[GTAIV|REL|BETA] ENBSeries graphic modification

I upgraded to a 5870 and the performance increase really isn't what I thought it would be (in this game), you need an i5 at least to get above 30fps.

Well that sucks! I was thinking about the 5850. I know both cards will rock most games very well, but GTAIV is one of my favs., so that does suck a bit.

I used have my chip at 3.0 and got it stable at 3.6. Was hoping that would be enough, then saw CPU usage on core 1 is still 90%+.

well im running gta on quad Q9400 oc'd to 3.2 / 4GB ram / GTX 260 in vista 64x

performance is fairly good, well the enb drops your framerate down a few frames , but its still ok in my case (30-35 , dunno exactly)

i dont know how can new city textures affect your performance, i personaly dont like em and dont use them, but i assume that they cant have a major contribution in decreasing your fps - theyre just textures after all.

imho the performance issue is not about the enb pretty much, it depends on your actual graphics settings, looking at your rig, you can run it fairly well when you tweak your graphic settings approprietely

Just textures? GTAIV crawls after 5 min. if I change textures from Med. to High. That's why I haven't bothered with BCT, though it's been on my HDD for six months! I looked at the files today, I see it should be easy to back up old files, try it and go back if needed/wanted. Guess I'll give it a go.

I have an i5 3.2 ghz 4gb ram and ati radeon 4570 512mb(sh*t graphic card IknowRight) its a laptop. if I can only change the graphic card. thats why im saving for a PC.

with ENB and Aa i got 10-8 fps but just enb and medium set IV I get 15 to 20.

what i meant was , there is imho no big difference in default textures, and the new ones... both would have the same impact on the framerate

First, thanks to Boris and all contributors to this thread, it's simply awesome!

I've read many of the pages in this thread, but not all. I apologize if I missed this info already.

@noelgamo, DKT70, wonderblunt, ko6a4ok, yug74, bukkit, Owenwilson1 and anybody else using mods like ENB, sharpen filter and better city textures...

What CPU and video card(s) are you running?

How's performance?

Does Better City Textures cause a hit in performance? Does it need 1gb video RAM?

I had recently gained some frames by moving nVidia's 196.21 driver. I added ENB after that, which was quite a hit on my fps, but it looks great!

Q6600 (@3.6) + 8800GTS512mb here. Running the game with Visual 1.5.2, ENB .77b and a couple other little mods @ 1600x900. Trying to figure out how far I can go with this setup and also what card to be looking at next.

Well I have

dell studio xps 9000

Intel® Core™ i7-920

6GB Tri-Channel DDR3

nVidia® GeForce® GT220 1Gb

Windows 64bit

To answer (Does Better City Textures cause a hit in performance?), I just installed it yesterday and for me I did notice reduced performance.

This is my system

Alienware Area-51 ALX

Intel® Core™ i7 960 (3.2GHz, 8MB Cache)

Dual 1GB GDDR5 ATI Radeon™ HD 5870 CrossfireX™

6GB DDR3 1600MHz (3x 2GB)

1.2TB RAID 0 (2x 640GB SATA-II, 7,200 RPM)

24X CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW)

with the latest ati driver fps has realy boosted apposed to using one card i use 2 cards on a crossfire.

i cant explaine it, it looks amazing, when gta first came out i had no problems even with the so called jaggies issue, i was playing on a real hi-res so jaggies were very light. but emb def made the icing on the cake. plus now the sharp filter by dkt70, my game is a work of art.

the funny thing is tho i use the sharpness filter but you can see it but not to much i guess my cards blend it in why keeping a realistic look.

To answer (Does Better City Textures cause a hit in performance?), i actauly got a performance boost for some weird reason but i aint gonna complain.

so overal i get about 90 fps in built up areas without AA on, but with it on about AA8 i get about 68 to 81 so not much loss there when i go out by the sea areas far from the city, thats another story. its smooth like a babys bottom. lol

I have nothing special, E7500 @ 4Ghz, Geforce GTX 260 216, 4Gb ram, Win 7 64-bit, average around 35-40 with ENB on, res 1440x900.

Trying some new lighting for the evening.

@ko6a4ok can you share your settings plz?

I'm not ko6, but I use his settings and files, which I got from here:

http://enbseries.3dn.ru/forum/33-263-1#4676

I've tried many different .inis and so far his has proven to be the most photo-realistic, when combined with Alternative Graphics Tweak ...

Here is a night shot ...

I don't know why it would do that. Do you have a d3d overrider running--via rivatuner or attitools? That is the only thing I've found that causes GTA IV to crash on start with my set up.

Has anyone else seen crashes with ko6's files?

After trying all the ways of tweaking the enb.ini of v0.77a/b to enable AA, I can always only see the big big big screen which shows the upper left corner part. I don't know how Boris encoded the dll file of v0.77a/b, but those previous versions of 0.76a/e works fine when AA is set to 2. Has Boris made great changes for AA in the dll???

For all Nvidia and ATI 58XX users, they can force super sampling to any dx9 game. For ATI 48XX and lower cards, enb is the only way to enable SSAA in GTA-IV.

ATI is really s*h*i*t*, SSAA was provided even for 7500 a long time ago , now they refuse to give it to ATI users without 58XX cards. I will never buy any ATI card any more!

Hope Boris can release v0.77c to get rid of all the problems.................................................

Thx for the sharpen filter, it makes the game look better! Obviously you gotta use it with caution, too much sharpening makes the edges unnatural. I once again tried but failed to set AA on my comp, when I get outta safehouse, everything except some building and minor textures are missing. Videocard is ati3850, game is 1.0.3 patched. I force AA and display size (1280*1024) and set AA to 2, but it doest work (tried forcenvidia, no change). Anyway, it's no biggie, AA would get me 15fps at most, I just wanna see how it looks.

Oh yeah, DKT70: your pictures look awesome. Could you make the raindrops look more visible? Also, buildings look a bit too dark in your rain pictrues. Anyway, keep up with the good work!

I'm sorry what? First you say you have two 5870's crossfired then you talk about using the latest nvidia driver? I can see why you overpaid for an alienware system.

Actually I have a 5870 and there is no way of enabling Supersamling in GTA IV but using ENB.

Anyway

Can somebody help me?

Im trying to put AA (hav ATI 4870).. But when i change ForceAA=false to true, thats what happens:

Almost all the textures bugs.. How to fix't?

You're runing our of VRAM. Try making a commandline with this:

-availablevidmem 2.0

Works..

Thank you! smile.gif

By the way..

1st, sorry about bad english...

Who here uses AA feature?

Here im trying to use on Athlon ii X4 620 @ 3.2 + L3.. But no noway :-(

the sharp filter looks fine when its bumped down to something like 0.4-0.5, but its a matter of taste my friend. i for instance think the same about your sky setup, it looks awfully uniform and the gradient is way too shallow,

no texture or variation what so ever, for some odd reason it reminds me of MS paint notify.gif no offence buddy

It's the same no matter what. I've even used other enbseries.ini's but it doesn't change.

Edit - fixed, apparently I had applied the Ultimate Graphics Tweak a while ago without realizing it tounge2.gif
