It's a good program, and I like the GUI, however, there're some bugs in the "Generate BB code" functionality. The table doesn't show up here at GTAF, and for some reason, it says my sound card is my webcam and my keyboard is my IR receiver for Windows Media Center. notify.gif

Anyway, keep working on your program. Don't ever let the "big guys" intimidate you. icon14.gif

Thanks all for the replies. Much appreciated. smile.gif

@mike752: Maybe they should pin this topic here too, like on GTAForum.nl. And spread the word. smile.gif

@PresidentKiller: The BB code for tables is made for the IPB 3 which is used on GTAForum.nl (where this program originates from). You can deselect Settings > Generate Settings > Use Tables for information output to get a GTAForums.com compatible BB Code (without tables though). I'll look into it to add GTAForums.com table support.

This version chooses the first sound card/keyboard in the devices list.

I started working on the new v4 which displays all found soundcards/graphics cards/keyboards/etc, so your normal sound card and keyboard will be listed, too.

By the way, you can select Spanish language from Settings > Languages.

Sneak preview of what I have till now (in Dutch however):

It will be completely rewritten so not all information is displayed here yet. I'll release a beta when it's ready for testing (as it's completely rewritten).

PS: Don't get wrong ideas about the "Register" button. The program will remain free. biggrin.gif

Thanks.

Flitskikker

I have never seen that error before. Try putting the following in a .REG file and add it to the registry:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\FlitskikkerSoftware\Flitskikker InfoTool]"Deze gebruiker"="Ownt!"

Let me know if it works. smile.gif

Kind regards,

I didn't know it wasn't designed for GTAF, sorry. blush.gif Glad you're fixing that up, tho.

The new design looks good but I think that if I have several devices of the same type in my PC, it can get way overwhelming. Why don't you implement a tabbed interface that categorizes each type of device or something like that? It'll look better and will be more functional, IMO.

Anyway, keep up the good work. icon14.gif

For GTAForums.com, you could generate BB code, select Convert to HTML and then replace the < > with [ ]. tounge.gif

You can already see the "tabs" on the preview screenshot, just below the main toolbar. It'll display a selectlist (combobox) with devices and a list (listview) containing all properties.

I think the overview screen still displays one device per type, as it's a quick overview.

I had also some new ideas for the Upgrade Advisor:

- The games are now divided into two lists. One with the games, the other with Minimal/Recommended.

- You can select the configuration to compare the requirements with. By default, this is your own system configuration, but if you're planning to buy a new computer, you can create a configuration with the specs of the one you want to buy and see if that one runs games fine.

- There will be a nice indicator if you can run it or not. You don't need to look at the table, you now only get a clear "NO" or "YES".

- When your computer just meets the requirements, you'll get a notification to play on low settings.

What do you think of it? smile.gif

BTW, for those who don't know yet: the Upgrade Advisor is a better alternative for CanYouRunIt. Although sometimes it may give wrong results, it's, according to others, certainly better than CYRI who's providing crap all the time (8400 GS for GTA IV: PASS - yeah, right..).

So spread the word to stop people using CYRI (like you stop people using IE6). turn.gif

Flitskikker, if you want this pinned, all you need to do is PM a mod. I'm sure they'd gladly do it for such a great project.

Gorgeous program! Would you like to translate it to Portuguese?

Thanks! biggrin.gif

I don't speak Portuguese. But if you mean you want to, then it's great. Just drop a PM. tounge2.gif

How you could loose motivation in this project I don't know. This brilliant program taught me things about my laptop that I didn't even know.

Just stumbled across this tool myself .. Also just stumbled across this 'section' (Tech & PC Chat) Thats probably why I've just 'spammed' this 'section' answering so many threads ..

Anyway .. I'm a graduate PC Tech from New Zealand. And I know a good community that I'm about to recommend this tool to.

I don't know why your losing 'inspiration' on this tool, its look superb ! Better than the other 'sysinfo' tools that I've comr across. I 'specially like the output.

Haven't managed to test it out yet, but will do very soon on my XP and Vista machines.

I've read through the whole thread, but didn't see anything relating to command line support ? is there such a feature ?

Hello,

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for your compliments!

A command line function is not yet implemented, but is planned for the next version (v4).

Kind regards,

Of course. A possiblity to add them online and an auto-update function is also planned. smile.gif

I'm currently working on it, so if you have any ideas, tell me now so I can add them asap. turn.gif

Dynamic updates, nice. I can't manage to use the "Can You Run It?" site because the plug-in won't install so I rely on your Advisor which I really like.

Good job on everything man, your Info Tool is always one of the first things I install whenever I'm forced to get a new HDD.

However school has begun again, I'm hoping to finish version 4 of the program by the end of the year.

(Completely rewriting it in C#)
