Its not the traffic but my partner and the end case rating that bugs me.

I cannot wait to replay this game and porposely do lousy on the cases. I'll do that once i get a 5 star rating on all of them.

the map is 8 square miles give or take. can't say what percentage is used - but it 'feels' sprawling. the story-line gameplay is very engaging, so i haven't really explored all that much.

 

second the opinion that i really need to start a second game in order to act badly and get a better idea of just what rewards there are to exploration. the game really makes you feel like you should behave - it's an odd thing to ppl on a GTA forum lol, but successfully done, and a credit to the game.

How bad are we talkin about,

Bad as in San Andreas or as BAD as GTA IV on the Algonquin bridge, all cars are weaving through traffic if you know what I am talkin about.

You can go anywhere whenever you want. Sure it feels urgent to go along with the cases but if you want to go somewhere do it there's no time limit on the cases.

Loved the Arson D-3's line about there being more religion in the end of a nightstick than a thousand churches - that is some hardboiled sh*t, which I think I need tattooed somewhere. Great game, the reproduction of '47 LA is mind blowing.

 

Chinatown Wars, you need to clear an investigation desk. It explains the rest of the procedure both in game and in the manual.

You'll be able to collect vehicles and answer to calls, collect land marks, as well as free roam once you beat the game.

That's what happens when you get too low a rating.

 

By the way, just re-did the Naked City case that I complained about earlier and no confusion here. The reason it happened to me was because it took me 7 tries to get the silly suspect tracking part done, and by that time I'd forgotten that he pawned a super expensive cigarette case.

Cars in the left hand lane turn right. I've had a car stop in the middle of the road then drive on. They cut you up a lot, the AI seems to ignore red lights 90% of the time, sometimes cars will just drive into you (like the GTA IV bridges)

Even with my sirens on, I've torn through an intersection to be T boned by another car - both cars were destroyed.

 

One of these did lead to an epic moment though; I went through an intersection, fast with sirens on, and a car ignored the red light and my sirens, zoomed across, I T-boned him, and my bonnet (hood) flew off, and knocked a ped over.

 

THE AI isn't so bad that it's unplayable, you just have to be on your toes, as the traffic is a bit errant - this is a bigger thing if you're speeding with or without sirens on.

 

Also traffic will slow down and pull over to the RIGHT with sirens on (as i think they should) so beware not to "under-take" traffic

 

 

IMO though LA NOIRE is missing a few things: The ability to pull over drivers and give them tickets, or arrest peds when they piss you off (crashing into a police car is a crime!). I REALLY wanted the ability to at least punch peds, not kill them but this is a "good guy" game so that makes sense not being there. I think they should have had the ability to pull over drivers and arrest peds as mentioned 5 seconds ago

 

It's worth a buy, but only if you go into it NOT expecting it to be like GTA, or True Crime or anything.

Driving is just a by product of the game i think. The emphasis is definitely of the cases.

Have to finish Alan Wake before I start this for 'real'. I got it from the shop yesterday morning and checked it out last night at a friend's place after a BBQ. Man, I was f*cking amazed about how cool the game is.

 

The epressions in this game are awesome, though a tad exaggerated at times. And odd that eventhough a person is balatantly lying you may not per say pick 'lie' (and you have to pick doubt). Anyways cool game and I'm amazed at how fun this is. Also finally my super careful driving will come in handy in this game I noticed .

Well I've played about 15% and I'm really impressed. Won't be surprised if this gets GOTY.

I know the facial expression tech was mainly meant for the questioning parts, but they really bring the cut-scenes to life too. After getting used to this game it'll be difficult going back to games that don't have expression like this.

 

I'm getting a strike rate of about 2/3 with the questioning stuff.

And seem to be taking a Dirty Harry approach with the side-missions. There might've been a few situations where I could've brought the perp in alive... but 'Code 4' is becoming Phelps' catch-cry.

 

I wish there was a log of the instructions that show up in the top left. Sometimes I miss them. GTA and RDR had that.

It'd be nice to have 'Cole's day off'. I want to go cruising through the city, and I just did, but it affected the success of the mission I was on.

And I was a bit sad to see that I've already done 6 out of 21 of the main missions. I hope the game doesn't get finished that quickly.

Got to play the game a bit at my big brother's place, played through 'The Lipstick Murder' or whatever it's called, from the restaurant to the end, and saw the beginning animation of the next case after that - wow.

 

The gameplay is just beautiful, reminds me of Mafia II more than RDR or IV, but then again, the game's by Bondi and not Rockstar. Played it on a HD-Ready, but the game looks and sounds like audiovisual sex. The crime scene investigation is really original - like the whole game - and great. Loved the interrogations aswell.

 

I will be borrowing this from my bro after he's done with it, can't really wait

Sure, the occasional clusterf*ck will happen but the traffic and peds are generally very forgiving in this game. Use your siren or horn if you can't stop running into sh*t. Also, the map is too big? What the f*ck? It can never be too big. I spent about six hours exploring and driving different cars on the first day and didn't even see everything. That is a GOOD thing.

Just finished it, brilliant story. Now to go back, finish up collecting the cars and replay it at a later date to get better case ratings!
