You're right! The other method is so that nobody would need to download anything.

 

On the topic of 0.82 and Nvidia Drivers: The original driver CD containing 259.22'scrash the same way. I'll update with versions of the driver I try, but honestly, I think its the installation itself. I think there may be a file mismatch or a file ommission in IV folder causing a crash. Just an assumption though.

 

On the subject of drivers, I keep an Acronis image with an install of just the Nforce drivers but no display drivers (vanilla IV installation - Stock/Retail Version) so when I go to reinstall, I usually restore the Acronis image, then install the drivers. ('58's and '99's).

 

So in summary (All WinXP eVGA GTS 450 1GB),

266.58's Crash (Previous WinXP Installation)

260.99's Crash (Previous WinXP Installation)

266.35's Crash

259.22'sCrash

263.06 Crash.

im using 260.89 but i think driver is not your issue after trying multiple drivers. (but my system is 7 x64)

 

try to re-install the game up to the patch you like and prefer to use., play a bit make sure its fine (just use the vanilla first and make the enb 82 work first)

then just put the d3d9.dll no others just that only., see if it will work.. (don't put any of the configurations yet like enb.ini, enbbloom etc.)

if it wont., try to put the 2 d3dx9.dll then try it.... if it work one by one add the settings. bloom ini fx clouds etc.. (to find whats causing the crash)-- if non put now the timecyc and visualsets

 

if still crashing.. just use whats compatible in there., 82 is still beta there maybe errors thats can't be solved until the next update is available or final is released.

Thank you, that is very useful information, I will do that. I wasn't sure what files were dependant on which but if it's mostly drag and drop modular type thing, then this method should work.

The environment is easy to mimic, I could copy his mod in a weekend, but those reflections are not stock, he uses ENB with everything off, skylighting off, original post processing on, bloom off, etc.. although he denies it, I was told this by some French dude on my Youtube channel. Personally I think his "mod" sucks ass, dreadful environment, roads that reflect like mirrors, dreadful skies, and he only ever shows one weather pattern.

 

And that Korean Mod, those aren't texture mods, just the original textures sharpened with Photoshop, and thats not creative, that is lazy. And the mod itself looks worse than many here, especially Dpeasant's which looks far better. And anyone charging for this needs to be knocked down a peg or two, this should always be free, something one does because they enjoy it, not to make money.

PacketOVerload_x64Bit , have you tried disconnecting from the net before trying to run GTAIV ?

I know this may sound silly, but a guy in my area kept getting crashes direct to the desktop, either as soon as the main menu came up, or as soon as he left a safe house. He uses 1.0.3.0., we tried patch 4 and 5 to no avail, then we tried the no-dvd securom exe without the net running and it works, 24/7 without a crash. Weird. I set up a Firewall rule for GTAIV, blocked it outgoing and incoming, and GTAIV + ENB runs a treat.
