Yan has been throwing out a lot of BS recently and refusing to back himself up, the fact that he's been getting more things wrong recently too leads me to believe that he's just posting for attention now.

Old news. That one, whoever his source is, I don't believe in. Rockstar doesn't trust Nintendo for years now, and it has been confirmed by a pretty well known insider.

Perhaps Team Bondi's engine is a lot more scalable than RAGE and would be easier to port.

 

As for the remaster/port, weeeelll tech-wise one thing that always bugged me about LAN were the creepy plastic faces. It would be worth it to retexture those.

LA Noire was a development mess, and RAGE is one of the most solid engines nowadays. I still doubt they'd do LA Noire for just that reason.

It was no more a mess than many other games and the messy parts were about the game contents, not the engine. I've never had a crash, freeze or any significant bug (if any) during all my time with LAN on PC or PS3, while, say, I couldn't even get MP3 to run on my PC. (I wasn't trying too hard honestly though.)

 

I dunno, maybe RAGE is solid in its latest incarnation, although I'd still question how you got to that conclusion when things like UE4 and CryEngine exist.

 

Either way, my point wasn't about the current version of the engine, but portability from last gen. And there it's quite possible that LAN would be easier to port/remaster than RDR or GTA IV. Maybe not, just guessing. Or maybe R* would remaster all 3, after all rumors about the other 2 being remastered keep surfacing and it would certainly make sense to do them.

If that rumor turns out true ... which I highly doubt, who in gods name has chosen LA Noire to come to the Switch in favor of Bully??? Bully 2 being developed for Switch would a dream come true. Please R*

I bought this game 5 years ago on PC and still can't finish it. Great game but the pace at times is too slow and I end up putting it down for many months.

Yea I left the game twice, both times thinking I'll never go back. The clue finding can get pretty tedious (I like to look for *some* of the clues, but if some are missing it gets tiring to look for the rest) and I still think the interrogation system is pretty terrible.

 

And what I hate most is there's always one and only one right way to do anything and the game gives worse rating if you try to do something in a way that may seem more logical. Such as there was a murder case where I had the option to either try to identify the victim by going to the cleaners (a super long shot if you ask me), or by checking 3 houses which submitted missing person reports. Not only does the latter seem more reasonable, the outcome is also funnier. Yet I got a worse rating because of that.

 

Not to mention those cases which turn out to have been solved wrong anyway, and the whole interrogation system which always have one and only one (again) way to solve them. Do anything else and the game goes TZZZZZZ WRONG which is super discouraging to me.

 

So what I ended up doing is just have a walkthrough with me at all times; after finding a few clues by myself, I just checked where the rest of them are and I never bothered with interrogations myself, I just went by the walkthrough. That allowed me to skip the bullsh*t parts and just enjoy the flow of the story. Unless someone enjoys the adventure game tropes, everything is much better that way.

 

Also, trying to figure things myself can lead to missing out on the newspapers collectibles, which are essential to understanding the story. So I skipped most of the game and ended up loving the story which made the whole experience worthwhile.

These are a lot of pages indeed. I would say you might share the most interesting points, including the transition of the game from PS2 to PS3, and if it's included, the story of what happened when the ownership of the title moved to Rockstar. Maybe you can also share interesting pictures if there are any. Spider-Vice might have good ideas, so see if he will reply.

Oh so you meant physical folders. That gets even more interesting. Given the impossibility for you to scan them, I'd say try to take pictures of the parts you find most interesting that you can share with us. Screenshots, concept art, stuff like that.

Dude seriously get it scanned, we'll make a donation for you if you need it. Like, you aren't serious that you come here saying you have these folders and then keep them to yourself??

 

Or at worst use some 'scanning' smartphone app that can deskew photos of documents.

 

As for the legalities - first, don't be silly, second, Team Bondi doesn't even exist anymore so there's nobody left to sue you.

 

BTW it's funny, I thought LAN started as a PS3 exclusive. Possibly early in PS3 development when a 'PS3' was still partially on paper so PS2 pads and tech was probably just used as placeholders.

 

In particular the PS3 sixaxis controller wasn't finalized until fairly short time before the console released. Remember the boomerang design?

But I am unable to upload pictures directly from my phone and I do not have a PC.

Also I am uneasy to upload my pics to a dodgy website or a cloud.

 

 

I am open to other ideas. Please send me a private message if you have an idea to bring pictures into this thread. Preferably a Mod, please.

Google Drive comes with most Android phones and Google accounts, if you have a Gmail account you can also use this on an iPhone with the app. It's quite the opposite of a dodgy cloud service, as it's one of the most used in the world.

It also allows you to share directly via the device.

 

If you prefer a safer option, I can send you my email via a PM.

What exactly is the problem with sharing the whole thing? I'm not a fan of clouds but that's what they are best for. And no, you really don't need to worry about anybody suing you.

 

The 'no sharing/reprinting/etc.' rule only applies to people who signed it. Only they could be sued in theory. You, at most, can can get a DMCA claim (if you host the stuff on servers of a USA-based company). Purely theoretically you might be asked to give away the document to R* but that would be a very dubious request which you'd be safe to ignore. No, nobody is going to go through all those hoops to identify you over the internet to get a 12-years old outdated document.

 

Anyway if your idea of sharing is to just email a few individuals one or 2 pages over email or put them on forums, then you're just a tease. Either help the community, take photos of the entire thing and upload it to GDrive which is easily done from your phone, or stop teasing.

 

(Okay I guess I woke up really cranky today, sorry.)
