Translation - I put an extra effort in to make sure the card I recommended you was NOT a bad card for the money (the GT240), and that I never lied to you about how poorly your GT220 is - meaning, I simply told you the TRUTH about your GT220, since I have dealt with these cards in my day-to-day living, and didn't want you thinking it was a GOOD card because of nVidia's poor renaming of their videocards.

I'm not arrogant, and never have been. I've always let others decide, on whether they like or dislike what I do, and it doesn't bother me if people like it/dislike it/use it/don't use it. What don't like are little snide comments that are appearing lately, and those who post them know what they are posting, and this is NOT aimed at you.

I'm sure I'm not the only 1 thinking this but it seems that this project is getting off course.

 

Whats "Off Course" ? And is there a "On course" ? Does this project have "Rules" that we all suddenly have to follow ?

 

 

All the pictures are great but wasn't all this to make the game look real ????

 

What doesn't look real ? Be specific, don't just post a blanket opinion without describing what you think isn't real. Real, is impossible with this engine, ENB, effect, etc... it is NOT possible, period. But, realism, is possible, or close, in a sort of Arty way. HDR, High Dynamic Range Lighting is real, it's used in professional Photography, and brings a sort of "Realism" to GTA through the shaders., but in a different way to the norm. Note, "Different", doesn't mean it's WRONG, it's DIFFERENT. It also doesn't mean it's BETTER, or SUPERIOR, it's just simply DIFFERENT.

There are no rules to this, people can play in black & white if they want,or even in a Cinematic 2.35.1 aspect to give it that extra feel, because there are no rules.

 

 

Now it's all about changing the appearance but not to make it look real....

 

You see, this is why I get angry. You are assuming that there is a specific appearance that we must all adhere to, and I'm afraid you are wrong, there isn't. Changing appearance through shaders, skins, mods, colours, is what drives us all to whatever goal we may eventually get to.

There are some skins for Niko that make him look...well...wrong..in a way, but it's not wrong, it's a different look that we are free to choose to use.

 

 

What happened to the realism????

 

Now thats why I got a bit defensive, because you've basically said that everything I've posted doesn't contain any sort of "Realism" at all, and that kind of hurts because I've spent 8-months to get to the stage that I'm at, what with shaders, colours, timecyc editing and understanding, ini editiing, etc..

 

Now, I thought you were Canadian, but you sound like you are actually more French than Canadian, so perhaps there is a slight language barrier here, so if there is then I apologise if I came across a bit too strong.

and it was a miss understanding as I through my ignorance actually thought that this was aimed at making the game look like real environments , That's how I found this forum by searching for things like gta 4 realism or gta 4 real because thats what i was looking for in the game, thats my ignorance ...

 

And I never said that we can't go in different direction with all the adjusting and all or that it wasnt permited.

It all looks good.

 

In my mind this place was about realism....

Maybe it is better for everybody to take a break from all this ENB customization... look at what it has done.

 

DKT70 and wonderblunt, i love your guys work equally since I know both of you contribute to something and others too. I just think it is better to take a few days off or even a week and just relax. Your work has very much made you guys tired.

 

This is no way to take as an offensive statement. It is just that when you overdo something, you may start to damage yourself in terms of emotional matter as well.

Ok, I don't know about you people but to me it feels like there have been a lot of new pages to this thread lately, filled with useless comments and a lot of them posted by wonderblunt.

 

Anyway I'm eagerly awaiting any new top-quality releases from DKT70, which hopefully will be made available.

 

Wow, just incredible. Simply walking around the city is an immense amount of fun, there is just so much richness and detail. It really is a living breathing city, you just have to be on foot to see it. I am absolutely stunned, it is like that first mission from a game Mafia, where you run through some back alleys to get away from your followers, there are a lot of scripted events and detail in that one mission, a great memory, I always wished and dreamed of a time when it would be possible to fully have that experience - and GTA IV is it.

Ok, back to the slog of editing. ALL weather patterns finished for 9pm to 6am, nightime looking rather nicer than I earlier had it.

 

 

All going well and I'll release everything at the weekend, saturday most likely. So those wanting to try it are more than welcome, just remembering that this WILL look different.

New ISP is very fast now, unlike last ISP, so I may try a 720p video, hoping Youtube don't screw up the quality.

 

Oh, and n1k, nice shots, nice and bright look to everything.

@DKT70 Night shots are awesome dude. but for me I think the lights are too bright...well thats in my opinion but the environment and the cars looks nice.

and if you want a good 720p video on youtube. Save the video on the highest setting as possible and dont use any external vid. uploader to YT just do a normal one and it will upload it in max I hope. look at the last video i posted its on 720p. I have migrain 2day and i cant really see if theres quality reduction on the hermes video. anyways keep up the good job and cant wait for the HDR filter to be completed.

Cheers, they are a bit bright, but I looked at many night time pics of NYC and they too showed very bright lights, dark shadows, but also the ability to still see around you, and that was the most tricky part, still being able to see yet retain that dark look.

As for 720p Youtube, I could use the game's own editor and output directly from there and you have no speed issues, thing is the editor doesn't work well with the effect file, so when you go into the editor and edit a video all the light changes to super bright.

The shadows are nicer because of the HDR lighting, using higher contrast, and lower gamma. The flickering comes from the stipple effect, something thats proving hard to fix.

DUDE thanks a ton, btw, DKT70, I totally understand where you're coming from.

 

Keep doing this stuff though mang, people like me appreciate the hard work you and others put in to modding GTA IV.

 

Makes my experiences much more fun, plus I like to tweak stuff as well, so you never know.

 

I'm working on a full out mod of GTA IV's cars, and I'm most of the way done. The one thing I'm looking for is a good graphics mod which lead me to this forum thread.

 

You all are doing great, so keep tweakin, grindin on these things, they will pay off and people that don't like it can make their own crap or stfu!!!
