Something I really think this game is missing though, is a right stick First person view, would be very handy and more immersive for the crime scenes, its sometimes hard to feel like a real detective solely from 3rd person.

so far, while this game is good, i'm slightly, slightly disappointed. I wasn't expecting it to be like gta or anything, Maybe I haven't progressed through the game enough for it to get interesting (only just become a detective), so when i get a chance to play it again later, we'll see. So far though it hasn't grabbed me immediately.

Wait 'til you hit Homicide, cases are awesome so far.

i turned off all the hint music etc so i can't be sure i've found all the clues or be led by the nose to finding them, and haven't spent any intuition points at all - i feel like i'm better off for it.

I'm quoting this and posting again for a reason. I can't recommend doing this enough!!!

 

It should be the default setting with the ability to turn on hint vibe and music cues.

 

 

And I'm quoting both of you. I can not imagine trying to play this game any other way. I even try not to use any intuition.

 

Playing it with cues and chimes is kind of like copping out. Its totally more immersive doing it all by yourself.

The only UK exclusive thing I'm aware of is The Naked City and Badge Chaser thing that Game gave out with preorder editions.

I got 'em both, and I live in Finland. So they sure as hell ain't "UK exclusive".

Maybe it's just a Game thing then, i'm not aware of anything else over here

I don't think there is any region specific pre-order exclusives, I just meant the case that was said to be PS3 exclusive, doesn't look as if the UK get it, but the US and Canada do, unless it'll be on the Playstation Store for free when it comes back up.

all of these exclusive 'dlcs' will be available to everyone in a couple months time for d/l on live and psn.

You know what I thought about this game? I thought... hey this could be the first 'tv series' game, where they continuously add new stories (cases) to it, but after being an idiot and seeing some of the spoilers its not going to happen

However I think that someone should do that with a game.

Oh man Naked City is f*cking annoying.

 

The thing is, yeah, I get the beginning. A model or whoever who works at a top-end store of some sort dies in what is apparently a suicide by sleeping pill overdose, but obviously there's foul play involved and then you find out she died from morphine overdose. Now I get the part where you ask questions to her good friend and the good friend's finacee, but how the f*ck does it turn into a robbery investigation all of a sudden? Jesus Christ I should just turn off the console if I'm not 140% focused on the game because it seems that missing out even one detail in a conversation means that at some point you just don't quite know what the hell is going on and why the hell I'm doing this when we were investigating a goddamn murder.

I guess it's fair to compare it to IV, but at the same time it isn't. It feels like something completely different, more along the lines of The Getaway, if you've ever played that. It's a game that does have a large and vast city to roam about in, but I would not classify it as a typical sandbox game. The city is there to create a realistic backdrop for the story, not much more. It is meant to be this way. If you take the game for what it is, it's amazing.

The city is merely a backdrop for the cases. Free-roam is the format it's in but it's not an adventure free for all shoot em up.

 

I didn't even bother 'exploring.' Although this city is beautifully crafted and it would be sweet to have some crazy action in it, the cases is where the fun is at. They're so intriguing and you are constantly thinking that it keeps your mind of really thinking about a GTA style game.

 

Now, after playing L.A.N, I'd love to play this sort of game in another era again. Maybe work cases based off the likes of Ted Bundy, Dahmer, BTK killer etc. Possibly set in the 70's or 80's or even modern times.

 

Anybody ever hear the pedestrians say funny sh*t like:

I was under the impression it was a R* game, looking into it I realise the error I made, in that case I'll be very glad there's no multiplayer and buy it , and thanks for everyone sharing opinion.

This big. I have no idea how large it is in square feet or whatever, but it feels vast and more importantly, just right.

You can commandeer vehicles. Keep in mind that you're a police officer/detective. Parked cars are to my knowledge unlocked.

Too big imo. For a game like this it doesn't need to be as big, and i feel as though the size of it has taken away possible other features.

Again, just install the game to the HDD, it will help fixing the problem, you will even notice an increase in the frame rates.

I think though, and this is just a guess, that it's probably 3/4 times bigger then IV? Its defo bigger, but LC is more interesting.
