mataanjin Posted August 7, 2009 Share Posted August 7, 2009 i'll explain about adding a new car in GTA IV files you need from IV: vehicles.imgcarcol.datcargrp.dathandling.datvehicle.ide others file: a new car file(wtf + wtd)openIVsparkIV 1. extract vehicle.img to a temp folder(i'm using spark iv, cos i can't extract using open iv). 2. if a new car file that you download have a name already in vehicle.img, you need to rename it to something else. example: turismo -> test 3. copy test.wtf and test.wtd to temp folder 4. run open iv 5. add new img file name it vehicles.img 6. add all file in tempfolder to the new vehicles.img 7. edit carcol.dat(while editing always follow the format of the file( space, CAPITAL LETTERS, and everything): add a new line after yankee(for car) -> add the carcol data from new car file or copy paste the one it replace(but rename turismo -> test) washington, 0,0,12, 4,4,12, 6,6,12, 10,10,12, 21,21,12, 23,23,12, 25,25,12, 33,33,35, 37,37,32, 49,49,63, 52,52,56, 54,54,55, 65,65,63, 67,67,118, 70,70,65, 98,98,90, 16,16,76, 9,9,91, 15,15,93, 19,19,93, 13,13,80, yankee, 15,112,1, 26,78,1, test, 0,0,1, 35,35,127, 1,1,3, 17,17,34, 21,21,21, 31,31,33, 38,38,30, 52,52,50, 69,69,63, 72,72,63, 81,81,63, 89,89,89, 95,95,90, 8. edit handling.dat(after subway), vehicle.ide. same as step 7 9. edit cargrp.dat(so ped can use it): add test after each turismo blista, intruder, sultan, washington, patriot, dilettante, merit, solair, virgo, hellfury, sabregt, sentinel, moonbeam, primo, faggio, peyote, rebla, pcj, turismo, test, pres, bus, # POPCYCLE_GROUP_BROOKLYN 10. copy all file that you edit(vehicles.img, carcol.dat, cargrp.dat, handling.dat, vehicle.ide) to gtaIV folder i'm not good at explain i guess. if you didn't understand just ask here and maybe someone can explain more better sorry for my english Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If it works of course i'll tell the world!!! Then instead of replacing, we can now have a lot of cars but how do we set the rarity of the car seen on the road. I'm sure there is a way in vehicle.ide at this part i didn't get what you mean on this line: 6. add all file in tempfolder to the new vehicles.img if you're asking us to backup just in case, just say so, don't make it complicated. better yet can you rewrite everything properly please? if you don't know how to, try asking someone to help you translate better. Jack2421992 Posted September 30, 2009 Share Posted September 30, 2009 Files needed to modify to add new cars instead of replacing: 1)vehicles.img 2)carcol.dat 3)cargrp.dat 4)handling.dat 5)vehicle.ide New cars that are wanted to be added, should be named other than the cars in GTA4. like DB9.wtd and DB9.wft Tools: Open IV or Spark IV PLEASE BACKUP BEFORE EDITING/MODDING 1) Let's say that the car you downloaded is the DB9 beta and the mod say it should replace supergt, just name it to DB9.wtd and.wft 2) Use OpenIV to add the new car files like DB9.wtd and the .wft file into vehicle.img 3)Since the car(DB9 mod) uses the SuperGT systems like in carcols.dat, vehicle.ide, handling.dat, cargrp.dat, we should use the lines that were used for the SuperGT for the DB9. BTW i think 'mataanjin' forgot to mention about vehoff.csv so i might think that is necessary to copy its values too. When 'mataajin' suggest we put new lines after all car lines in handling.dat like he said: 7. edit carcol.dat(while editing always follow the format of the file( space, CAPITAL LETTERS, and everything): add a new lineafter yankee(for car) -> add the carcol data from new car file or copy paste the one it replace(but rename turismo -> test) 8. edit handling.dat(after subway), vehicle.ide. same as step 7 9. edit cargrp.dat(so ped can use it): add test after each turismo We don't have to do it that way, we can put it according to the alphabets At cargrp.dat, what he's trying to say is that we should add the names of the car into the file so we can see the car being used by traffic people and peds. Remember, case sensitive of the car we added. like DB9.wft and .wtd should be DB9. If you use small letters, it should be small letters (recommended to avoid confusion). Do you find this confusing,I think i might be missing out some points but please do tell what i am missing so i can edit it agin. carloschankl Posted November 16, 2009 Share Posted November 16, 2009 i'm new here. i follow your tut. the game start and didn't crash, but it seems that my car didn't appear in the game... i even tried to change all cars to "test" in carcols.dat, but my car still not appear. anyone can help?
