Sorry guys, I'm going to have to drop out of this event. I probably won't be able to get into another game with Joe and I feel I owe him after he dropped out of the racing league. That one match was fun though

@ SuperJude - yea that airport strategy worked out really well I noticed we were positioned in a triangle defense. I realized its a great opportunity to send an RPG dead smack into the side of a chopper while its circling slow towards you while its shooting the target in front of them. PERFECT!

Exactly, the 3 man cell is absolutely the way to go. I likened this stuff to a "battle of attrition" like the US and Vietnam fought and in fact the 3 man cell was a key mechanism in the North Vietnamese/Viet Cong fighting tactics, amongst other historical references where a smaller force fights a larger one with small cells.

 

Originally I'd had the idea of using 3 man teams but it's too much to coordinate on a regular basis, especially since a lot of us like to freelance, have our own peculiarities of how we battle and where we like to position ourselves.

 

I liked the fact that one of the three of us constantly had an angle to at least do damage, if not kill the pilot outright. All about the angles!!!

 

 

Besides, I still and kind of lulz @ a 3 vs 3 TDM at the Airport which the GT's won.

 

I also remember the days when people were saying the only way to beat a pilot is with AA on.

lol I'm anxious to try this again & try the same strategy in a different part of the city and see how effective it is. I havent really been flying. Honestly Im bored with it! Every FM game Im in theres always some a**hole wanabe pilot & the second I jump in a chopper and murder his ass they invite 4 or 5 clan pilots. Miss the days when 1 vs 1 was honored. So from now on Im on GT side unless there aren't enough Pilots then ill switch.

Of course, you're welcome, Sideshow. Don't worry too much about performance (yet). On the Xbox side, we're all still learning the ropes. Once we have players who are clearly more advanced and want to play "for real", we'll split the matches like on the PS3 side. We will have one f*ck around match and one "elite" match.

I was contemplating stepping down from GT captain cos all the screaming kids !!

 

If possible I'd like to appoint 2 further players as 2nd in command to help out when I can't make matches and for some extra support when I am there.

 

I have some possible candidates if this can happen

Yeah, I realize it must not have been pretty on the ground. At least it didn't LOOK pretty from the air... You had screaming kids and you had older players who loved to make the kids scream

 

From my rounds on the ground it was easy to tell that it's quite impossible to lead the GT's as they are now. Appointing some people to help you with it is a good idea. We will also make sure that only people who know how to LISTEN will make it to the Elite matches. This should make your job easier

 

As for the Trial matches... They don't need leading Gives the pilots a chance to do what they do best: mowing down everything in sight

Also, the Trial matches will have rookie pilots, so they won't be as hardcore anyway.

Anyway, re:my idea about finding random pilots and griefing them, it sure would help if more people were online!

 

There is no lack of assholes who fly choppers. Matter of fact there are now more than ever. Unfortunately I only see 2 or 3 people on at these times.

 

Maybe better luck with the Wednesday event?

Yea SJ. Sorry for not making it yesterday, but after only the 'Core Four' showed for the Elite Match, I was like "f*ck it! I'm goin to the beach!" Sunday is my only day off anymore, and I gotta get some sun once in a while...lol

 

I am hoping the Wednesday Match goes better. Its also Summer, so am not mad about it or anything. sh*t happens.

 

And the idea of 7 or 8 of our Elite GTs trolling FMs for griefing Pilots sounds like extreme fun to me! Can't wait for the reaction of the first Pilot we target. Imagine his surprise when he sees a group of 8 players all huddled together...he flies over to investigate and is met by 4 RPGs, 2 M4s and 2 snipers!!!

 

I also think it is by far the best way to recruit new Pilots to these matches!

 

Anyway, the Wednesday Match is still on.

 

And it is good to see all the enthusiastic banter from the 360 Branch! Glad things are working out!

(GT pick) Star Junction/Algonquin: Had to mute a bunch of chatty youngsters just to hear our Cap’n. Things went pretty nicely after that. Also, if I had to hear about how sweet buses were one more time I may have had to run at the pilots in hopes of them putting me down ... It was tons of fun regardless.

 

(Pilots Pick) Bohan: Good times. I got an RPG kill on someone just above the train platform (a couple pilots looked a tad aggravated & went for some vengeance). Made my way to the warehouse for some sniper support & then was pummeled by that Sky Destroyer of flesh(!): Skimask.

 

Air V Sea match: Piloted Nitty while he managed to pick off a couple unfortunate pirates (to Davey Jones’ locker with ya!). Had a load of fun with that. I didn’t realize you made it around the island. Good work, gents!

 

Airport Match: Myself, Kinko, and company had a fireworks display going on over the parking lot. Nice defensive moves, pilots! I actually took down someone (LeRay maybe?) with an SMG. I didn’t even know that could happen.

 

Good Stuff!

FYI: I really don’t mind playing GT or Pilot (AvG or AvS). I’ll probably default to GT & Sea. If you need me on either side, just let me know. In a rare case I’d rather not, I’ll let you know .

Since I can't keep my PS3 from overheating (even at 10:30 at night) I'm hanging up my rifle and Sleeping till Autumn.

How damn hot does it get over there! It stays in the mid to upper 90s here in Florida, and I went two months with no AC (when it broke) and never had any probs with my PS3.

 

I thought it just rained a lot in the UK...didn't know it got super hot.

 

And you all know there are (fairly cheap) fans that can be attached to the machine, don't you?

I am going to be there to host the Elite Match this coming Saturday. If it happens that only a few of us show again, I will NOT be there for the Trial Match and will probably put the weekend matches on hold for a month or so, and concentrate on the wednesday night matches.

 

Please don't read anything into this. I am certainly not mad, but becuase of the time we play on weekends, it kinda messes up the whole day to be there for them. It is frustrating to not make any plans so I can be at the Matches and then have only 5 or 6 ppl show, which is not enough ppl for a proper match.

 

We will see what happens after this weekend. I think we may just have to ride out the "Summer Fever".

Also, thanks for organizing the vote at the end. I hadn't thought about people being AFK or not caring which round we were gonna play next

 

I also had fun on the ground, that last round. Don't think it was very fun for our rookie pilots though... I've said it before and I'll say it again: Air/Ground it NOT a good training ground! You're better of going to a regular deathmatch or freemode even, if you're still learning the ropes.
