...As time passed and i got a bit older i can see how foolish we can appear at times...

...We're a rather ignorant lot. (not all.. but alot)...

You have GOT to be kidding me. I'm not calling you unpatriotic at all, but I am calling what you said extremely dumb and generalizing. WE can appear foolish? Yeah, exactly how many of the 300 million of us? Do we all collectively do dumb things at the same time? And being an ignorant lot? I don't know about you but I've hardly met true ignorance the nineteen years I've been living in the US. What I think is happening here is that you're just thinking of all the dumb people you've met or heard of without even trying to recall the number of intelligent individuals you've met -- this is what the media does. They report on dumb sh*t and stupid people so people think "man Americans are so stupid" when they fail to understand we have most of the smartest minds in the world. It was our countrymen that invented and has dominated the airplane, reached the moon, and developed so many more technological advances that I feel safe in saying that we have given the world a lot for being a little over 230 years old. I honestly don't think our country would be the world's leading superpower if we were "an ignorant lot."

As for that previous "people need to get over 9/11" thing, I am against that sentiment, and even if I agreed with it I don't think it would happen. People still remember December 7, 1941, and those people aren't just veterans. Every year it comes around I think of that Sunday morning and the thousands of US servicemen and women killed at Pearl Harbor. Every nation will always remember its disasters and tragedies. I personally don't fear 9/11 and I don't know anyone who does, but I just think that trying to forget about it is an unfortunate idea.

Oh, and I want a plane in GTA IV. I don't give a damn about moving too fast, if it's a Dodo it doesn't need to go fast anyway.

Yeah. And after that you nuked Japan... Japanese army attacked US MILITARY base, and for that americans throw 2 nuclear bombs over Japan and killed thousands INNOCENT people. I think that was biggest mistake you could possibly do...

And what about your stupid V8? Its heavy, uses a LOT of fuel and still isn't fast... I can smoke almost any V8 fanboy with my 2.6liter Japanese Skyline... For god sakes you basicaly still using engine from 1960... And also you love for old piece of sh*t cars.... america is country i never would like to live!

On topic.... I can live without planes as well! smile.gif

Did you know what is RB26DETT? Muscle is carp! Even my everyday honda can take on 5.0l 1994 (somthing like that, not sure) mustang....

And all your competition takes place on stupid nascar tracks... what about rally on gravel? what can be greater than that...

All what you know about cars is fast and the furious! biggrin.gif

First of all, lol mustangs. Nothing more than a birthday gift for a girls sweet sixteen if you ask me...

But yeah, I was just joking with the FaF quote. Muscle is crap today and we really haven't done anything new since the 1960's. The only thing I like about muscle cars these days are restoration jobs. I love 70's body styles haha.

You're not getting airplanes. TLaD introduced a couple of new missions, a new protagonist and some new characters, some new cars and some new weapons. What makes you think TBoGT will get something more then that?

Why Not?

Hope and Expectations make me think I'll be getting more.

if they can add cars, then why dont add a planes or boats???

its basicly the same as a car or bike

A plane uses completely different physics than a boat, or even a helicopter. Sure, they have the physics for planes, as previous games had them, but adding planes seems like such a monumental task, much larger than a mere dlc can hold. My guess is we'll be waiting until GTA V before we get to see planes again.

Liberty City is well big enough for a f*cking dodo plane and it shocks me that there isn't one. Helicopters get very very old very very fast. Just one stinking dodo is all i ask! excluding them is like how the fork lifts don't do anything, or how they park the truck in front of the trailor but you cant attatch them. notify.gif

only problem is you can only land a dodo at francis intl but if we see any plane i would put my chips on a seaplane because liberty is surrounded by water

That seems about right, besides. It would be near impossible to land with those stupid scripted planes around the airport.

ya but if they did make a land dodo they would have to setup some kind of air trafic control system and if they did that would push the bogt release date up around a month

If anything, We are getting a new helicopter

The reason San andreas had airplanes was because they had 5 airports(counting the aircraft carrier and the one in the desert)

Look how many heliports GTA4 has, but only 2 helicopters.

It's nothing like a car or bike. You have more to deal with than just go forward, backward, and stop. You have up and down to deal with as well, along with all of the other ways in which you could direct an airplane.

It's not in the game engine.

To be fair, they could simply say that Gay Tony paid for flying lessons so Luis could fly him around the state.

It isn't THAT unbelievable. I know this guy who started to take lessons to get his pilots license before he even got his drivers licenese. Sure, his dad was a crazy Airforce dude who wanted his son to fly...but it is still possible...

But, I don't think they will add planes. A Cessna could work speed wise, but it would still get boring after the third crash. The only reason anyone liked the Dodo in GTAIII was because of the challenge it took to fly it.

How can Gay Tony pay for flying lessons if he's flat ass broke.

Besides, I don't think we'll be flying planes coming GTA V either, especially if it's going to take place in one city.

well i mean i am sure euphoria physics engine can handle a plane or two but it is possible but it would push the release date like 1-2 months so ya i am going nuts waiting for just the trailer i am not gonna imagine what i would be like if they pushed the release date

Because he obviously hasn't been broke his whole life. I am saying that the explanation would be that he paid for flying lessons for Luis years prior to BOGT, just like the explanation for Niko was that he had learned to fly helicopters in the military years before GTAIV.

But, I still don't think they will add planes. They might use that explanation for helicopters, however, since it's almost dead certain there is going to be a helicopter battle within BOGT...

Every car has different physics and handling. If TLAD can add new filters, vehicles, handling, weapons (including weapon animation), characters, locations and mere auto updates can contain some pretty significant changes, why is it so hard to assume that rockstar can't add a Dodo? Think about it - the plane moves on 3 axis similar to a helicopter, and it uses pitch, roll, yaw etc. It works on essentially the same principal as a helicopter - now before you hit reply and start bashing away while yelling to your mother about what an idiot i am with little bits of spittle flying out of your mouth, consider that helis work under more or less the same principal as planes do, the difference is the way lift is generated. Have you ever landed the Anhilator like a plane? well you can. Have you ever knocked off the propellor or been a passanger in a heli with no pilot? Notice how it behaves in a similar way to a glider? now imagine that pulling back on the stick causes it to glide up, and accelerating makes it go faster and rolling it to the side and pulling up makes it go up, but since you are sideways you travel left or right (banking): you know have a plane.

Ok to somewhat clarify i will respond but as to not derail this thread i think we should leave this here and further dialogue can occur in the PM system if you so choose. I also open that invitation to anyone looking to discuss the subject.

I feel you approached the topic in a gentlemanly fashion and my desire is to keep it on that level.

My original post was more or less intended for the individual that i was responding to. I did know when i typed it out that perhaps i didnt elaborate as i should to make my thoughts clear but i didnt want to articulate on something so completely off topic from the original post.

LiveJoker was expressing a thought related to something that still affects many americans deeply and to an extent "understandably so".

The main thing i note from his statement is that it reflects alot of what other non-americans think regarding the issue. For a large time i was exposed to this type of thought both in real life and online where i was part of a large community that was by and large not american. I spent alot of time defending my country verbally because i felt like i was being categorized by these people although they would interject "well not you". As to not offend me and remark how i was somehow different.

I couldnt understand then how people would have certain sentiments against americans but i never really took a look at our culture as a whole compared to other cultures.

Anyways when you make a post like his (for example) on a board with many americans you will get immediate backlash. You can see he was expressing an honest opinion and ending it on a defensive note which shows me he was anticipating the backlash of a response that he might have received elsewhere.

My main thing was to be supportive. I am huge on free speech even if it offends me (which the exception of false character assassination/slander). I anticipated some sort of response to what he said and i wanted to say... "hey your not alone" and this was intended to be said with some merit because i myself am american.

Now i would like to respond respectfully to something in your above quote as best as i can

The education level has dropped significantly in the last 200 years or so. When you look at old curriculum and educational expectations of pupils years ago there is a significant difference.

Once it was common for americans to be bi-lingual or tri-lingual. Now alot of the common "patriots" express disgust that certain signs appear in Spanish or that there are options on automated voice systems to access a spanish speaking interface although we have an influx in spanish speaking immigrants.

In other countries where English is not the main language you will often see important signs (directions, etc) that appear in English underneath the main language to accommodate the English speaking residents or more often tourists.

If i go to Thailand i dont expect the residents to speak english. If a thai immigrant comes to this country I dont expect them to know the language especially considering all the variables that might prevent that person from learning English.

Americans tend to live in a bubble. Especially middle class blue collar residents. They work from your stereotypical 9-5 then perhaps a second job to support a family. So if you work 8-10 hours and sleep for another 6-8 that leaves only so much free time. Within that time there are things one must do to keep a household running. General upkeep, social life, family time, etc.

So people often times get their worldly news from the media. They dont research events. They may be unaware of what bills are being passed. Their knowledge of the bills that people are voting on is often times very slim and that is if they vote at all.

The percentages of voter turnout outside of a presidential level is depressingly small.

The "general" american populous is often times tied up in activities that are of no or little value. We have an influx of television programs that are a blend of reality/gossip based. These are highly popular. This isnt a major factor but it is a contributing one.

Instead of focusing on the politics here or our standing on a political event in another country (let alone our awareness) our attention is driven towards some celebrity and what train wreck they are making of their lives.

While i may be generalizing in a sense i would gather to say you are overestimating the amount of intelligent individuals in this country. There are many yes (of which i am not one) but they are a supreme minority.

As for the whole 9/11 thing.... imagine if Israel had a day of remembrance every time they got attacked. It would cover every single calendar square.

As for the topic-which-is-going-to-get-locked-because-two-idiots-like-to-be-macho-over-internet; I don't think it's gonna happen. We can wish all we want but the theme for IV seems helicopters. R* somewhat mastered the physics of a helicopter, why not keep doing it? icon14.gif

**EDIT** As for the little fights you...gentlemans, are having, my statement was said because people still bitch over 9/11. I never said we should forget it (If I did...then wow, i'm dumb). I saw the movie Pearl Habor, I watched movies of WW2 (I know, movies, but still). It's impossible to forget how humans fight eachother. I love the U.S. I went to California once, it was nice biggrin.gif . You can think whatever you want to think. Seeing i'm from Canada and not from the U.S, you're gonna think i'm a hater. I, honestly, think you two should just shush and stick to the topic.

Americans, as said by one of you two, is publicized to be stupid. Mcdonald-crazy, rich and full of themselves. That's the main thing most people think of the U.S, well, I do. I just don't believe it. I can't really name your good side because i'm not a U.S resident but I can say your bad side. It's not applied to all americans but what's up with the wars? I think what makes "americans" so hate-able is their patriotism. We have the right to love our country, yes, but when I go on Xbox Live and most americans bitch that their country is better, it makes me gag.

Oh, another off-topic thing; why are we called Canadians when we're also in America? Taking possession of our name, mmh? devil.gif

Anyway, i'm done saying stuff over internet, it's pathetic. You guys should try too. I'm not trying to say i'm better in any way than you two or any american, i'm just saying you should both shut up before a mod locks this and make you two look like complete idiots. If you're so patriotic, please show that the U.S is a good country and not a hospital for new-born idiots. icon14.gif

cookie.gif  Have a cookie, shinsta312. //\\ Seriously, guys....come on. Like, guys.....come on!

As for the topic-which-is-going-to-get-locked-because-two-idiots-like-to-be-macho-over-internet; I don't think it's gonna happen. We can wish all we want but the theme for IV seems helicopters. R* somewhat mastered the physics of a helicopter, why not keep doing it?  icon14.gif

I will take that cookie.gif, thank you very much, and I will cherish it.

Well, United Statins (or something like that) just wouldn't work out well, but I do agree. There is Canada, United States, Mexico, and Central America countries in North America. Don't also forget there is another entire conitinent called South America. Yet, only us people that live in the United States are called Americans.

On topic: I'm thinking that in TBOGT there should be two new planes (Skimmer and Stunt Plane) or a Hunter. From the outcome of things, I'm sure a Hunter is more likely.

It did drive me crazy that there was all those airplanes in the airport, but NONE of them where drive-able. Don't say it's unrealistic, because that's crap. There's no reason to disclude the planes. And they only gave us two types of helicopters. That's just ridiculous, two fly-able vehicles get's really old. So yeah, give us a dodo, or something. sh*t, even gta3 had a dodo, and it's got a smaller area than gtaiv.

Forgot all about GTA3 having a dodo(I remember how I could never get off the ground with that thing)

But GTA3 had 1 airport...1 freaking airport and it still had planes. At least the planes were scripted to fly off the ground instead of flying in circles or circling the runaway constantly, the scripted planes landed and took off again. I prefer that over planes on the ground going around in circles.

Flying planes isn't unrealistic.

But storywise,

Niko never flew a plane, not even when he was in the war. He flew helicopters.

And I don't think a Jewish biker and a Dominican bodyguard/drug dealer would have any experience to riding a plane.

And I know you can care less about that, especially because all we ever care about is having fun, but this is R* we're talking about here. They don't listen to what other people want, they put whatever they want in a game, and we feed off of it.
