[GTAIV|REL|BETA] ENBSeries graphic modification

Bone Final settings pre-release BETA is up!

I'm 99% done, nights needed some additional work, also modifications for spritelight, timecyc, visualsettings and enbseries.ini. If everything is OK official (lol) release comes tonight or tomorrow.

I normally use the settings in the main directory plus the files in the 'original textures' dir, but if you find things too dark or use modded city textures, try the more brightess version. Each has two additional versions for powerful and weak computers (AA=off) as well.

hey, I'm using this one, my gripe is that the environment looks a bit too dark (need 25-35% more overall/ambience illumination)

how can I do that?

I dunno why. Did you try the 'More brightness version?' It has more brightness. Please take a screenshot! BTW you can adjust brightness of sun lighted areas by adding like 0.1 or so to DirectLightingIntensity or adding 0.05 or so to luminance in enbeffect.fx. But please take a screenshot first so I could see how much brightness to add for the final release!

does the game allow to increase amount of particles to make a lot of smoke from cars and explosions? I'm thinking about lighting of them.

Isn't this done via common/data/effects ?

It can't be done via the timecyc, or visualsettings, but possibly the FX files.

Explosive objects can be found in Grand Theft Auto IV\common\data\effects\explosionFX.dat

Also, try using trainers (Simple Native Trainer can do it, if im correct) to create/spawn the effects.

I have improved my GTA 4 lag with ATI/AMD 6900 series in Crossfire and 10.12a RC3 drivers so wanted to share, especially for ENB users.

Hopefully, the next driver set will improve video ram usage and won't crash out the game due to erroneous memory detection with current drivers. I had to force -norestrictions in commandline.txt to get GTA4 to let me tweak anything! Dont mind the 4GB video ram. It is an error due to the new drivers and is reporting a lot of wrong things to GTA thus bad performance!

BUT Crossfire is working. 1 card is at half the average fps!

BTW: I'm using Ivan's OLD settings + shaders with Dpeasants bmp and texture maps for testing. The other good looking settings kills my system.

It would be great if you guys can compare the same spot with your playable settings for everyone's reference.

---

First, started a new game with ENB loaded and went the top of the bend after the docks where it always lags for me, then set all settings to the minimum except draw distance. You can see it has a huge impact on FPS on top right corner with ENB on. Draw distance is the main killer here:

user posted image

So to double check, I set draw distance to the min, but everything else up and enb off - 33 FPS playable:

user posted image

Same scene with ENB on ~ 28 FPS playable!

user posted image

So now to spot check the best tolerable minimum FPS based on draw distance:

21 FPS @ 32 draw distance, everything else max, enb on - tolerable minimum for me

user posted image

14 FPS @ 64 draw distance, everything else max, enb on - too laggy

user posted image

But lets double check another laggy spot with 32, 64 and 100 draw distance:

All the same and tolerable so it is only a few spots where it kills FPS. I currently have everything maxed out with 32 draw distance since I do not want less than 20 FPS.

Here is a long shot scene to see what my average is 40-60 FPS most of the time:

well that was my first try so I didn't know

here is some ss, with the normal version, sorry for the lack of AA lol.

^see, that was at 9AM.... too dark.... on some streets that covered by skyscrapers I had to actually turn on my lights lol, it was like at after sunset although it was on 12 AM...

user posted image

^ that one was at around 14 PM....

too dark... need more lights

it's quite perfect for nights though....

user posted image

^ almost perfect..., if not a bit too bright... my jaw dropped at that time, I couldn't believe GTA4 could look that good even if it was just post process lighting manipulation lol...

sorry can't test the other version because I have to sleep, it's 3AM here lol...

sooo... it's need like 30-35% or even possibly close to 50% lights at daylight especially at things that covered by shadows...

but need like 5-10% darker for nights especially under many lights.

complicated? lol...

In additon to the current version I'll throw in the OLD SATURATED VERSION as a bonus for the tomorrow release - this old version also has the benefits of the new settings just with higher contrast and saturation. But I recommend the normal settings as it's more realistic than this fancy looking version.

First screens in a while, these are just tests since I'm starting from scratch. Gone back to stock vehicles as well, I'm actually liking them because they fit more to the game,

makes a change from countless BMWs, Audis, Ferraris, etc..

Nice DKT70. Not overdone with pointless effects such as too much bloom and reflections.

Needs work but has a really good realistic feel icon14.gif

BTW, is it me or is Star Junction a bit empty...

the problem with your setting in my pc is that the SSAO (shadow darkening) is way toooo much

I tried reducing the AO amount under SSAO SSIL setting, but it has no effect!

any idea?

user posted image

see that? (I increased the direct light intensity already) the problem is that it's way too dark across the street, it's unrealistic. So how did you manage to reduce the SSAO? I know how to do it in Crysis lol, but I don't know how in this game lol.

*edit*

it may have something to do with I used 1.0.4.0 96MB patch...

I try reinstalling again icon13.gif

@-Bone-

I've reinstalled the game, and using your mod, it's fantastic, no dark places anymore

however there are 2 problems related to lights :

1. whenever I drove underpass, as I was passing by, tunnel lights switched off mercie_blink.gif

2. I got flickering lights at nights on some areas of the city. All lights, whether it's building windows, traffic lights, car lights, flickers.... rather random and not on all area.

just reporting 'bugs'
