Be sure everyone has a good firewall up. Hoolio, it's not necessarily about this punk alone, it's about people like him having the ability to cheat in the first place. For me it's not even about 'cheating' in general as much as it is the ability to completely crash a server..to me this is just plain uncalled for. Put it this way - if I was running a SharePoint Server for a large corporation that helding millions of documents and someone was able to come in and crash it AT WILL...would this be acceptable? Do you think Microsoft would of patched it immediately? Yes, they would have. Why? Because people pay good money for a Server they assume is secure enough and with no holes. Well, Rockstar doesn't seem to play by this logic. I paid good money for this game. I could of NOT paid for it easily and pirated it..but I wanted to support Rockstar for putting out such a highly graphical game like they did..so I bought it. For what? So some punk can come in and crash a server people worked hard to set up and run? All for a power trip? It's crazy to think Rockstar would allow their games to be exploited like this without addressing this issue. So it's not about Cemeh himself, which I'd still like to take him behind the shed and beat some sense into him, Its about the over all security of the game. by posting names and possibly email addresses we can start holding this company accountable for the game. Is it illegal to post email addresses? I am not sure. In the USA we do have privacy laws but I think email addresses are public domain in a way. If you can find it on the web, its public domain. If I have to go to his house and get it..it assumes some type of privacy. I could be wrong but one way is for certain..someone at Rockstar will address this issue at some point. All the fuzz about CEMEH CEMEH is not about just to pick one , and focus ourselves on him.. It is about the fact that people here don't know what else to do but post theyr experiences with cheaters. CEMEH's presence on the GTA 4 servers is so much disturbing to so many that we try to notify someone important at Rx. By keeping this topic warm hopefully someone at Rx will read what they do and maybe take action. Now that they know what we don't like, they will continue to allow what we DONT like to happen. Rootkits, 'security' programs, cheaters/hax - they don't do much because they want us OFF the pc and back onto the TV. That's why xbox has facebook, might get a form of Bing, but will never have a real browser or google to let you learn. They do this on purpose - they use what we don't like to make us not like certain things, then we have no choice but to leave PC behind and go to consoles (which can be cheat protected much much easier etc) - it's the exact same reason the bastard bill gates sells his consoles and loses money and doesn't mind, and it's the exact reason both of the big consoles claim to be like a PC. crackdawg Posted August 13, 2009 Share Posted August 13, 2009 You can tell most cheaters can't do much though, because free mode has hordes of cheaters, and they do stupid stuff like spawn giant collision maps to mess up other people. The open hook is only in c++ so it's semi-noob-poof. Also this cheater will eventually stop playing like all the others have and then a new one will come along. What I think sucks is you can easily crash an entire game server, but you can't play savegames without a dll that disables online play based on irrational logic. The author of the xlive.dll patch claims he disables online play so nobody can use his patch to cheat, which is retarded because it can't inject stats and lacks the inline code to do anything worth mentioning; plus who would reinvent the wheel anyway? Too bad I can't see how many people viewed it, but at least it has to count for something for the many people who are upset with how GFWL treated their customers so far. I just want more posts by other people in here to forward their contempt toward GFWL for whatever reason. My suggestion is we need more inputs by people who bought this game for the sole reason of its multiplay features. The only thing I am advocating for is to change the voting system to not what we have now, but to allow the host to have the sole authority to kick out people for whatever reason. And to have GFWL take aggressive action of monitoring and banning disruptive players accounts who does nothing but crash games or disrupt people's right for fair play. I don't use the netkicker because it can be burdensome for me to be hosting and kicking players out while playing the game. That should not be happening. So allow simple features of giving the host the ability to kick players without a mod, and that right there allow people with no modding skills, or just don't want to learn how to mod, to simply kick dickwads or whoever they don't like in their public game. If the host is unfair, then just avoid the guy and join other games with hosts you are familar with who is equally fair to everyone in the game. You can go into custom on PC MP and there is very rarely ranked games and on a good night maybe 20 unranked games; mode irrelevant, with maybe 18 players on one of them. By some way or the other i did somethin n managed to get through it And now I upgraded to Win 7 and the same problem persists First of all for god sake get rid of this so called bloatware GFWl....!!!!!!!! Trackah123 Posted August 16, 2009 Share Posted August 16, 2009 And again something new today.. new mod or hack i think ..there was a guy in a bus tracing me no matter where i go.. he was like locked on to me.. warping around me all the time and block me with the bus. even the simple native trainer when i use the teleport function to the other side of liberty city he was there again within seconds blocking me.. i think this is the same cheat as the one like when they control other players vehicles and stuff and you have no control over the vehicle anymore. No DEP stopped it. SecuRom also causes problems with DEP. Thing is the way GTA IV is designed an attacker could distribute a buffer overflow attack. DEP would probably prevent it though. If not for DEP they could run machine code on your system and do whatever GTA has rights to do. This is unlikely though because it's complex enough that it's moron proof.
