have you join in for a Liberty City invasion. Thanks for the response, we may have some weeks where we move the event to a weekend. Either way, we'll see you around .

ChristopherD
9:30 GMT (UK)/ 5:30 EST (NY/US)Does this help? ...and 10:30 UK Time. So I just wanted to share a strategy that I layed out here many months ago that never came to fruition. Was my first attempt at an "Event", before the Events Forum existed. Ignore some of my more newbish comments (I hadn't been on the Forums very long). I think that the strategy, however, is sound. 6 Stars in Free Mode Edited August 26, 2009 by ChristopherD

CreebA
Great game last night man I think we should try and do a proper one in the place where roman gets kidnapped, that sniper place is the best lol Im gunna try n think of some plans for the game. Like what we did with the crackshack then runnin down the tracks and we could jump onto the freeway then run to the docks lol
Booze
Yeah, the idea of a "getaway route" appeals to me. Like we could use the train tracks, the subway, buses, boats... I'm gonna see if I can come up with a route, which could end (or start) at said location.
swooner
So the test run was pretty damn fun . We started with 8 - 10 players, eventually down to about 6. Once we stayed together(!), it started coming together nicely. We discussed some nice ideas & visited some interesting locations with great cover. That jumping from roof top to tracks escape was cinematic . Week to week we can improve on ideas to make this a truly great experience each week. I really like the idea of creating a route. We can snap map & post this route prior to game time & set a possible time limit to make our goal. Note: Weapon/Player spawn will be set to Happiness Island by default, 16’s first official Home Base of operations (unless otherwise noted by the route creator). This will give sufficient access to both boats and proximity to the Heli Tour. This means initially, players will only have what they take with them to the Mainland (so stock up!). When players are KIA they should rearm themselves and immediately meet back up or coordinate with the group. Question: Is it better to A) Hold off one random place to 6 stars, then move to next <OR> B) Make a predetermined forum posted foot route with cover checkpoints and a set time limit to achieve victory? Thoughts? Edited August 28, 2009 by swooner
YoungJoe94
The time needs to be changed though guys, I start my school again next Wednesday, and this year it's important for me, so no late nights for me I'm afriad Anyway, yesterday night was fun Swooner
swooner
My Schedule is a little rough & the time zone conflict doesn't help. I’m about 4 or 5 hours behind most of yesterday’s participants. (Yesterday’s game was 5:30 for myself). I’m sure we can coordinate a set day & time. For now it will still be a Wed night game. As much as I would prefer to not stack Sunday full of events, we could consider a couple hours prior to the Gladiator Event & A/G? Unfortunately, Saturdays are not an option for me (unless my friends from across the sea would like to start at 5am ). Another possible option would be to have alternate hosts, but consistently updating the forum with routes. I would hate to lose any good players. PM me or post with suggestions…
Booze
Me and Timmobile have come up with a route that involves walking on foot, driving by car, boats, helicopters, subway, L-train and various locations to build up stars. Gonna test it out tonight. Edit: We tested it out and it seems ok. Only flaw was we lost our 5 star wanted level in the subway, so we will have to stop at every station and wait for cops to come down to keep our wanted level up. Tim thought the route might be a bit too easy, but I don't know, I say we try it out and see how it works. swooner
This is intense! Originally, I was thinking about 1 island each route/scenario. But I'm ready for our first game to be an epic 16vLPCD odyssey ! This may be one long game, but I think we should take our time and work together as a team. Seriously, I'm going to study this map before Wednesday's game. Post detailed observations (Ambulance trucks for health, vulnerable points, etc)? f*cking great job, guys! P.S. Booze, I was thinking. Would you mind if we kept the spawn set to Happiness? We could make our initial trek from there to the Prison. Spawning at Happiness will make it easier to get to Heli Tours later in the route. (Edit: Spawn for this route will be set to Airport.) Edited August 28, 2009 by swooner
Booze
The first holdout is an industrial building with some stairs to the roof of it. Then, you can climb some more stairs to get to a bridge that connects it to another building. You can go real high up and I think it's a fun place to fight off the cops and build up some stars. After we get a certain amount of stars (4, 5?) we can move on by jumping off the second building and heading to the shore. There's a half-sunken Tugboat lying there, we can use that to stay out of harm's way while some brave fellow thugs fetch us some boats (should spawn all around the area). Then we drive our boats past the Tug spawn (we can opt to take the Tug from there on, not necessary however). From there on we keep on driving until we get to the heli spawn above booth tunnel. This will take some coordination, the first boat will have to go to the heli while the second boat waits outside spawn distance (= the distance from within where the game's memory operates). As soon as the first batch is in the heli, it needs to fly away to let the next heli spawn. When everyone's in a heli, we could try to build up a star by shooting down some police helicopters. After that we head to the subway entrance. I though about walking in the subway, but Tim thinks that takes too long and might get boring, so we looked for and found a little parking lot near the subway entrance where we can land the helis and get into cars. We can then drive our cars into the subway. In the subway, we will have to stop at every station to fight some cops as mentioned earlier, to make sure we don't lose our wanted level. After we emerge, we keep on driving/walking towards the crack shack where we will have our next big shootout. When it's time to move on, we jump back onto the train tracks and proceed North. We can jump off without much trouble above the highway. If we then keep to the shore and move West, there should be a boat spawn there. If it's not there, we keep on walking West along the docks, there should be more boats spawning in the Western docks area (two fishing boats and a Squalo) we can take either, it doesn't matter. Once we're in the boats, we drive North toward the old factory for another shootout. After we're done there, we exit the place by the West gate and proceed NorthWest past the crane and beached tugboat. Running along the beachy-area, we shouldn't have too much trouble with the cops. Once we reach the billboard we climb it and use it to get onto the train tracks. We then run along the train tracks, back to Agonquin. The last stop is the Fire station, I don't think we can get on there jumping from the tracks, but it's right next to them and has a ladder to the roof. We can have our last shootout there until everyone's dead, or we can use it to judge our final "score", 1 point for every ex-con that made it there (without dying?). About the spawn point: I'd say mobility is the most important factor here and helicopters provide the most mobility. I think it would be a hassle to first have to run around Happiness to collect weapons, then get a boat, then get a helicopter. I'd say we make the spawn point either Algonquin (always a heli nearby) or the Airport. Also, arming up doesn't have to take that much time, I found that the main weapon I used was the assault rifle. So I would be good if I had armor and full assault rifle ammo. I'll get my rpg's from the helicopter. I didn't find other weapons that useful, like a sniper rifle is only good for targets that are outside the normal guns' range, thus don't pose a threat. People might want a shotgun if they're guarding a door, so that's personal preference then, but I really don't think you need anything beyond that. I'm with you Swooner, can't wait to try this out

swooner
Spawn point: Airport. Great details, Booze! This will be our next scenario. Feel free to title this route if you wish. Players, remember to stick to the route. Players KIA should rearm & meet at the next location. Cooperation is key. No Griefing & no solo carnage. Kids, grab your snacks & bevvies this is going to be a 2 hour Liberty City-wide journey... vForssell, no worries. I'll be sending a game invite to anyone posted or have left a PM next Wednesday 9:30 GMT/ 5:30 EST. destructoBoi420
if the time zone is EDT (GMT -5) then the game starts at 4:30 right?
Booze
If you mean EST, you have to keep in mind that EST and Eastern Time are not the same during the summer. EST is a constant and is not affected by Summer Time (or Daylight Saving Time), while Eastern Time is a variable, meaning it is affected by DST. So 9:30 GMT converts to 4:30 pm EST which converts to 5:30 pm Eastern Time. I would like to add some tactics: If you shoot the heli's out of the sky with an rpg, a new one will spawn real quick. But if you only shoot the gunners out, the chopper will either keep hovering there, doing no harm or fly away slowly. So I say we don't use the RPG's for choppers unless it's a real tight situation (sorry Kinko). It's a good idea to assign certain roles to people, like 2 or three will take care of air threats, some more will take care of entry ways to our location and 4 or 5 will take care of incoming cars and other random threats. I think the biggest threat comes from the choppers and guys that sneak up on us, so the first two groups bear the most important tasks. Also, when on the move we should communicate well and cover each other whenever someone needs to take an action that prevents him from defending himself such as jumping or climbing. Swooner, you might want to update the first post with the current battle plan (maybe include the suggested route?). Feel free to title this route if you wish. How about "Prison Break"? I know, it's not very imaginative, but I think it's fitting, seeing as we start out at the prison and, just like in the show, we travel a long distance after that. Only difference is maybe that we don't split up... Edited August 30, 2009 by Booze T
