02134
Where does it say they're usng GT4 cars? I'm not calling anyone a liar or anything but I haven't seen it anywhere.
TheScorpion
I highly doubt they'll have just traded over the GT4 cars onto GT5 and not even bothered tweaking them to a next gen spec. Seriously, I'm not worried at all, this is one extremely anticipated game for the PS3, they won't mess it up.

02134
Opps, I was thinking the first page only had a pic with a short sentence like other gaming threads. Anyway, as others have said I'm pretty sure Polyphony Digital would update the car models.
Gezim
At this point, no one really knows what to exactly expect. The information we were given so far isn't the clearest we've ever got. Everyone is thinking differently. Some people think it says every car will have interior view. While others think only a certain amount. But we know for sure that not every car in the game will include damage sadly as said by Kazunori Yamauchi himself. Remember, that is only a demo. Not exactly the final product. And the damage could very well be improved. The Tokyo Game Show is just around the corner, starting on 9/24-9/25 for business days, and 9/26-9/27 open to public. There is absolutely no doubt we'll be seeing a lot of Gran Turismo 5 there. So I'd stay tuned. One more thing I must add and you guys must understand is car manufacturers don't take too kind of their precious cars getting wrecked in a video game. Hence why not all cars will include damage, as well as probably some taking very light damage no matter how big of an impact it gets. (GT5 demo for example) For more prove, I found an article that stated this, "Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi has leaned on the fact that car manufacturers have told him that if he wants their cars included in his game, they can’t take damage-"
Grand Theft Auto Dude
I thought sure Yamauchi said he wanted to do car damage properly, up to Gran Turismo's high standards of realism. I don't really mind that not all cars take damage (still sucks, though), but it looks like only some parts fall off, without affecting performance in any way. And it seems that this is pretty similar to what will be in the final game, they've been hiding it for so long, why would they show an incomplete version? Gezim
Actually no, you're wrong. According to KY damage is still unfinished. As a matter of fact, that's only the first step of what they want to accomplish. Gran Turismo 5's damage modelling is unfinished Read the important bit, only a GT5 code. Meaning a small demo, which is said to be an early build. It's ridiculous how fast some people have a change of heart for the game over a 2 minute demo. PD should have never released anything yet, and just waited for TGS. Keep in mind PD still has a good 4 more months to improve the damage before the game is released. Starion
I still want 1000, consistent, fully modeled high detailed cars. If they are going to put 1000 cars in a game, they could at least make them all equal. Not put 800 lesser detailed cars in the game and make the other 200 perfect. But still, I could be completely wrong. mod it with Nitrous Oxide and chassis dyno.
GTA3Freak-2001
If its taken PD this long to get damage at this level then 4 months won't make much of a difference, if he's testing us to find out what we want maybe he should take a look at the many other games racing fans have been turning to because his game is taking so long. The guy only has to look at the GTP forums to see what fans want from damage, we want proper damage or don't bother at all!
Gezim
Of course, making the effort to whoop us up a solid demo to get a taste of what's to come for the real thing so we at least get something until the release, having to deal with Gran Turismo PSP, modeling 800 cars and 30 tracks just for that game, and then for GT5 having to model over 1,000 cars, 80 tracks, having to do NASCAR, WRC, Formula 1, standard racing, and damage on top of that is a walk in the park and shouldn't take very long to complete at all. Tommy-Vercetti19
I don't really mind about Damage or the Interiors, Still i would like them to rework the Damage a bit more, It's not deforming enough, Plus they should have pieces of metal, Plastic or rock or w/e flying around the place like a real crash would. For the interiors, They probbaly just imported the GT4 model on to GT5 then worked over it like added more details and stuff. The car list does seem to be promising with the inclusion of Lamborghini and Bugatti, Shame about Porsche not jumping on due to there "exclusivity with other racing games." Still i'm so looking forward to GT5 no matter what.
DC93
Shame about Porsche not jumping on due to there "exclusivity with other racing games." Well we'll most likely get RUF as with the other GT's so I'm not really bothered. Although I wanted to drive a Carrera GT I'm hoping they make the licence test a little easier, when I tried playing GT3 and 4 when I was younger the tests were f*cking daunting, I had to download a save for the game that had all the tests completed. Also how awesome would it be if we could get DLC of newly released cars?

3niX
Well... I recently started playing GT4 on an emulator and I dont think they are THAT difficult. Sure, some are pretty annoying (like snow courses) but generally everything is passable. Only thing that has quite royally pissed me off is the Nring "follow that GTR" test thingy. I was so close to gold I could taste it but the f*cker infront kept blocking me and was going so slow that I eventually lost the gold by 2 seconds... Actually, the AI in general is pretty stupid... its like I dont exist on the track. Anyway, hope I can try the new one out when its released in 2097. 33stradale
Perhaps if PD didn't try to model every car in the world they would have more time to spend creating damage models for all the vehicles, yeah we always want more vehicles but do we want them when they take over the whole game leaving other aspects to lag behind! Like the sounds, the bumper car physics, modifications, static tracks with set times and weather etc. Don't get me wrong this game is going in my collection but I just wish Yamauchi wouldn't be such a perfectionist and so pedantic with his game! you should note that of this 1000... 950 are nissan skylines and that ruf is a cayman-GT3 with a bodykit that's similar to a carrera gt, but who gives a sh*t about porsche now that there's a new nissan skyline!! (or gtr or whatever)

But it tops out at 235mph and goes 0-60 in 3.2 seconds so I still want it. Edited August 28, 2009 by Mr.c TO the J

GTA3Freak-2001
Sure it looks great but that's because its not actually game footage, its not a render but it is touched up gameplay footage no doubt. It's a great video though, PD have always been great at doing video clips, their opening movies have always been great.
Gezim
You're going to get the same exact graphics you see in that video when you play the game, believe me, people who think otherwise most likely have never played Prologue. Gundog
I've been a GT Freak since the first game came out, and while the first is still my favourite, I adore Polyphony's games. They should make a Tourist Trophy 2! PS: GT > NFS Sorry, I had to, it's my duty as a troll. You are an aperture through which the universe is looking at and exploring itself. I was really only referring to the footage of the car at the beginning of the video where its clearly using the showroom model which is more detailed then the actual in-game one. I wasn't saying its all a render, I know in replays it will look like that and almost does in Prologue if it wasn't for the buggy depth of field effect.
