What are you talking about? A/G on the PS3 has been going on for awhile now. I do not plan on buying on buying 'episodes from liberty city'.

 

Anyway as people from the Xbox side said A/G war doesn't work well in the DLC.

Well it can work. You just need a timed Free Mode, teams having a certain piece of clothing they must where to identify team (optional), and a spectator to keep track of teams and score. It definately won't work as well as a TDM, but it can always be done.

you have not played against the buzzard, unlimited rockets, just hold that button down and the ground team has no chance. Unless they were inside a building popping out every few seconds. The air/ground pilots are great with the miniguns, give them rockets and its over. Not too mention the guns on the buzzard far exceed the annihilator in regards to fire rate and range. Wait till to you get in one and see for yourself. I am barely decent and I smash ground players all day long in a buzzard.

I can see where you're coming from, but it changes the main purpose of A/G War to exclude using the missiles. A/G War was originally made for people on the ground to become good at taking out pilots. Then again, I'm probably just overthinking as random pilots always get health packs when they are about to go down (which is against the rules of A/G War). I feel miniguns only can be a rule though.

but as you know, scumbag pilots would use rockets because they have them. The miniguns on the buzzard far exceed the annihilator and the guns are no better on tbogt. It might actually benefit if the ground team put the settings on snipers only.

Yeah, the rockets are way too useful for the pilots themselves. In GTA IV, if you wanted to shoot somebody with the Annihilator and not die, you had to orbit and shoot in first person or cinematic minigun view. In TBOGT you see pilots using the Buzzard's rockets in third person, and they still hit everything that they fly towards.

You guys with your money and HD capture cards…lol. I am a little different than you John, I could fly better on my SD TV than my HD TV. Mostly because I learned to fly on my SD TV and it is 4:3 ratio instead of 16:9 with all the HD TVs. Here is a tip for people playing in SD that I found out about a month ago. Go to “display” setting on the GTA IV menu, and then turn the “flicker filter” to “OFF”. This helps with the blurriness in SD.

 

Hold on, I thought m2ts was MP4?? I use power director 7, and when I encode in “MPEG4”, it has m2ts at the end when its done. Well anyways, last time I tested on you tube, MP4 (or m2ts) video quality was slightly better than its flv counter part but the MP4 file was much bigger also.

Lin: I started playing this game with a 20 inch old tube. I found the change to a HD TV improved the way I flew the helicopter quite a bit, but going back to SD on the HD TV to record was really bad. I think I must have got the set up totally wrong though. I found the image really bad and it hurt my eyes after a while of playing, which put me off recording. I bet I could get SD working better now since I've learned a bit about the TV's settings and that anti-flicker thing you mention sounds promising too, but after buying the hauppauge, a laptop and powerdirector, I'd be a bit depressed to learn that the SD would have been ok if I'd played around with it a bit more, so I'm not going to try. It's good fun editing and putting together videos anyway. I've hardly touched the PS3 recently. My best work so far:

Working out an A/G War on Ballad would be a truly great way for players to learn to take on those overpowered Buzzards. There's definitely a lot of people who hate how overpowered they are here on xbox & I think you guys in PS3-land will soon agree. Ground forces would have to change up their game to become comfortable engaging from rooftops and quickly diving to better cover. There's plenty of very good new weapons to use against Air Units (Advanced Sniper for long range, Explosive Shotgun for Med range, & Sticky Bombs for Air Mines), so range is not as restrictive for GTs anymore. (But when that Buzzard gets close enough, be ready for those rockets to come out!)

 

The most frustrating thing about testing this on the 360 for us was working out the team blip situation in FM. Depending on how many players you have, I would recommend trying this with about a 2 pilots to 5 GT ratio. Put a couple GTs on the ground level of Star Junction and 3 on rooftops with all forces watching each other's back. When one is engaged by a Buzzard, they run/ dive/ take cover while teammates take shots with snipers, etc.

 

As a detester of spawn raping pilots, I would really like to see A/G War come to Ballad to help train better ground forces. It will just take time to get all the kinks worked out and unfortunately my RL is preventing me from stepping up for the 360 peeps. If I can help in anyway let me know.

Lungs is cool and can say what he likes Chris. That's what I like about you Lungs, you're not afraid to say what you think. Anyway, I was giving the guys in that game every chance to take me out, which they did a few times, assault rifles, AA on, head-on attacks a lot of the time. I'm more interested in the creative and technical side of this video making process. I think it's fascinating. I changed the laptop I bought for a more powerful model and I'm going to start experimenting with 13.5 Mbps files - these ones were 5Mbps.

 

You know what I did? The wife studied film making in the US for her degree and won national prizes apparently. Two years after she left the US, there were still people ringing her up to offer her jobs there. I've never been arsed to watch her films, so I forced her to watch one of these videos and then asked her: "did you ever make any films as good as that?" The look she gave me was withering to say the least. Lol.

I work weekends now and cant participate, and I am still wondering where SJ has gone off to. He is an awesome dude. I am very opinionated as you can tell. You wont ever have a challenge in fm because the players dont know each other and dont team up.

That's the good part about the AG war. I don't know of anything more challenging in terms of ground attack. The only other helicopter challenge is dogfighting, but you need to join a clan or something to get good at that I think. If you attack everyone in a game, though, you often get an angry group after you that give you a hard time if you land or crash or whatever, which is great fun. They also often invite in some helicopter specialist to take you down.

 

I hope Jude shows up for TBoGT. He must be in love, poor devil.

you may not have a lot of fun dogfighting in tbogt, most pilots just square up and hold BOTH buttons down and the miniguns are very strong and 1 rocket hits you you are on fire in both spots.

Compared to most people anyways, I find myself a good fighter pilot in the game (25 kills in Air Superiority is most I got in one match). @John: Yeah but even with these tweaks, you can't beat HD quality. I wish I had an HD capture card but I don't know if I can justify the cost. The main reason I would want to get an HD capture card is to get my shows and movies off my DVR in HD.

 

I think SJ still plays a little GTA IV but on his roommates account.

Lin: they are a bit expensive, but they have a lot of possiblities these hauppages. I've used it quite a lot this week and I've got 20 gigs of video recorded. I've even managed to get footage of a guy who tried to take cover in a gas station, which is quite rare as not many people are that stupid. The thing is, you never know when that special moment is going to arrive, so it's tempting to record every game you play.

 

The quality of the playback is pretty amazing if you play it back through a HD TV - youtube is still looking like crap by comparison, but I'm working on it. I'm absolutely sure, though, that if you could record your dvr content with one you'd be very pleased with the results. The thing has only crashed on me twice and on one of those occasions the recorded file was still ok up to the point of the crash.

 

Booze: you've gone a bit quiet. Are you wondering what to do with all your gameplay footage? I've come to the conclusion that it's best to pause recording soon after anything special occurs so that later when you come to sort the footage you just have to check the last bit of each file.

 

Owl: I'll be on for the matches tomorrow, but If there are a lot of people I may be neutral so I can record the game.

I should of posted this earlier but the UK switches to Daylight savings tomorrow so again anyone who has switched to daylight savings will be playing a hour later then normal.

 

I'm concerned that I haven't any messages saying 'what happened to last weeks match?' from people who I've contated via PSN and don't seem to read this topic. Also by the fact that only two people showed up and three people said they would not be there.

 

Anyway, I'll be inviting people into party mode before going to the TDM lobby this week since I and I'm sure anyone else who shows up on time gets bored of waiting 20-30 minutes for everyone else to show up.

@Owl: Yeah, there's an entire topic about the patch in the GTA IV MP section. This has also fixed the 50 friend and Bomb Da Base II bugs.
