I've been using 0.82 beta 7 for 2 weeks and sometimes I left the game running for hours... haven't had any problem, and it haven't killed my card too

do you have MSI afterburner monitoring On Screen Display or any other monitoring OSD program? try closing them before you loaded the game...

 

changing videocard driver may work as well as changing windows' directx

RECOVERED MY 9800GT !!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES!

yep i would recommend trying another driver... seems to be a few NV drivers that conflict 0.82 that i have heard about.... the latest driver (266.58) doesn't like it for more than 10sec

well... this WILL sound bad... (but have had many years experience) i waited till windows loaded.. fully graphically corrupt the whole way.. could barely make anything out..... then i unplugged the power to the card..... got the alarm..... plugged it straight back in...... full lock up..... hit reset...... been back since...... hilarious!

 

Now gotta go and set my best drivers and settings..... YEAH MAN!!!!!!

just gone back to 263.06 developer drivers....... other than that i found 258.?? drivers to be very stable...... but that was for my 9800GT.... so dunno for your particular card..... the latest (266.58) reckon they are about 5-10% better performing than all other 260 series drivers.... have a look and take a leap of faith i suppose...... @ Packet Overload..... having just tested the latest ones...... i would suggest not using them... (u already are using close to the latest) as i got lockup 2 seconds after load like you.... try anything under 266.??

 

I'm Using 263 Devs...... but not gr8 performers.. try the 260.?? ones.... they were good for me.. but were also the ones i was using when card got "Sick" so be careful

If the guy is so talented why isn´t he here around? This is most popular site. That´s a bit strange.

If he really want money for his settings that´s not OK if Boris don´t know. For me it is a copyright violation. ENB is not for commercial use without permission!

Thanks for your opinions on my IV install. Any other recommendations for a Nvidia driver that supports GTS 450 and is compatible (your experience) with 0.82?

try the drivers that it came with.. or 2 updates above that

if you have for example version2 driver that comes with the box... then try version4

 

i don't know if that would resolve that.. but lets just hope so..

i usually find 2-3 versions above the first driver the most stable ones.

 

or maybe the issue is in the VC's bios.. (don't try to update the bios if your not sure what your doing )

Thanks uLy_b0y, Napoleonic and MasterKontrol. I'm going to remove/install the original drivers and as you recommended try another driver.

 

If anyone is running 0.82 with an Nvidia card, especially a newer 400 series, your IV installation is working great (or good) and don't mind posting your driver version, it would be greatly appreciated.

 

To find your driver version in XP do this: Start>Run>DXDIAG (then press enter)>Display Tab>[under Drivers Area]Version
