It feels like the "Noire" series is being relegated to Rockstar's VR game stuff, so IF they do a sequel, we'd most likely see it next gen when all the boosted VR stuff is out.

anyone play it on new R* launcher? I got it with RDR2 and I have annoying 0xc00007b error. don't know how to fix it, tried a bunch of things..

Didn't know L.A. Noire had photo mode. That's cool!

I was thinking of grabbing the remastered version of this game on PS4, but unfortunately the driving physics is boring and stiff, which is my main nitpick about it. I enjoy driving on Simulation mode in Mafia 2 as each car has it own weight and suspension and they react to the bumps and uneven roads.

Don't know if this thread is even alive but, someone is having trouble to open the game since yesterday? It's weird, it was working perfectly some days before, on PC

I was looking at this guy's portfolio and found a few mildly interesting screenshots.

It looks like they're from a pre-2011 build. I don't know this game well enough to spot all the differences though.

Found this under case locations, was there supposed to be a case/level involving an oil field?

Quick, someone archive this sh*t before Rockstar pulls the plug on it like everyone else's portfolio

Interesting. As far as I remember you can't even get in there, the fence is solid all around.

Do we know if there were gonna be more cases that weren't for Bunco-Fraud/Burglary?

Sadly not.

I just wonder though, how many cases were completed. Look at the DLC cases, they were all originally cut from the final game.

Does anyone know of any tall climbable buildings? Wondering if there's any point higher than the library tower you can get to. The Broadway Hotel from 'The Naked City' is close.

I only just got this game, I was really looking forward to getting into it... but I can't seem to.

I installed it, then launched it.  It played the logo screen for LA Noire, then Rockstar, then something else, then eventually settled on a large neon LA Noire sign.  At the bottom corner it said it was checking for available updates.  A moment later, a window opened telling me to log into Social Club, which I did.  I pressed ESC to clear that window, but now I was stuck on the LA Noire sign screen.  There was nothing indicating it was loading or doing ANYTHING else, and neither mouse nor keyboard did anything.  The Home key was the only thing that did anything, opening that Social Club window again.

I couldn't even exit.  I had to call up the task manager and end process to escape.

Anyone else have this problem, and if so, how do I fix it?

Ok, after a month of Rockstar futility, I finally did get the game running.  However, I'm finding the same issue I have with GTAV, driving a car is a nightmare, because using the keyboard is wholly inadequate.  Press A, and you turn the wheel HARD left.  Press W and you floor it.  There's no in between.

So, I went out and bought a controller.  I never liked those things with the paired joysticks, but if that's what's necessary, so be it... or so I thought.

I hooked it up and to my surprise, it's still nearly impossible to drive.  Oh, the joystick on the left lets me steer, but the camera doesn't follow where I'm going, so I can't see where I'm going as soon as I turn.  More, neither joystick controls the throttle, so once again, I'm stuck with flooring it... all or nothing.  Even more, it's one of those front buttons.  The brakes are the OTHER front button.  In all, the thing is incredibly awkward to use.  All the needed to do was put steering AND throttle on the one joystick.  So, I went into the options, thinking to customize it, but found no option to do so.

So, I filed a ticket, and for over a week now, they've been telling me that installing a controller will load the default control scheme.  I said yes, I know that.  I want to know how to customize it, if possible.  They say installing a controller will load the default control scheme.  I said YES, I understand that, I want to know if I can CHANGE it.  They said that installing a controller will load the default control scheme.

So, here I am, hoping someone can tell me IF and HOW I customize the controller setup.

(and before you say it, YES, I know it loads the default scheme...)

Maybe you can try x360ce? It emulates an Xbox 360 controller and you can map the controls however you like.

The one I got was a Logitech F310.  It looks like an X-Box controller... but I didn't see any way to customize anything...

So a couple of other questions (since it seems I can't adjust my controller for the game).

Is it possible to get back into my blues?  I would have liked to spend a little time as a patrolman, walking a beat and doing some random missions as a regular beat cop.

Is there some penalty if missions are completed with damage to your vehicle?  It seems to me there are several where there is no alternative.

Is there some way to tell when a suspect is lying?  Very often, there's none of the sidelong glances or other expected tells.  Also, is there some way to look at evidence while interrogating a suspect?  For example, suppose I needed to see the name on an invoice to know it references that suspect.  Just clicking Review Evidence tells me that there's an invoice, but doesn't let me see what's ON it.

A question about interrogations...

Is there always only one path to success in an interrogation?  For example, in the first one (Edgar Kalou), we question him, and he says it had nothing to do with him.  Now, I could tell him the girl positively identified him, but I could ALSO tell him we had HIS gun and shells found at the scene, and the testimony of the gunsmith who cleaned it for him... except the game doesn't let me use that evidence.  I wondered if this is typical, or are there times I could use different evidence to get to the same point?

You can no longer wear the beat cop uniform once you're promoted from the patrol desk.

To get a five-star rating, damage must stay below some threshold (I think it's $2,000 or something like that). For more damage, rating will decrease accordingly. In pursuit, I think only damage to people counts (not to property).

During interrogation, sometimes you can either "doubt" a suspect or accuse them of lying for the same (positive) outcome; and when making an accusation, there is often more than one piece of evidence to choose from that can succesfully substantiate it; but other than that, the interview scenarios are quite rigid.

Actually typical. This pissed me off when you were supposed to use the 20k check as evidence rather than the blackmail clue

Very rarely there are times where you can use more than one evidence or when you two answers are correct.

Anyone know how to take a screenshot?  I tried Print Screen, but all I get is black.

You should set the game to borderless in the launcher. At least I think that's a feature because I could take screenshots easily with print screen. If nothing works try Steam's screenshot feature if you have the game via Steam. If not then you still have Nvidia Ansel I guess.

On another note, I have been replaying L.A. Noire again and in the hit and run case I discovered that Leroy is standing in the back before the final confrontation.

Just finished the Homicide desk story.  I was really into that.  I was a bit disappointed by the finale though.  Seemed a little too easy, and the suspect's motives were... unclear.  I liked that it didn't hold my hand thoughout though.  Very cinematic.  I have to say, I did figure it out very early.  Without giving any spoilers, I did guess who the killer was, right from the first case!  Didn't have any proof or anything, but I just had a feeling.  Made the ending a little more personal.
