You've been spoiled by Ass Effect.

I'm pretty wow'd by that preview. A genuine Rstar detective title: what I never knew I wanted so badly. And it will have gunplay, so that's icing on the cake. Having to actually scour a crime scene and really look for clues that aren't as obvious as the glowing piece of paper beside the bed is sure gonna be wonderful.

But, the crime investigation explained in that preview has me confused. Why was there an actual arrest at the end? Just for killing a damn pig?

Why spoiler it? Buncha Yahoo answerers say its not illegal. I dunno, I can see why it would be though. Taxes and all.

Read the scans. It walks you through a case. Solving cases sounds really flexible and interesting.

I meant the visuals!

Other than the detailed characters it looks... plain.

Oh. Yea I guess I can see where you're coming from. Hopefully it's just that these pics don't do the city justice.

Then again they are recreating 1940's L.A. down to each street and shop (supposedly) so it could be so massive that it lacks detail (like the True Crime games).

If they don't release this on PC eventually I'm gonna be pissed. I might do something really stupid too.

Yeah, I'm already pissed it's no longer a PS3 exclusive and I don't even own one, which means there is far less incentive for me to buy one now. It seems to me that when a game is developed for both consoles, the quality takes a nose dive in the process. And I really despise how the PC gets the shaft when it's always the superior platform.

Oh well, I guess I'll be playing it on my xbrick, but the screens are rather lackluster, so if the gameplay doesn't do something extraordinary, then here's another one lost.

And what's even worse Rockstar is always talking about how Xbox is holding their games back. But PC is superior to PS3 so it's holding PC back in a way. And they don't mention PC anywhere. It's like they don't even think of it as gaming platform anymore. Just a silly thing that deserves nothing more then a lousy unoptimized and broken port. My respect for Rockstar is dropping each day and an increased rate.

how on earth is this mayb the most expensive game in production? and how does it have the best facial animation? the game looks graphically bad, if they wont it to be AAA game they better start advertising it more and enhancing it.

oh u nub

Its not out until the end of this year. That's a lot of months for them to finish off the game and put finishing touches on it.

Besides, If they actually make the story and game play interesting, amazing graphics wont be needed.

There scans of a magazine in early stages. Why so quick to judge?

and how does it have the best facial animation?

and how can you judge animations from a still photo!?

And I suggest you read those scans where they talk about how they are creating the animations. They put little sensors all over the actors and have them act out the scenes as they will appear in the game. Now many games do this, however Team Bondi is tracking even the tiniest movements of the fact with sensors tracking every little muscle of the face...even the eyelids! Not to mention that they are recording the audio and animation at the same time in a soundproof room so that the lips and audio sync up perfectly in the game. The guy why wrote the GameInformer article said that the facial animation was so realistic that at first he thought it was a video of a real person!

For all of those bashing the game, don't bash it until it comes out. Look at GTA IV's beta screenshots. Many of them included things like undetailed cars, Niko's face looking flat and blurry, etc. To me, the game looks good; there are some things that need to be cleaned up, though.

Now, if it does come out and looks like it does now, then I will bash it. devil.gif

It's starting to irritate me about how people keep praising Rockstar for the work on L.A Noire, they're the publishers, not the developers. Team Bondi are the ones making the game, not Rockstar, unless Team Bondi are being extremely lazy and making Rockstar do a lot of the work, although I doubt that's likely.

Anyhow, title looks awesome. Coming for the 360 as well now. Party.

Thanks for bringing that up! I thought it was just another R* studio like North or Vancouver. But I looked up and found out that it's not.

Credit where credit's due! icon14.gif

I also found out that Halo was originally being published by R*. It's weird to think 'what if'...what if Microsoft hadn't bought Bungie? I'm not much a fan of Halo but it seems to me that it's responsible for keeping the original xbox afloat. Had Microsoft not bought Bungie and made it exclusive it could have been released on PS2 and the 360 may have never been made...

Just something interesting to think about.

well the visuals usually take a nosedive from the PS3 seeing as they can make much more beautiful games but the Coding on a PS3 is so hard that developers just adapt the 360 code for the PS3 version otherwise every game on PS3 would be as beautiful as U2.

Yeah, how dare them prefer to develop a game for a console? Those clunky, good for nothing things. They should just scrap them and develop exclusively for PC.

Hey, at this point when PC gaming is falling apart I'd settle with a port as long as it's not broken.

No one is debating that. But it's no secret that games don't sell as well on the PC even when they're released simultaneously. Take MW2 for example:

user posted image

Fallout 3:

55%--Xbox 360

28%--PS3

17%--PC

Don't get me wrong, it sucks that developers are screwing over PC gamers like this but you can't ignore the facts. PC development just doesn't pay off nearly as much as console development. Not to mention that most PC games are cracked and put on torrent sites within days of release (sometimes earlier).

So, any other news on the game?

I've been waiting this game for ever. It looks great.

Can't wait to walk in the 40's LA.

If u wanna see a movie that might have inspired the guys at R*/Bondi make sure you rent "Chinatown" by Roman Polanski with Jack Nicholson (clicky)

As for the game I found this article... a bit old. colgate.gif

Not to mention that most PC games are cracked and put on torrent sites within days of release (sometimes earlier).

There are some valid arguments though this doesn't make any sense. Xbox version of MW2 was pirated and available as a torrent about a week before the 'real game' had been released. And this business is booming. Yes there are PC gamers that torrent games... but keep in mind this stamp can be put on the faces of Xbox360 (or well, console gamers in general).

And where do you get those numbers from if I may ask? What does this 8% and 17% represent? If it's from a total of 1 million sales it is indeed sad. Though, 55% of 1 million sales ain't that much either. Give us a better view on the matter. (Don't consider this as bashing I'm just curious).

On top of that: with each PC CoD title the sales dropped. Reason? PC gamers are getting shafted over and over again. Lazy consoleports, ridiculous support and whatnot.

Anyways, I was curious about this game and I hate to see yet another promising game NOT making its way to the PC platform. Atleast we still have Mafia II... for how long that's going to take and IF they don't change their minds...

I think it's fair for me to say that torrenting is much more of an issue with PC games than console games. 360 titles are rarely put up on torrent sites while you can go to a number of sites and find pretty much any PC game you want.

Developers and publishers realize that the average Joe isn't going to spend the time to buy/build and maintain a proper gaming computer and have responded in kind. It sucks but it's the truth. The vast majority of people don't even know how remove the side panel of a PC let alone install a new graphics card, replace a motherboard, add more RAM. And that's just the hardware side! I have a friend who played Half Life 2 for months with no sound because he couldn't figure out the problem. Turns out it was a simple driver issue.

Consoles, on the other hand, are simple. You plug it in and you're ready to go. You don't have to worry about drivers or out-of-date hardware or system requirements. It's simple. And if it breaks you just send it in and get it fixed or replaced since it's assembled and sold by one company instead of having a myriad of different hardware and software. The single-supplier thing also makes it easy to market and make a profit from.

I don't remember where I got those sales figures but 8% is pretty pathetic whether it's out of a thousand or several million.

I love PC gaming and am sad to see that it's fallen on hard times. But is has fallen on hard times no matter how much loyal PC gamers deny it.

Consoles aren't so bad, though. At least not the real ones--the 360 and PS3. At least they're trying to please both sides. Many games on them strive to impress from both a core and broad standpoint as opposed to the PC--which mainly draws in core gamers--and the blatantly casual-aimed Wii.

Now I'm not saying PC gaming is dead--it's still going rather strong in the grand scheme of things. But consoles will most likely keep gaining steam while the PC will slowly but surely lose it unless it becomes more useridiot-friendly.

Sales from Steam and other digital services weren't included. Fallout 3 has ~4-5 mln copies sold on the PC.

I've just read this article on the Escapist: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/...sand-Pages-Long

Apparently the script is 22 times longer than the entire Lord of the Rings Trilogy. That is insane. It is also number 8 on the 10 most expensive games of all time http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/...sand-Pages-Long

And it hasn't even been released.

I hardly know anything about this game, but it is intriguing me. It seems like it could be an epic; but then again I worry it could be a massive flop. I can't even attempt to make a spot judgement because as far as I know only 1 trailer has been released which reveals only the setting a bit of the premise.

Can anyone on these forums enlighten me further about this game?

Edit: Turns out Team Bondi have responded to this by saying the script is actually 2200 pages long - not 22000. It is still a monster of a script though.
