We no longer have a Trial Match on the PSN side, so make sure you read the rules on the 1st page and follow them.  PSN players have gotten good at quickly kicking anyone that doesnt follow the rules.  We also quickly go over them on the mic before the match, so no worries.

Have fun with COD: MW everybody, you're all coming off my friends list next week. I don't need, literally, 20 useless accounts that are never on GTA cluttering up my friends list.

 

I really don't need to be sitting there, waiting for people to show, getting "A v G" messages from 2 or 3 people even though I'm not the event organizer, looking at my friends list and how many people are actually online, wishing and hoping they'll log off their other game any minute now!

 

I'm not happy and I don't know what else to do but show up and wait and if that isn't possible, there is no point having all you people on my friends list.

I never saw Allpilotsmustdie come online so I never bothered coming on GTA to play on saturday but I think I might try and sell mw2 soon. I mean don't get me wrong it's a good game but I get more pissed at it than I have fun with so I think I should start coming back on gta more and just go on mw2 when I actually feel like it or sell it, I don't know.

 

I hope there's an A/G next week it would be a shame not to play so I'll come on even if there's not many people on just incase

Don't worry about it, Chris. I was curious because I didn't know if APMD was a joint account (some organizers do do that sometimes) and that their were other organizers who did not know if I was in yet.

 

Here's an idea: You should have hierarchy ranks and rules regarding hosts. For example, if for some reason you are not available to get a game going, your second/third-in-command will start a game in your place and start the game for you.

That's already kind of going on with the Captains. Usually if the regular host is not available, they host the game. Sharing the APMD/PMD account is not necessary. you can just go to its friends list and invite the people on it

Well, they don't really. I had noticed the way you guys do it and had thought of trying something similar...but you cannot see one account's friend list from a different account, so wouldn't work exactly the same as you guys.

 

Again, I apologize for not being there Saturday. Was taking care of some big problems at work, then had a (very long) business meeting with a cpl folks that might get me out of the (now) sh*t job I am currently in. I didn't realize it would last for over 4 hours! (was a happy hour meeting...was extremely tired and somewhat drunk by the time I got home)

 

I have also been somewhat discouraged by the lack-luster participation lately (not that I have done anything to encourage any enthusiasm, I know). I hope to make a few changes that might inject some new interest in 2010. Still working on ideas, so if anyone here has an idea of how to make this more interesting again (without a MAJOR rehaul), post them here or feel free to PM them to me.

 

This goes for the 360 guys as well...even tho you have more to work with than the PSN side does, you all seem to be keeping your participation up, so would appreciate any suggestions.

Chris: some sort of post in the multiplayer section with a video or two might attract interest and a few new recruits to the game - I’m not sure if it would be allowed by the mods though, but perhaps that’s negotiable. Apart from that, AG war regulars could attempt to recruit some of the players they meet in-game; I’ve done this before a couple of times. Also, bringing some of the stars back to the game (like Lin, Charger, Lungs, Stev) would be bound to attract some interest.

 

I still think the chase would be good, but since we would need a very reliable group of players to do that, I don’t think it’s possible these days.

 

I thought of another variation that would be fun, but we would need a lot of pilots to do it. In brief, there would be two teams made up of four pilots and four GTs in each team. Each team would have a base: one at the airport, the other at helitours. Both teams would load up on weapons and then head towards a big dogfight somewhere over broker. Anyone who died would have to head straight back to their base, they would take up defensive positions. Once the dogfight was over, the winning team would then have to try to capture and hold the enemy’s base, but without going for any extra life or armour; again, once dead, they would have to return home. The defending team would be able to collect weapons, armour and life since they would be fighting in their own territory. Eventually, the invaders would be defeated since they would be facing re-spawning defenders, but before that the fight would be nice. The game would involve a bit of formation flying (pretty), a nice big dogfight and burning helicopters (pretty), dropping GTs off on roof tops and providing air support when trying to hold the enemy’s base (exciting). This type of game might attract more pilots, since most pilots like dogfighting and ground attack in easy locations, but it does require a lot of players.

 

Apart from the above, novelty games with variations in weapon settings might be fun - e.g. Happiness Island, RPGs, darkness, fog.

 

Jude: I notice a lot of people playing MW2 as well, but they’ll probably get bored of it soon enough. I don’t see you using your xxSuperJudexx profile much at the moment. Are you using you’re your old account? I deleted that as I thought you’d stopped using it, but I sent a friend request to it yesterday in case you are using it again. I’m using various secret accounts these days as I like the freedom they give me. I’ll send you my secret account names if you like so we can play a bit.

i would like to add myself into this mix. not for trophies or awards, but to get taught by the best on how to deal with the pilots learning techniques ect. i will obviously be on ground patrol unless someone wants to privately teach me to circle.

@john: Yea, man! I LIKE the idea of teaming Pilots w/GTs! GTs covering Pilots getting new Heli's...Pilots covering GTs while getting into position to defend...many cool and Epic moments possible!!!

 

I have also had the idea of possibly having special "Gang Matches" by inviting Gangs from here to bring there whole crew in for certain matches, but could never figure how to do it...THIS idea would be perfect for that! And would be another way of generating more interest.

 

And I am pretty sure I can post a one-time 'Recruitment' thread on the MP forum without much trbl from the Mods...but will dbl check that with them.

 

I would hate to see the PSN Division go away...I think ppl (especially Pilots) are just kinda bored with it lately. Especially with MW2 out (which is very intense).

Yes, I like John's idea as well. It would be best with a full room but it's probably not realistic to assume we'll be able to get such a room (8 pilots ). But it will probably be fun with half the amount of pilots as well.

What happens to the defeated pilots? They become GT right?

 

Yeah, I think the event could use an overhaul like this. Especially the PS3 side has been doing the same thing for a VERY long time (and only now getting bored of it, which proves how strong the concept is!).

Chris: that game would work if you couldn't replace you heli; if you could, it would just turn into one long, extended dogfight/bitchfight. No, once shot down, a pilot would become a defending GT at his own base, or maybe a neutral observer.

 

About people getting bored. Personally, I haven´t got bored of this game. I love the way you can go from being a hero one moment to an idiot the next. And with more and more pilots appearing in the game in general, this game mode you have created has become more relevant (see Dazzellerr above). Generally I think, interest in this game is directly related to your own interest in it Chris. If you are enthusiastic, other people become so too. You are central, but the rest of us all need to do our bit to get others involved.

 

Edit: yes Booze. The idea is you get one heli per round. It could work ok with less pilots I suppose, but having four helis flying in a loose formation towards a big dogfight seems really beautiful to me. Maybe we could use GTs as ramming pilots to make up the numbers.

i think (being a noob at this but read what you said) that pilots that die should only get to be in the little heli until all pilots have died once. then they get to regroup and get the A.H.

i am excited to play this mode. i assume this is in a TDM hence the FF off?

also, perhaps some training from other good pilots to teach others how to circle properly so there are people that can/will do both ground and air missions.

Between my involvement in other portions of this forum, RL issues that involve major changes at both work and home, the holidays (ba-humbug...its all a scam), and on and on...I just havent had the time OR the inclination to spend any time on this Event like I should.

 

I know the interest is there, I just have to get it going...IF that is what I want.

Chris: you´re as good an organiser as there is on these forums. Didn't you win the award for best event? At least you can be bothered most of the time. I should have organised that Bagdad gas station game, but I couldn't be arsed. I might have mentioned this invasion game idea months ago, but I couldn't be arsed. I had a nice idea for the chase on water, but I couldn't be arsed mentioning it. Someone should organise a dogfighting league, but I couldn't be arsed with that either - too much responsibility. I say you're a good organiser. The award says you're a good organiser. Relative to the rest of us, you're a damn good organiser. So shut up and stop whining.

 

So you think we might have some invasion games with the AG war crew against some gangs? Sounds great as long as people understand the way it should be played. It needs a few rules, but the main thing to avoid is one long helicopter dogfight, because that is the only thing that will happen if the rules aren't there to prevent it. Thinking about it, the rules could be few and quite straight forward. I'll post about it later this week, if I could be arsed that is.

I think it's very understandable. Like I said, you've been doing this a very long time. You were bound to get bored of it SOME time If it doesn't give you joy/relief/distraction anymore, then don't. Do it as long as it's still fun and if it isn't fun anymore, maybe it's time to pass the ropes? Maybe you could ask if someone wants to take over from you? Fresh, enthusiastic meat? Or rather one of the experienced old-timers?

 

It'd be a HELL of a waste to let the PS3 branch die with your leaving
