Gramps
Death Rally In late 1996 this top-down racing game took all by surprise with it's addictive nature and excellent gameplay. The basic idea behind Death Rally: win races, gather more money, buy upgrades to your vehicle. In between wreck your opponents, shoot your way through bystanders and keep the pedal to the metal! In 2009, Remedy is proud to announce the free re-release, Death Rally for Windows. The original game, ported to run on modern PCs. Command & Conquer Classics This includes the original, Red Alert, Tiberian Sun + FireStorm expansion NirSoft.net For techtools, check out the website nirsoft.net. There are heaps and heaps of freeware portable tools Ketarin Ketarin is a small application which automatically updates setup packages. As opposed to other tools, Ketarin is not meant to keep your system up-to-date, but rather to maintain a compilation of all important setup packages which can then be burned to disc or put on a USB stick. Basically, it monitors the content of web pages for changes and downloads files to a specified location. There is a tutorial explaining it all. Currently, you can either rely on a service based on FileHippo, or you can define your own rules, even using regular expressions (for advanced users). A similar application, for monitoring web pages, is Webmon and has sometimes served as guide. I use this program religiously. One of my favourite timesavers. I have a database with around 150+ tech tools that I have on my 2GB USB. It took a while to set it up, but i can update 150 tools with one click It even supports custom commands before or after each download. So if the file you are downloading is rar or zip archive, then you can use a command to get 7zip to extract the files for you. nLite Have you ever wanted to remove Windows components like Media Player, Internet Explorer, Outlook Express, MSN Explorer, Messenger...How about not even to install them with Windows ? nLite is a tool for pre-installation Windows configuration and component removal at your choice. Optional bootable image ready for burning on media or testing in virtual machines. With nLite you will be able to have Windows installation which on install does not include, or even contain on media, the unwanted components. Features Service Pack Integration Component Removal Unattended Setup Driver Integration * Hotfixes Integration ** Tweaks Services Configuration Patches *** Bootable ISO creation * - Textmode (CD Boot) and normal PnP ** - hotfixes with white icons, *KB*.exe, including update packs and Internet Explorer 7 ***- supports generic SFC, Uxtheme, TcpIp and Usb Polling patching. nLite supports Windows 2000, XP x86/x64 and 2003 x86/x64 in all languages. It needs .NET Framework 2.0 in order to run... Check if you have it already, maybe on some of your CDs before downloading if your connection is slow. I use this tool quit a bit too, so that I can slipstream latest Service Packs and hotfixes onto a CD, and remove all the crap that you don't need from XP Makes doin' re-installs in my job a breeze. Then set up OOBE to run at next startup for the user, so they are still getting that 'Out of the box' experience with XP. The alternative for Vista is vLite. I don't know about one for 7 yet though. james227uk
Speccy What's in your computer? If you're like most of us, you can probably name the processor (Intel or AMD, Celeron or Pentium), maybe how much RAM it has, and maybe how big the hard drive is. When you go to a computer store and see all the bright shiny PCs laid out next to each other, most will have tags or stickers indicating the: Processor brand and model Hard drive size and speed Amount of memory (RAM) Graphics card Operating system Two or three years later, when it comes time to upgrade your computer, that tag or sticker may be long gone. james227uk
How the f*ck did I forget this, HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool There's those times where USB's are unreadable to Windows, and windows cannot format it. Sometimes you use Windows to format a USB, and find some of the space isn't usable anymore (Like a 2GB USB and only 500mb is now usable) This can fix that. Just select the device (Which will be the USB), and click start. (Tick the quick format box first, and if that doesn't do the trick, untick it and try it without Quick Format) http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Hard-D...rmat-Tool.shtml
ghost of delete key
MuseScore - Free music composition software for Windows, OSX and Linux. .Also, does anyone know of a decent drum machine? MuseScore looks pretty decent, but from what I gather you need some 3rd-party tools like JackMIDI and MiniHost to run VST instruments. (I'll stick with native-host environments, ACID and Cakewalk. Why backtrack? ) Speaking of which, try Minimal for a free VST drum synth. <edit> forgot this one too - Zapkit: http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?plugin=Zapkit&id=169 Tons of free and shareware VSTi at http://www.vst4free.com/. The latest version (currently rc3) is a standalone application that can be called from Maya, 3DS Max and now Softimage XSI. Have a look at the first Roadkill example movie to get a good idea of it's usage. If you find this software useful please tell us and provide links to example images.
