Right, Answer me this one please, why have two topics when you're all just going to post your screenshots in here? The idea is that this topic is to seek help on the mod, and so that those posts that seek help are not hidden by people showing the same damn settings off every single time.

 

This has been a major problem I agree. However, employing a unified solution that removes the usage of a core development tool, such as a screen or two - hinders further development "hype." The user participation in this thread trends on the development and furthering of the ENB's graphical caliber and without that user participation in the thread the mod development goes elsewhere, ceases or becomes decentralized. This thread is a lightning rod for everything ENB and I believe, is causing exponential growth to the mods caliber. It may even garner GTAForums some notoriety in the real world press. 1100 Pages? That's classy.

 

As can be seen already, the ENB Photo Thread is well known yet the user participation is in this thread - because of the peer traffic i.e." I'll post in the 1000 Pg thread because I know ABC_Dev_Tweaker goes there everyday, whereas he only visits the other thread once every two or three days." I personally, would only come here once every day or two to provide help ONLY. Whereas I come everyday, many times 10-15 times a day to blend help, updates, questions and feedback to other users in one post.

 

This may be a little premature but I can forsee many "Yeah try updating your graphics card drivers and re-try. By the way, have you seen my post in http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?act=ST&...entry1060452425 yet?" I released this new ENB set here: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=440932&st=20 and make sure you come back to this thread for support on installation problems." The whole issue is blended.

 

Also, Dpeasant's recommendation [if you so desire to enforce the posting ban] of prohibiting asking questions in the other thread is probably the most logical when you consider you couldn't do vice versa here. So, at the end of the day you will have two or three threads for proper representation of the ENB topic in completeness:

If you want to show any progress off, use the screenshots topic, then either link to it back here, but don't post the images.

I think the first part is a great idea.

 

This would be a non-issue if one simple rule were ENFORCED: ONE Screenshot ONLY per day in this thread from each forum member. Use thumbnails or warning/ban. Rules should be edited into Boris' 1st Post at the beginning of the thread for clarity I think.

Every operating system installation is kind of unique. You should find ATi Tray Tools (whatever is compatible with 7-64Bit) and change "Flip Queue" Size to 2 (I think that's how ATi words it. It's the equivelent to Pre-Rendered frames on Nvidia platforms. Also, Win7 services destroy CPU performance when gaming IMHO. I tried to use it in my computer three times and even with "Tweaking for Gaming" i.e.: disabling unecessary services / eye candy etc. it was still brutally slow in comparison to XP. But I'm a bit of a puritan so I love XP for GTA IV. Did you update your .Net installation / Microsoft C++ Redistributable? Are you sure the CCC or standard ATi driver isn't forcing AA? What size L2 cache does your CPU have? Installed programs? Win7 + active Antivirus = poor performance.

i think your problem is caused by something in the shader and enbeffect.fx

i tryed enb again bones settings and it looked ok but made my i7 960 gtx 580 6 gb 2000 mhz ram lagg i never imagined gta 4 dx9 would lagg on such a pc and it didn't even look that nice so i guess enb is not for me it looked very bloaty with alot around

Start by turning off bloom in the ini.

 

[EFFECT]

EnableBloom=false

 

If that works then turn bloom back on, "EnableBloom=true", now goto the bloom ini settings and lower Radius 1 until it disappears, then increase to suit tastes.

Play around with these until you reach your desired effect.

Try altering the settings in enbseries.ini in the section shown below.

 

The settings shown are the values in mine.

I solved this issue this way:

EmissiveMuliplier=4.5

LightIntensity=3.5

 

changed to...

LightIntensity=1.0

 

But there might be other ways to do it.

Try:

 

• Different ENB set from one of the forum members. If you're having a sh*t of a time honestly, try Black_D's Sets. You can find them in my sig. If I can run it decently on my old computer, so you can guys.

• Replace d3d9.dll with another d3d9.dll from another release i.e.: if you're on 0.78 try 0.79 SORA d3d9.dll or 0.81 SORA d3d.dll > Check Results

• Overclock your CPU if you're not at at least 3.0Ghz. IV is CPU dependant, not as much on the GPU.

• Check Nvidia Control Panel for forced D3D options. These settings work pretty well for me - make sure you don't run the game with antialiasing if you're gonna run settings like this. (below thumb)

 

One setting can turn a set from slick-as-snot fast to slow-as-a-sloth slow. Especially if that tweak uses a feature that your computer is not so good at.

HDR is achieved through the enbeffect.fx file + a good enbseries.ini

You said you can run 2xAA on DP's settings, perhaps check the AntialisingQuality= setting and turn it back to 2 to see if it helps your FPS.

It really would be a good idea to limit your pic posting to one screen for now. I believe, asking questions of Andrew "in the meantime" shouldn't negate his instructions to stop posting screenies. Just IMHO ("in my humble opinion" for those not so good at english + internet acronyms).

My experience with ENB is that, and forgive me here for not having the words to describe it correctly: "If the settings are fighting each other" ENB runs like crap and will bring any PC to it's knees for nearly zero graphical improvements. I find when brightness is extreme, so is performance loss. So, tweak for lower-light scenarios using ENB and adjust with your desktop color settings/monitor contrast/brightness.

Just go to the ENB Pictures thread. As myself and Dpeasant3 have been saying, the thread IS the pictures. DP's already posting there, Icelagace is posting there and I am sure for visual updates the other devs will post there or the decision from Andrew will at least have to be amended or recinded in order for this thread not to die.

 

I don't give a sh*t about this thread unless the REAL dev's are posting actual code - this happens RARELY. Even then, raw code requires HLSL or other skills / knowledge to integrate, so the code would be from dev to dev for the most part and most of the time not working snippet.

 

We needed a MOD to put the brakes on picture posting long strings of pictures to keep the "troubleshooting / help" portion of the thread alive not to remove the ability altogether. But that's their decision.

 

What about empowering an ENB Thread Dweller to mod the thread? To warn/edit posts? Someone who is here all the time so the other moderators don't have to visit constantly? There seem to be a plethora of alternative actions that can be taken here, I don't understand why some of them are not being considered.

- important/interesting progress is shown

- something is released

- a member need help and underpin his issue with a pic

 

Picture posting here is against the rules and senseless if...

- the pictures are posted without comment and obviously just for fun (which could be also considered as spam in THIS thread! Not my personal opinion but someone could have such)
