and a creative xfi titanium is also good with nice settings its much better than booring onboard sound. i have a logitech z-5500 and it sounds very nice with that soundcard and good settings

 

yes the intel ssd is for the OS and some important programms like photoshop and...

 

but im waiting for the ati 6870 with 2gb vram for my system

@ Dpeasant3: Hmm, that's bad news about DOF not working properly with enbeffect.fx yet! Guess the motion blur masked the problem in your demonstration pics from the other day. Hope you can find a solution. In the meantime I might go back to non-ENB post-proc and see if I can tweak anything in visualsettings.dat as there are obviously DOF parameters in there, but I ain't holding my breath on any results! Besides, I find ENBs only negative side to be poor depth of lighting (especially with light hitting angled buildings) when using Boris' post-proc, I find stock p.p. to be better at this, but that could just be my fault with my settings(?)

 

I know what you mean about the scan-lines on some pictures, for me it only happens when running ENB A.A. mode (the pics I post are normally rendered @ 3840 x 2160, displayed in-game @ 1920 x 1080, then resized to 1000 x 562 for this thread). I've kinda got used to those lines, but will look into getting rid of them if that code fixes this!

 

FYI: the colour tints were done purely through timecycle (the first "Ambient Colour", and "Direct Colour") as I know shat-all about tweaking enbeffect.fx and applying filters that way. So far, I've found the only way to achieve specific required results is through a very close and harmonised editing of enb.ini and timecycle together anyway, although saying this I'm only mucking about with one weather type so if / when I try more types things will probably get more difficult to balance.

 

 

 

@ Noelgamo: I'm glad I'm not the only person to enjoy vanilla settings once in a while. Even EFLC on Xbox 360 had some very nice moments! The only thing I never liked too much about stock settings was sunrise / sunset with massive use of orange lighting (although it did remind me to be more aware about drenching everything in one consistent light colouring - to make it look more natural). Saying this, the pics in your later post look sweet also!

HA im now using Vanilla settings but actually im using a Graphic overhaul mod called Realizm IV which literally advertises its name on load up screens i will take screenshots to show you. um Im going to post my pics that i will show you of my settings for what i did in visualsettings.dat file that did awesome job of doing DOF. I dont like using ENB only b/c my system epic fails at it. But if i had a rig i would go all out with it. Especially what it can do. I have a post of my settings for both blur and dof. on page 30 or 31 i think. its the one with like 6 screenshots or 5 i think with also a code box showing my settings. Can try that. though i am using shaders from Realizm IV mod which i will state over and over is about 4.4 gigs. Though its good increase in graphics without fps drop.. In fact it highered my FPS overall ingame. which was awesome. I jumped from avg fps of 15 to 20 to like 20 to 30 fps. But though with my DOF and Blur Settings i am dropping fast in fps.

 

I Know EFLC can also use DOF and Blur but im wondering what i should do with that.

Are you talking about the mod i was referring too? Realizm IV 6.2? Um yea but problem is that it overwrites just about every file including the launcher and everything. and it turns it into a retail version files. so you would need either serial for retail vers or a crack for 1.0.4.0 that is only issue for that mod. and b/c it overrights the scripthook.dll it makes it into vers 0.2.6.0 which means you have to dl the scripthook.dll 0.4 if you use Native SImple Trainer newest vers and xliveless tweaks.

i am still working on a good AA for GTA IV.

well its really hard to get it to work... its very annoying cuz when i change sth i've got a fatal crash...

so i decided to continue on the bloom lightning and shadows alien.gif

@lpf312: OMFG!! Those have to be the best screens I've ever seen of GTA. Everything seems right (to my liking) - light is bright, vibrant, and extremely balanced and realistic, the colours are strong but not overwhelming in any way, reflections are beautiful, and the DOF effect is perfect. I am very very impressed and jealous. I normally hate it when people bug others for any settings or a release date but I'm going to break my own rule - how's your progress with your set and are you planning on releasing anything either soon or at all? Either way, all I'm to say is holy sh*t, and congratulations. Inspiring stuff.

Care to share how you managed to get DOF working then please? It'd be much appreciated to know this as when things don't go the way I want them to I start losing interest in modding real fast (happening right now)!

I was stupid enough to miss that line:

float2 off_c76=_c76.xy*min(focus+farblur+dof,1.0)

Ive just increased it to

float2 off_c76=_c76.xy*min(focus+farblur+dof,4.0)

Must play with more variables, as it doesnt seem to work correctly with all weather patterns(in sunny dof is closer, but in cloudy only distant buildings are blurred). Perhaps it has something to do with depth fx in timecyc.

I've a question. I am using mindofmike settings but I changed a couple values in visualsetting and enb ini to get head/tail lights to show less light so you can see detail in the lens better..

 

(pix are thumbs) This is one spot where I AM applying brakes & tail light seems to light decent (normal burning light is less intensity)

And then here I AM applying brakes but notice I moved the car slightly backwards and the light intensity has increased ..

So the problem is when I am driving around places, the regular burning light will change intensity similar to this, it'll be @ say intensity of 5, then jump to 8, back to 5 so makes it look like I'm applying brakes when I'm not ..

Anyone know if there is a setting I can adjust to fix this ?

I did happen to see that line of code, but it said that max value was 1.0, which is whait was already on hence why I didn't adjust it. Oh well, job done. I also agree that the DOF seems weather specific, but only because it's working ok in some types but I must've adjusted something in the timecycle for cloudy as the image goes crazy, almost full-screen embossed effect. Gonna work on this some more for sure. Thanks again for reinspiring me.

I've got it !!

I guess that the AA looks fine on my PC. happy.gif

It eats a lot of fps but well i love it how it looks ingame.

Try increasing\decreasing depth fx. Ive used my older timecyc, where depth fx near was = 16 and far = 128 in every weather, and dof worked stable on all of them. I just need to find correct value to control dof distance(actually, i can correct its distance through the enbeffect.fx, but i cant find needed value and it blurs the whle screen).

Edit: it had no effect. Editing enbeffect.fx, then.

Meedo - make sure you get at least i5-750 or i5-760 4 core cpu. That is what GTA needs. If you can afford it, maybe get the 460 GTX with 2 GB of ram so you can use super hires textures. I am buying a similar system.

 

lpf312 - Most realistic lighting I've seen so far!! Can you please share your settings? Great work!

Holysh*t. Awesome screeens biggrin.gif Since I ragequitted comuter gaming because of the impotency of the game developpers of big companies, and also quitted console gaming because of the 10 year old homosexual fa**ots who have their games modified so they can compensate their non-growing tiny dick, and pro 24/7 gamers with 1000k/0d ratio f*cking up everyones' game.

 

And now school's f*cked up too, almost no free time after a sh*tload of school AND homework.

 

So... can anyone point me to the posts where the latest settings were posted? I don't feel like looking though another 50 pages of awesome screens with somewhere a single link with no description whatsoever hiding between a few huge-ass pictures so nobody sees it. I feel like shooting up some random people in a very realistic way at 2.5FPS so real people won't be harmed.

Right, still not entirely sure what's going on here, but it's either timecycle and / or visualsettings.dat related. DOF is working, but at a distance I believe it's over applying itself and getting into a mess. I may have a visualsettings file in now which has been heavily tampered with so this may be the cause, and I've had a quick adjustment of Depth FX (was something like 50 to 2500, now 5000 to 5001). I was assuming Depth FX worked on same range values as farclip so tried to push timecycle effects out of range and let ENB effects do what I want, but I've run out of time today to confirm whether this is the problem or not - will carry on tomorrow. Either way, lpf312 has managed a seemingly closer DOF effect, and I'm convinced it's obviously achievable somehow!

 

Anyway, 2 test shots (with todays revised timecycle) to demonstrate the effect / problem...(click thumbnail for 1920 x 1080 versions)

LargeStyle such sh*t in the background happens due to the visualsettings params. Ive checked it out already. Its too late, however, to test more options, im going to sleep.

Why should it be unplayable? With videocard = to yours, i get decent 20 fps with 2560x2048(or aax2). Its with all options turned on, except SSAO, and shadow filtering = 0(damn, some psp games have framedrops down to 14 fps and theyre still palyable colgate.gif ).

I just want to make that stupid dof to work and then ill release it. Until then there are bugs with dof(appears and disappears randomly).

also, gotta do extrasunny and fix clouds(overbrightness).

So let me get this straight. You got DOF to work with enb? am i correct? what program should i use to edit DOF for timcycle.dat file. b/c everytime i open it with notepad it really is just all numbers.

this is what i did in the last few days.

i used all Dpeasant's files, only mindofmike's timecyc and DKT's visualsetting.

all files were edited by me.. and the enbseries.ini were made by me also.

damn... suicidal.gif i spent too much time for IV.

i want now to mod an other game, lol happy.gif

So apparently i was right. DoF can be used with ENB. It seems my statement was true. i think in my pics the reason why they said there was no dof was b/c the blur was too high. and my dof too low. Im glad you guys got DOF to work with ENB. biggrin.gif

 

So is DOF also edited in Timecycle.dat file? or what?

Chavez - your new settings looks better than before. The lighting is very natural now.

 

Q for everyone - does ENB features use CPU power or GPU If I turn on AA, DOF or blur in ENB settings? Just want to see where I should invest into more.
