Your version 196.21 is good, i'm using it for gf9600gt (almost the same card). Do not update drivers to newest, this is absolutely wrong idea for videocard drivers from ATI or NVidia. Why? Because every time they release new model of videocard and especially when new technology (dx11), all drivers became buggy, i see how this happens again and again, just trust me. All you can do is to search the latest pre dx11 driver (before nvidia gf 4xx was created and not beta), in them programmers really fixed most of the bugs. But, be careful with some versions, f.e. some of 19x.xx let you say sayonara to videocard (i wasn't lucky).

 

About sky in Assasin's Creed : brotherhood, i don't have this game and from video can't see anything except rotation of texture around user.

i use fpr my 9800GTX+ and my 8800GTX the newest drivers and dont have any problems with them...and not even one driver can kill your GPU! who told that to you?

Nvidia had driver, which didnt correctly controll cooler cycle, and it always worked on lower cycle, so that GPU would reach enormous temp and die.

It was the 196.75 drivers. My 9800 got fried, its a good thing I went back to the old drivers because I replaced my it with another one (had more memory but the same) before I knew it was the driver's fault. I'm too scared to update now... Whens that class action suit gonna come up?

it is exactly what it does...there are many Texture Overlays...the ones are faster than the other ones with rotating

Ok, if you don't believe me, search in google "nvidia driver burn", i'm not good in english keywords, but this is enough. As for new drivers, if you again don't believe, tell me the reason, why to update drivers? Better speed, hah? Or you wanna say that all newest versions fixing bugs, so they always having bugs (forever)?

if you don't know and thinking that was once, you totaly wrong. This happening always with nvidia, but for some videocards models. May be they doing this harm to sell new videocards, don't know, but this is true.

 

Update 2:

Assasins's Creed 2 clouds by texture layers are not interesting for me, it's stupid and non realistic for weather change in gta4.

thank you .. I will download those . Nice settings you guys have.. how much memory does GTA allow you to use ? I have a 4870x2 2GB (really its just 1GB thats available) but in the graphics menu it shows only 494mb available. It should be at least double that

I've tried your 7.3 and it's too bright and colorful for my taste.... the sky too, looks cartoony.

Guys could you please suggest me a good driver for Nvidia GF 9800GT card? My game version is 1.0.0.4 if it counts. Thank you, if you can help. I use the 196.21 driver.

Best display driver I used for 4xx series so far are the quadro 265.90 with modified inf so you can install it. You can update the other components (sound, physx) with the newest driver set, but keep the quadro display driver.

 

The newest 266.xx series has a AA bug in other games : if you set it above 4xAA, it can crash so wait for the next official update beyond 266.45.

 

But Boris is right for 8xx/9xx series... the newer drivers break things for those cards. Basic older drivers are better for older cards.

I must also add, that this is only a test of 0082, so refrain from trying to get it. It is changed every day. New features added and so on. All my previous screens were done using 0082.

 

This is the most realistic shot I've seen so far! Really feels like it came out of a movie, Tom Cruise in MI: 4 preview? Great work!

What kind of performance are you getting driving around with your SLI setup and 2600k? What speed do you have your cpu? Just want to compare if I should dump my 6950s and get a 580 instead.

boris as you can seee i have a GTX 470...and i install everytime the newest drivers!! and yes it is because of Speedup...in neewest games there are speedups...and i play the newest games the new Driver gives a speedup for BFBC2 , Dirt2 and some other ones he adds Need for Speed Hot Pursuite AA compatibility and so on Nvidia is working on their drivers ... i dont say that they are perfect but you should always use the newest one...and if you have problems with fanspeed...then controll after installing if its still working correctly... i only heared once about your problem and Nvidia had solved it! i am in 4 different Hardware Forums...biggest ones in germany...and i realy read many about the drivers and the new CPU releases and GPU releases! So i know what i am talking about ^^

 

and to the assassins creed thing...i dont like the assassins creed Sky

Nah, i never use the newest drivers right after the release. Prefer to check the forums and comments first. Im still sitting on 258.96, works flawless with enb in gta 4 and all other games. and it is really useless for most people with older gpus like nvidia 8xxx or 9xxx ti use newest drivers. No improvement for them anyway.
