RetroSpazzin
Okay so, here's the thing, I bought a Grand Theft Auto game when it first came out, about 10-13 months later it died. I thought "Okay, maybe it was just a bit beaten up even though I have games in worst condition" At first, I clean it, it froze at the start up screen and then the xbox just stopped reading it all together it just said "Open tray" instead of "Play game" Now, I got a new game after that and 10-13 months later AGAIN! The Game broke! and this time I Kept the game in near perfect condition!! and yet, it became un readable, froze my xbox, and my xbox just stopped reading it all together, just like the first time. This time, I compared games my BioShock game was completly beaten up but still works fine, my GTA is in better condition, and it doesn't work. Now I got another used GTA and it's in worst condition then the one I had and it WORKS. So does this game have a defect that ends the game for good after a year or so? Or after a certien amout of playing it? Considering I play it a LOT

Maybe something is in the disktray scratching your discs?
rud
I would definitely look into what Nilus just said. The thing that'll kill CD's fast is scratches that go around the circumference of the disk. Those wipe out a bunch of sectors in a row and error protection can't recover all of the data. Normal scratches from wear and tear tend to be straight across the disk most of the time, it can still ruin a bunch of sectors but if they're not all in a row there's a much better chance error protection can figure out what was originally there. I'm saying all this because if you have something that is scratching your disk while it's in use it's almost always a circular scratch and almost always very bad for the disk. Take a really close look at your old GTA disks again and make sure nothing looks fishy.
RetroSpazzin
No.. no circular scratches, infact it still looks relitivly new.... but maybe it is the xbox... I mean i've had it well over two years now
Nillus
You said your BioShock disc was scratched aswell, next to your IV discs, so it must be your Xbox scratching the hell outta them. Do you have any more games and can you check their scratchyness (see rud's post for 'patterns').
