L.A. Noire

Well I'm glad you children stick to your childish games, especially if you're going to judge two games without even playing them. First one because it's set in an era same as Mafia II, and the second one because... uhh... why is GTA V going to be crap again? Oh right, because GTA IV was, makes sense to me!

No, I just like to play the games which are fun. LA Noire and the direction that R* are taking doesn't convince me they going toward the "fun" factor anymore. It is all about realism now, which sucks IMO. I have given up hope with R* and looking for an alternative. If the Saints Row series can give the gamers what they want, which is fun, then it is a good game. LA Noire is just doesn't sound like a fun game to me. And I will end this here.

LOL keep it up dozingoff.gif Your really showing how childish you are. Since when did realism automatically = crap? In that case Saints Row is the bestest game ever because reality has no bearing whatsoever in it. I'm sorry but there has to be something or it'll just be a clusturf*ck of jumping around just cause its fun? damn Saints Row 2 put me to sleep for how boring it was how do you explain that mr "realism is the suxxors"

... You can also jump around in IV biggrin.gif . I don't understand why people already say that this game will such because its not fun and such. I don't think this ever has been done before, so how do you know? Exploring the 40's L.A. and driving around with classy cars while following the murder cases will be extremely fun, I'm sure of it.

LOL all I know is Rockstar's name is attached to it and in my experience thats a win in my book. I have yet to be disapointed by a Rockstar game (I know this is Team Bondi but you can see Rock*s influence all over this game)

gotta love the trolls, there's a certain difference between an opinion and smearing what you think in everyones facing due to a self-importance insecurity.

only really just caught up with LA Noire, I'm not a huge fan of the era (but I shant dedicate a post to that singular point wink.gif ) however it's looking pretty damn good, this'll go in my 'probably get it when the price drops' list.

LOL he's going to every thread that has any mention of GTA IV and then goes on a big rant on how it sucks and blah blah blah you can't survive a nuke to the face like in saints row blah blah blah. I really can't take him seriously anymore.

I know I'm a few pages too late, but if companies gave us what gamers want, Call Of Duty would have uber realistic guns, I would have been driving an BMW M3 in Mafia II and floating around Liberty City on a Jetpack. what consumers want and what companies set out to do are two different things. Rockstar have always been a 'lets see if we can make this work' type company, but it seems your phrase 'what gamers want' usually equates to massive explosions, a sh*tty story and based 100% around multiplayers. you're the exact demographic that keeps gaming afloat due to blind loyalty.

/end rant, back on topic? sorry about that blush.gif

Holy Moses, Claude4Catalina, that's exactly what I've thought so many times over and over after reading wishlists for several video games. It's just far too easy to mouth off these days when you can have a gaming company read your message within a minute using Twitter or Facebook, so a lot of crap gets in there. Back in the day you had to think what you wrote.

What I'm trying to say is: most gamers DON'T know what they want in a game. There are people with good ideas, but the majority of wishes/suggestions go along the lines of "I want online racing in LA Noire!!!11".

I don't see how people make an opinion without playing the game.

I also don't see how GTA IV was more "realistic" than other titles.

The graphics and animations were better, physics were better, those things are good for a game.

What's the deal with those passes?

Is like this, you buy a game you get one so the dlc you get is free then by activating that code, and if you buy a game from someone who owned the game and used the code, then the dlc won't be free?

?

R* nor team bondi gave any info on what this online pass does but something f*cking smells like sh*t with this online pass crap. it's bad enough that used game owners had to pay for these but owners of new copies have to buy them now?

NO just f*cking NO!!!!!!!

The line has to be drawn somewhere so f*ck thier online pass and f*ck thier DLC if this is the case. This generation has saw a lot of leeching from the customers by the publishers and we need to stop this. so I ask all of you to not buy these passes because if you do then other companies will follow suit.

Online Passes (as far as EA Games have implemented them so far) is a system where your game has a special activation key included with it that allows you access to online content. Multiplayer, DLC, etc.

So, if you trade the game in, or give it to a friend or something, they will have to pay $10-20 for a new activation key to access the content that was included in the original purchase. It's more or less what PC games have been doing for years with CD keys and whatnot. Rockstar might be doing something completely different though, I'm not sure.

If that's the case, I simply won't play online. DLC is bad enough, I honestly consider it the death of the game industry, but paying to play online? f*ck that. If you purchased the game new, if you made a concious choice to give these people money and support them, why should you have to pay to get extra missions or stupid things like new clothes or weapons? And why the Hell should you be expected to shell out more cash just to improve the gameplay experience by going online?

Considering the ammount of piracy, hacking and general dickishness amongst gamers, I don't think the honest majority should have to pay for every little thing. That's the kind of crap that really annoys me with LittleBigPlanet, I feel like I'm being punished as a player just because they couldn't be arsed to put more stuff in the game.

DLC should be free and so should online play.

Online passes work a bit differently. If you purchase a new copy of the game, you will have access to all of the online content, so long as you put in the included code. However, if you give the game to somebody or trade it in, whoever buys the used copy will have to pay for a new code to unlock the online features. This means that if you have a sibling or friend that wants to borrow or play your game under their own XBL/PSN account, they will have to pony up in order to use the online features. So... to avoid paying extra: Don't buy used games, and don't have any friends/relatives interested in games.

As far as DLC goes, I'm only against it in certain cases. Things like TLaD, TBoGT, and Undead Nightmare are actually really good expansions with a lot put into them. I don't have any issues paying extra for stuff like that.

However, other games that already have the DLC included on the disk at launch, and charge you an extra $10-15 on top of the $60 purchase just to unlock it is really friggen lame. I recall one game where the last few missions of the story mode were indivual DLC packs. So you couldn't finish the story at all unless you purchased all of them.

Its only the future if you let be. Don't just accept this as the inevitable if game companies find no one is buying into this crap then they'll give up. Thats why Games for windows live never got anywhere cause no one was willing to put up with it now its all but gone. The only reason Xbox users pay for live is because they accept that as the norm. The simple fact is greedy companies get away with being greedy only cause we let them.

I know I'm wasting my time this is probably going to sell like hotcakes.

To true, it sounds lame but gamers need to take a stand against the greedy developers/producers. I'm tired of paying £10 every month or so for new DLC and I don't get why Microsoft feel they can charge me £40 a year for online but also have to pay £50 on top for a wireless adapter. I see one exception in DICE who do give us free content or reasonably priced content that is bigger and better than what most companies put out.

You know who fits that description as well? Rockstar, the publishers of this game. McNamara doesn't seem the type of guy who would push DLC either. This deserves the benefit of doubt, at least.

Yh thats a fair point to make, Undead nightmare was one of the best priced DLC's I have played and the EFLC were a good buy. Basically its Activision and Microsft to an extent who sell us overpriced crap

Ever heard of Valve? No major company is as good to their fans or as generous as Valve.

Over 200 free updates to TF2 and free DLC coming for all systems for Portal 2? f*ck yeah.

Rockstar however are really disappointing me in recent years. The GTA IV episodes and Undead Nightmare were decent expansions but the weapon and skin packs aren't worth money and should be in the damn game anyways.

Now there's all this LA Noire bullsh*t already and I haven't even started about the console exclusivity yet.

Not buying their games until they're on PC.

DLC expansions are worth my money (Fallout DLC, EFLC, Undead Nightmare) but map, weapon and character skin packs are not, hence I don't buy them.

Then Valve give all away for free. Now we're full circle again.

True and good points with valve. Could you possibly give me some advice on getting a good gaming PC as I assume you have one

I remember the same arguments a few years ago when episodic and DLC were just coming around. As has been stated, the crap won't last if we don't buy into it. My issue with DLC is that I don't have the hard drive space. Things like Episodes From Liberty City and Undead Nightmare were good DLC that I was willing to pay to get... but I needed them to be on disc. Likewise, when enough time has passed and Rockstar puts the additional cases onto disc... I will buy them too.

We don't even know what this Rockstar pass is. No online in LA Noire so that rules that out. It could be all the exclusive dlc from the retailers or who knows. This is Rockstar they treat their customers better then other companys i can think of. *cough* activison *cough*

Having a look at the legit box openings of PS3 and the 360 then there is no slip of paper in either cases which would suggest inputting a code to get this 'Rockstar pass'. So either that means it's made up or you'll have to pay for it via PSN or Xbox marketplace even if you purchased a brand new copy of the game.

100% correct.

I've had many debates on Youtube with people who accept this DLC sh*t. Not just any DLC though, but tiger woods DLC, Need for speed, which were put on the store before the game even came out... Its a f*cking sick move, and i dont know how any sane person can not see that they are getting f*cked in the ass. Its only going to get worse, so we need to halt it right now.

DLC is good concept, but in most cases it is being executed in a disgusting way.

Agree with Rockworm and Darrel, big time. There is nothing that can't be done if we raise our voice as one.

Don't take any of that industrial bollocks, make that change; don't let it f*cking happen, I know for a fact these big companies like Activision charging 10 pound a f*cking DLC, I ain't taking any of that. R* is an exception, 15 pound for DLC that will last you about 5 days with side-missions and other awesome sh*t?

Remember that time where GFWL was a charged service? Yeah, MS realised we got f*cking Steam for FREE and then they realised "Who da f*ck pay for dat?". Don't take it, stand up.

That's what I call a DLC.

So you believe some DLC should be paid for? I really can't understand that. We've gave them our business, we're loyal customers, we're not pirating their games because we respect their work and want them to do well for themselves. Why do they feel the need to hustle us anyway? It's like gamers are being punished for their loyalty and enjoyment of the product.

There has never been DLC I have felt warranted my money. Well, I don't really class EFLC as DLC, because I only purchased it once they released it in the shops. But apart from that, I've never played along with this foolish game. It all seems so illogical.

Sadly gamers like us are in the minority. People are still throwing tons of cash on DLC.

I know some people like to use the argument you don't have to BUY it. its optional! Sure, but when companies are purposely leaving out content to sell especially on the same day the game has come out (which is diabolical btw) it still affects me. I dont get a full game which i paid full price for. Its not right, and thats the bottom line.

Anyways 5 more dayss
