There is also a glitch to get under the map in northern (north-western I think) Algonquin where you can fly a helicopter through the busses to get under the map. It's kind of difficult to get though. Did anybody try that yet in TBOGT? Anyways, I'm a pro at glitching under the map at the airport by the containers in GTA IV.

 

I wonder if I may ever be able to get the "Grenade Kill" as I once almost blew up dov's helicopter in a DM when he was flying by. I was aiming at GTAKing though. I knew I should of aimed a bit more to the right.

 

@johnwontscore: Yeah, I'll just shoot at the helicopter though, not really at you. I can try both if needed. Even though I had GTA IV since release, I'm no expert like some of the people here.

Booze I saw your video on the tbogt air/ground battle.  Looks awesome but with the rockets from the buzzard I dont see the ground team having any sort of a chance.

It's a shame we can't test this out in a real TDM, 'cause I think the GT's would have a chance. Only in Algonquin though, those teleports will be key.

I think neither of those glitches were ever possible on Xbox, only on PS3.

 

 

How about the "fly through the arm of the statue in Algonquin" glitch?

What's that glitch? Is that one of the glitches that are only possible on PS3 (like the fuel tank at the airport and the school bus in Northern Algonquin)?

 

 

Booze: has Chris finalised the pilot medal list?  I thought it was still under review.

I'm not sure, they were being talked about, but I don't think we finalized them yet. As of now, they are:

 

Sky Ghost (P): Go five consecutive rounds without a death (may take multiple matches to achieve)

On Xbox, we play 30 minute rounds. With sniper and assault rifle fire coming at you from unknown directions it would be quite impossible to go 25 minutes without getting on fire. Unless you're being REALLY careful, but you'll be lucky if you get 1 kill that way and it would be very boring for the ground troops.

 

Sky Dominator (P): Get 40 kills in a single round

The best pilots on Xbox (among them Tonksi) haven't even gotten this many kills and that was without the no-spawn killing and no healthpack rules, in pilot-friendly environments.

 

Mechanic's Special (P): Get through five consecutive rounds in a single Heli (may take multiple matches to achieve)

See above. With pilots going for this medal, matches would get REALLY boring.

 

Sky Dominator and Air Taxi are fine as they are I think. We could bring the amounts down from 100 kills and 30 pick-ups, but it wouldn't make getting the medals easier, you'll just get them quicker.

 

Here are my suggestions for the Pilot medals:

 

Sky Ghost (P): Go five consecutive rounds without a death (may take multiple matches to achieve)

Scratch this one. This would only be doable if you'd jump out of your heli into water or something, which is not in the spirit of the no healthpack rule and unfair to the GT's.

 

Sky Dominator (P): Get 40 kills in a single round

Bring this down to 20. I know Lin got like 60 kills in the first PS3 match, but there was no organization whatsoever back then and it was at the airport. And I don't think anyone here is as good as Lin anyway.. Tonksi's high score is something like 30, in Bohan, with little GT organization as well.

I think new medals were already proposed, like where pilots have to go for different targets and what not. Those are doable. I have another suggestion:

I'm not sure yet about the amount of GT's... 3? 4? 5?

Dorian: I just want to fly around and get shot down by a hungry auto-aim M4 with turbo in various ways to simulate some instances where I’ve met AA shooters that were maybe too good. So we’ll use AA, assault rifles, airport - aiming will be easy. I’d like you to kill me as much as you can and I’d like to shoot back at you to simulate things as closely as possible. Hope that sounds ok.

 

Booze: everything you said about medals sounded very sensible to me. I particularly agree that some of the medals would encourage bad practises if anyone went for them. My main thought on medals is that they should be pitched at all levels of pilots: there should be some really hard ones, some easy ones, and a few in between. I think the success of kamikaze attacks depends so much on luck that I can’t suggest a number for that medal.

Now about the Annihilator durability thing. I was wrong. The Annihilator can take 34 M4 rounds to the gas tank before starting on fire. In the nose, the wing things that have the miniguns (don't know if the miniguns count as part of it), and probably the bottom of the Annihilator's main body (I'm assuming) it can take 67-69 M4 rounds before starting on fire.

 

With the sniper, it's 14 rounds to the gas tank and 28 rounds to the nose, wings, and probably the bottom of the body.

 

Shooting the tail and the part back of the passenger hold (where the doors are slid back) is pretty much useless.

Wouldn't have mattered, though tape69 was holding his own, which would have been helped along by an Air Taxi. Kudos to deejay for the attempt at piloting!

 

I met some random in FM, seemed knowledgeable about the game, I'll see if he's open to this sort of thing.

 

We tried a new spot, north of the navy yard in Dukes/Broker. Pretty decent area all things considered, enough space for the pilots, enough cover for the GT's. I was randomly going to try Charge Island but alas twas not meant to be.

I was frustrated a bit yesterday because I’d got up from my siesta early, had coffee, warmed up properly and was nice and ready for the game, which no longer existed again and again. I kept practising because I thought you guys might start another game I could get into so I was shooting nicely in the end. Later in the evening, I took it out on people in some airport freemodes, destroying everything and everyone in a nice, relaxed style.

thanks for the tip guys. I became friends with the guy and turns out yes he has a Frag FX controller (the newer version he said) I added him and started a private free mode game at the airport. Turns out the M4 and SMG range increases about 4 feet longer and becomes extremely accurate when holding the shoot button down emptying the entire clip in about quarter of the time in normal mode. I was shooting the chopper from a spot he picked and my bullets were not hitting the chopper, he started shooting from the same spot and set the chopper on fire within 6 or 7 seconds with the M4 fully on fire. Standing next to him you cant tell his M4 is shooting faster it sounds normal but what you can see is his reload time is alot sooner than mine was when we were shooting at the same time something no one ever notices. Only works with M4 AK and both SMG versions. My dumbass didnt even think about recording it until he asked, "Your not recording this are you?" by then he had to leave and yes If i get another chance I will record I could care less about having him as a friend knowing the bastard cheats but I got my answer YES turbo controllers can be used and Im sure theres tons more people that use them!

arsonizt, I've already accepted that some people seem to have inherent advantages. I've played literally thousands of games of GTA, I'm a reasonably intelligent guy, and I can discern the difference between lag and *something else*. Mind you, some of the people we play with are just fantastic shooters, no bones about it, it's more the "how the f*ck could they POSSIBLY have done that" moments that don't happen once or twice with a certain player but over and over again.

 

Back on topic, I guess I'll continue trolling random FM's looking for random pilots. Clans suck. I just hate them and refuse to deal with them and expect them to follow the rules. Our game mode, our rules, pretty much.

I liked your Prison kamakaze in particular... I knew I had little time to react so I tried to.. em.. run towards/ just under your whirlybird (but your blade made short work of that instinctual idea).

 

Good games yesterday, by that prison round I was definitely burned out.
