Mister Pink Posted August 19, 2009 Share Posted August 19, 2009 Gronf reminded me of Oz and I remembered I saw a couple of episodes that my mate showed me and I remember being very impressed. I just got the first series and only watched 1 episode. I know I'll love this and I suppose I love it already enough to make a damn topic about it. So discuss. What are your favourite things about the show? Anything you didn't like? How did you discover it? Gronf mentioned about HBO recycling actors or thereabouts and in the 1st episode I see your one who plays Carmella in the Sopranos. Funny sh*t. I dunno if I'd tap that in her gaurds uniform. Fnorg Posted August 19, 2009 Share Posted August 19, 2009 (edited) I saw a season and a half in Croatia a year or two back, I have no idea what season it was (the leader of the Muslims decided to stay, instead of getting out on parole and the guy from L&O:SVU took it up the butt) is all I can remember, but that doesn't really matter. I've read that show builds up to an amazing finale, and ends up with sh*t, and that each season is like that. Is that true? I've been thinking about pirating the first season, once done with The Shield and The Wire, but if it really is like that, I dunno, it would feel like a waste of time. And it is kind of funny seeing everyone that's ever starred in any television show in Oz. Hell, they even had Mr. Eko. Bottom line, I'm wondering if it builds up and disappoints. The really enjoyable thing about it is the different factions constantly fighting over power, trying to take advantage of events and play the other faction against each other. I'd say Schillinger, O'Reilly, and Adebisi were my favorites. Torwards the end, the show had some rediculous plot lines. Chinese refugees mixed in with the general prison population? Yeah, right. Yeah, it's really interesting to take a close look at the deaths in the first season and see how many of those deaths O'Reilly was linked to through his plotting. The N. Bellic Man Posted September 12, 2009 Share Posted September 12, 2009 (edited) This is one of my favourites. In early the 00's I was almost obsessed with the series. I have seen the first three season five times at least. Or seven. Can't recall which. At the time I thought that the series was the best ever, no questions asked. I still rate this series very high, but Sopranos (which I first hated) and The Wire have since climbed to the top of my rankings. Yes, Ryan O'Reily is one of the most lovable but still ruthless "'Irish bastard" characters. Simon Adebisi must be one of the most bad-ass characters on TV, ever. And J.K. Simmons really showed his chops on this show and look at where he has gone since then. Plus there is so many good stories on the series that I'm not going to even start further examination. And I must add that because of this show I thought that Prison Break was a really sh*tty series. I have changed my mind since then and find it enterteining on its own merit. Surivives all these attempts on his life by hardened criminals yet gets killed by a nurse who kills him because he is a evil man. She works in a f ucking high secruity prison!
