Well, the wed. match was pretty fun, although I was being distracted by ppl in my house every 2 minutes.

 

Managed to get two more legit kills; 1 RPG and 1 M4.

 

And was fun playing with mostly fairly new ppl. These guys took it seriously (not TOO much tho) and we had a good few matches!

 

I believe that the Pilots won all of them tho...

 

And could have had like 3 or 4 more ppl, but Uncharted 2 came out and ...ITS AWESOME!!!!! ([email protected]).

 

I wouldn't really know...only played the demo and can't afford any new games right now.

Ok. I set up a new album for A/G SIG components so folks could put together their own SIGs now. It currently only has the new stuff I created for it...I will add the old stuff as soon as I can.

The following are there as well, but wanted to feature these cuz the Pilots really don't have much to work with when it comes to SIGs/Medals.

Owl: both me and Lellep were trying to spot and kill you the other day. I don´t think I spotted you even once in the games I was in. Good play.

Chris: nice graphics, but putting “elite” and “best” into the graphics is a bit problematic for me, as I know who the elite pilots are in this game and I´m not one of them, so I wouldn´t use those myself. Really, really nice work though.

I´m more into trying to fly and shoot as prettily as I can rather than looking at numbers of kills (that way I can get something out of flying in the grinder for example) so the idea of counting up kills to get a medal doesn´t appeal to me. The best reward in this game for me is when I get a bit of positive feedback on my play rather than just hate mail. I appreciate the effort you´re putting into this, but I can´t see an easy way to give out medals for numbers of kills and there to be any meaning in it since locations, tactics and levels of ground fire make the real value of kills vary massively from game to game. You could have a series of medals for hard locations like the Grinder and another for soft ones like Bohan and the airport, but I think it would involve creating 10 or so medals for it to work, which is a bit complicated right? You´d need a lot of medals so every level of pilot would have something to try for. I could suggest a list if you liked, but, be warned, it would be long.

Suicide diving is another story as I think that´s something that doesn´t vary too much in difficulty from location to location. You could have a medal for 5 sucide dives, another for 10, etc. over a series of matches.

A good medal from my point of view would be something awarded for making a GT say wtf over the microphone, or have Jude swear at you, or if other pilots thought you did well. Peer approval basically.

the matches we did on wed. were fun but would have been better if we had more people. john, i think you're one of the really good pilots we have on PSN. not many people are that good in city you know.. what's with the new spot in algony? pisses me off :s i killed The_Owl for the first time on wed. he's hard to kill. sorry chris i couldn't pm you about the pilot medals, my computer is still effed up but i'm using my dad's computer now.. i think for pilot medals, there should be one where a pilot gets 10 kills in a single round (not common in hard places like algony) or something like, getting 2x more kills than deaths (ex. 8 kills 4 deaths). also chris, could you please put my name in the pilots list now? lol.

 

i'll try to make it tomorrow, its hard to wake up that early (11:00 am) on weekends..

 

i'm going to start playing GTA again on halloween (assuming it won't be boring) so i should get a bit better at killing GTs in A/G wars, i've lost my aim since i quit

I've had my fair share of sniper, assault rifle and rocket kills. I couldn't care less about assault rifle or rocket kills though. Would anybody have any objections to me sticking the sniper patch in my sig? There's a patch that I'd wear with pride

I realized I've gotten more kills with the RPG, I just like the M4 the most pretty much.

 

Now I may need to go back and work on the Pilot Taxi medal. I'm trying to only count true extractions whereby you pick somebody up when they are close to danger, not somebody spawned half the map away and you give them a ride out of convenience.

Dhawal: true, there are not many urban pilots out there. You don´t warm up or practise so not surprising your aim is suffering. We all know how good you are anyway, so you´ve got the freedom to relax and enjoy the game without having to prove anything to anyone, which is fun.

 

Chris: I didn´t write very clearly or well in my last post about the medals and I think I came across as a bit negative. What I meant to get across is that I´m not interested in medals, but I want to try and help with suggestions about them. A lot of people here like medals and they may encourage more pilots into the game. We do need to cover a spectrum of ability so that everyone has an achievable goal though. Tried to use the nice new pilot avatar you made but it wouldn´t let me, wrong file extension or something. I´ll try again later.

I was not able to be there due to a birthday party, my kids have way too many friends...On a side note I came across pwnyerbutt or whatever that guys name is on freemode last night. He quit once he saw what I was doing...blowing up all the choppers...dont even give them a chance. There are way more elite pilots on ps3 than on xbox for a reason.

we did so bad in the first two matches, john and tape were the only ones getting kills. charger kept flying into me in the alderney match for some reason lol (4 times), but i got him back (lit up his chopper) i dont know why but my connection is acting weird, the speed is the same as before but people say i keep lagging in A/G matches. i got wired connection but the wire is connected to the router. i'll try using wireless next time, maybe it'll be better lol.

My connection isn't the best, but tweaked it some and now other games/matches are good....cept for A/G.

 

Was good fun, tho...despite lag. Thought I had a legit Kill (RPG to a Pilot forehead) but Tony got credit for it...oh well.

 

And the I vs C / TDM was fun, if not exactly 'by the rules'...but I think we went in w/settings for A/G, which has traffic at low, so there were literally no cars spawning. So, of course, stev ended up with like 43,000 points...lmao

 

Had fun!

 

EDIT: Oh yea...the patches are for anyone that wants one....they are not medals...SO its ok, john, that they say 'Best' in them...and I agree w/others. You are definately an Elite Pilot...and in some ways better than OTHER Pilots in that you don't circle predicably like most.

 

I will be making one for each weapon as well...

Man, oh, man. The Air/Ground trial matches were good tonight! I agree with Kinko, we should add the prison to the elite games. I think it should become one of the main ground choices. We're practically untouchable in the prison .

 

The airport match was awesome as always. It's just a shame I got killed in the last two minutes though 'cause if I hadn't then that would've been the first ever A/G match I'd of gone without getting killed while getting kills myself.

 

Speaking of which, the kills I got on LeRay in the airport round were just amazing. Perfectly placed sniper shots. No spraying, no nothing. I just stalked my prey through the scope of my rifle and BOOM! If I wasn't deserving of the sniper patch before, I sure am now. Toot toot!

 

Can't wait 'til the elite games tomorrow!! I'm becoming a right sneaky panda bear. I can go almost an entire match without being killed now. Something that all of the people who I play online with know very well was something I simply could not do before! I've finally learned to stay in cover and scurry away like a Rat when I need health and my aim is definitely improving. Seriously, those sniper shots were P-E-R-F-E-C-T!!

Prison is almost as hard as Algonquin, those towers are just placed perfectly for you guys, not to mention the adjacent building. It's impossible to circle without passing GT's shooting you from underneath with rockets 'n sh*t... Have to circle so carefully (far away and dodging stuff) that it's hard to get a good aim. On top of that you're on fire in mere seconds (I was the only target for you guys to shoot at and I think pretty much all of you had a good shot on me most of the time).

 

I'm gonna have to adapt my tactics for that one

I must say again - LAGGY PILOTS ARE THE WORST!

 

I know at least 3 or 4 of us yesterday had direct hits with the RPG or direct, shot in the face, dead pilot moments only to have the chopper appear 20 feet from where it was. Beyond frustrating.

 

That's all I remember from the Colony Island match. Well that and realizing too late how to get my grenade kill...

 

The Air Taxi concept seemed a bit off for whatever reason. In Alderny, not for nothing, but people just started taking shots at the Air Taxi's regardless of if we were close, parked on a roof, landing, watching.

 

Kind of thought people shouldn't be shooting at us when we weren't part of the action or attempting to extract somebody. Be nice if people remembered this fact?

 

Didn't matter though, as the GT's got utterly DESTROYED in Alderny.

 

Karma. Don't shoot at my f*cking Maverick when I'm just hovering and you won't get destroyed like that. That was maybe the worst loss I've seen for the GT's in quite some time.

 

 

(of course, no offense to Chris and deejay who I called many horrible things for FAIRLY shooting at me when I landed for extraction)

TRAIL MATCH IN TEN MINUTES!!!

 

Well, the first round was pretty fun...lots of wait time with so few ppl, tho... xX_JD_Xx was supposed to be taxiing, but not sure he picked anyone up...

 

Second match was hilarious and turned out to be VERY fun...uh...for the three players who stayed...lol

 

2 GTs (me and Kaiser) vs 1 Pilot (arsonist)

 

arson won by 1 kill, but kaiser got an amazing sniper kill and I got the best RPG kill to date!

 

There was only like 1:30 left in the match and arson was trying to get his heli back before time was over and hit the bridge (colony Island) and broke off his tail. He spent a few seconds righting (what was left of) his heli and actually started going for a kill!

 

I had 3 RPGs left and let off two of them right away, missing. But as arson went (what I thought was) out of range, I led him WAY out front and let my last rocket go...

 

Waiting....waiting...watching the trail...its gonna be close...and the rocket went off at end of its range, right next to arson! BOOM! Gottim!!!

 

Thanks, arson, for sticking around! Was very fun!

 

@john: I got your message right before above confrontation...wasn't wiorth inviting you in for 2 or 3 minutes...

Ok, ok enough, classify me as you wish. You guys obviously don´t subscribe to idioms like “pride before a fall”, “tempting fate”, “biting off more than you can chew”, etc. but whatever.

 

That first match yesterday was the most messed up match I´ve been involved in thanks to lag effects. At the start, Jude was giving me a lift to the western helicopter pad, but the car was behaving really strangely. Eventually it rolled – not Jude´s fault –on a harmless corner thanks to some weirdly spawning cars by the side of the road. We split up and I get another car. I get to the heli pad and someone´s taken the heli, but he lands to pick me up. So I try to get in his heli, had to be quick cause the rotors were touching a fence, but it wouldn´t let me enter. Rotors fall off. Jude tells me it was me causing the lag cause now his car is ok without me. So I drive off thinking better to leave the pilot behind cause I might cause him more trouble with my lag. Finally got a heli and armour after five and a half minutes. Waited above the grinder for an opening and dropped in to find horrible, slow-motion lag and Chris impossible to fix my guns on despite him being in an exposed position. I take an RPG hit and go down. Back at helitours the helis vanish, so I waste time driving to the western pad. The GTs have now mostly moved to the bridge and cable car station. No lag there, but a tricky place to attack. I go down again and someone extracts me under the noses of the GTs. Nice one. Back at helitours, the helis disappear, and reappear. I get a heli, but I´ve lost all my armour and jumping out of the falling heli has reduced my life to about a quarter. So I decide to repair before attacking again. I land on the green box. It´s still there. I bounce the heli on the box. It´s still there. Bounce, bounce, bounce. No repair and the new heli is damaged before I even start, but sod it. I go back to the fight, try to shoot Charger, lose my rotors on the bridge, fall, dead. -$100. Great. LAG wars. That was a weird game. I spent most of my time driving around trying to get a heli. I tried to play in the second match, but gave up after repeated disconnections.

 

Dhawal: I think that tail cutting problem might just be something to do with lag making one heli circle slower than the other. I´m going to try letting the other guy lead the circle next time.
