Thought I would just add, I'm bowing out of this modding malarky, basically had enough of all this horsesh*t.

I'm not leaving the forum, will stay on in the background, but this is the last post from me for a while.

Good luck to the other modders, especially after the c*nt we have as a mod posted that complete horsecrap above without even thinking of the modders. Really makes me think that IF I ever bother again I will NEVER release it on this forum as long as this wanker mod is still a mod.

Special good luck to Large style, good luck in life, chap, and good luck finding a job.

I like how everyone's mad because people aren't posting their "mods", when in fact all they're doing is modifying a DX Hook.

In reality, calling it their "mod" only makes them sound arrogant; it's really not theirs, it belongs to the developer.

He should call the shots on who posts what.

I feel like crying now that you wanna leave after I got this new video card you helped me chose and have been waiting to try your hdr settings...lol

But it is sad that people are acting like cry babies for your wip and can't understand thats it's a wip forcing you to release before it's ready.

This aint Microsoft ready to release software before it's time and then release update after update because they can't get it right the first time....

It's suposed to be for fun and these asswipes just ruin it for everybody els with there selfishness.

Your doing great work DK don't give up cause of the idiots out there.

Figure I'll take matters here, for those of you showing screens off. SHOW YOUR SETTINGS

Otherwise don't post your screenshots, the settings aren't secret. Sharing them will help benefit the community.

Let's say that your cooking chiken for your family, will you serve them before it's ready????

So why should they release there sets before there done????

And it wont benefit nobody if it ain't completed just cause problems and headache.... You mit be a MOD but you should think before posting!!!

@ ultra99:

BTW, is anyone here have a good setting to use with EnB? I don't mean EnB Settings, I mean, the GTA 4 settings (texture/density/shadow).

Because I am not sure how much / how demanding EnB would be - how much free video ram should I left it with for EnB to use?? Right now my GTA 4 setting is almost maximum of my video memory,

I got a 512mb Nvidia 9800 GTX and GTA 4 reports that I am currently 430mb/472 mb full (its still green - but barely). So what's the optimal space to leave for EnB?

I'm not on my gaming computer @ the mo, otherwise I'd post a screen of my GTA in-game settings. The "Auto" config option can do a decent job of setting things up for you, but it will give you a higher amount of view distance than I normally prefer, so I turn this down so that it gets the resource text comfortably into green colour. The coloured text indicators (green, amber, and red) do give a good indication of how well your computer will run the game. Anything within the green and it's going to run as well as can be expected, but this doesn't mean it'll run really badly if it's in the red, it just means its out of optimum performance range. I normally use the commandline.txt to force twice the video RAM I actually have in order to set whatever graphics I like. Setting the game up is really a matter of just tweaking for quite a while until you find a balance which you're happy with. ENB can have a performance hit, but this varies from set to set. I never mind this hit as I get so much more graphics that it's to be expected as a consequence really.

That post was just completely wrong. No-ones getting mad, but people are getting frustrated with the hassles and harrasments received by a minority of forum users, and even moderator(s). Neither is anyone claiming to take responsibility for Boris' work, the concept of doing that within this thread (which was started by Boris) it just stupid. Also, a mod can be remodded - as you said it yourself, we're modifying code, so we're modders - Boris kindly gave us the canvas, paints and brushes, and we are each painting our own picture.

Well said chap, +1 to that. I had 40+ downloads of my last picture set within 24 hours of posting the link. It seems people are interested in using pictures to see how mod progress goes after all !!

@ whoever cares:

I'm gonna post my latest pictures of my Cloudy set regardless of what has been mentioned. I've started to work on setting up a 24 hour cycle now, hence the time in the top left of pictures (for my reference). There's a butt-load of taxis and cop cars around, I've recently changed my vehicles.img file which has caused this. Car / window reflections have now been adjusted and compensated for the change in lighting from the other day, but "those" taxis are still too reflective as that's just how they are.

I'm not linking any 1920x1080 pics (even though they demonstrate things much better than pics above) seeing as I'm not posting any setups I've probably gone too far already. Apologies regarding this to legitimatly interested fellow forum users - if the moderator wishes to make statements as done recently then consequencial responses and reactions like mine (and perhaps other users) are to be expected.

@ DKT70:

I'm sorry to hear that the negatives have overwhelmed the positives, but I totally understand, and in fact am not surprised. You have no doubt had the most hassle of late, and all for the being person who has been the most dedicated modder and forum user. Thank-you also for your comments directed to myself, I can't state how much having consideration and support is generally important to me right now. Once I've finished this post, I'll PM you my full set of pics as a "breaking" or parting gesture.

@ Moderator(s):

I hope you re-evaluate and rephrase your method of requesting more setups and less pictures, if not actually reverse that statement altogether. As I already stated, when I initially read "that post" I thought you were a lesser informed forum user as your comments were seemingly not made in the interest of enbseries, GTA progression, and general forum users gaming experiences. If you don't want picture posts without setups still, then fair enough, it's your forum, but one which I will also bugger off from as I would then think that this forum wouldn't have the "right" and appropriate environment and community interests and values at heart.

@LargeStyle: WOWY WOW WOW WOW WAWAWEWA! Those are the most realistic pictures to date in my opinion, and IF you do get banned or something for posting those amazing shots, then I'm leaving too. I will not be posting any more pics of my set. If you want to download it, its back a few pages. This site just ruined it for me.

My contribution:

I take no credit for my settings, I started with the standard .ini and added a mix of P1ch3's and my own tweaking. All props go to P1ch3 and Boris for developing this. DTK70, Largestyle, your shots look great. Its cool to see what everyone here is able to do.

These shots are extra sunny. No texture mods, just enb.

Why the hell would he get banned for showing his screenshots? All I'm saying if you're doing repeated showing off, not progress screenshots but just purely showing off is when I'd like settings to be shown, but if you're just show progressing then thats fine.

And those that steal and claim as their own will never set foot on these boards again.

haints: thanks for your comments in general. DKT70 was correct in that my sky is overpowered and is causing the over-reflective effect on some cars. I balanced these reflections prior to sky adjustments and simply ran out of time that night to experiment with and compensate settings. The BMW seems a little more reflective than some original GTA cars, and the taxis I've recently included are uber-reflective. I need to look into finding a car editor to see if I can change individual cars relfection amounts, and maybe change this metalic effect also.

LargeStyle--you and DKT70 may be right, but let me illustrate what I am talking about.

The first shot is with [CARWINDOWGLASS] ReflectionAmount set to 1.3. The second shot has it set to 0.8.

See the difference? In your original screenshot that prompted my comments, the rear windshield had the same sort of white glow as demonstrated in my first photo posted above. It isn't an over-reflective effect on the car itself-- it's just on the windshield. And that is why I think it has to do with the CARWINDOWGLASS rather than some more general sky setting, but of course I could be wrong.

EDIT: forgot to add--your latest shots are AMAZING!

@everyone--I think we should all take a deep breath concerning the recent tension over screenshots and settings. I really don't think there is a problem here, more of a misunderstanding. I can only think of one person (Eryk03) who has repeatedly posted the same sort of screenshots over and over again with no intention of ever sharing his settings with anyone, and he doesn't even post in this thread. So everyone, please calm down. Yes, there are some modders who post screenshots of works in progress and they don't give out their settings because they haven't finished them yet. There is NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS. Just accept that you have to wait, or go ahead and try out someone else's settings. If you keep demanding that they give you their settings before they have finished with them, then they may get aggravated and refuse to share their settings, period, as sadly seems to have happened with DKT70. In which case you will have only yourselves to blame for being so impatient.

As for Gangsta Killa or other mods banning people who don't share their settings--I'm not sure where this idea comes from. Unless I missed it, Gangsta Killa never said he was going to do this. Yes he said people shouldn't keep posting screenshots without sharing their settings, and I agree with him on that, but I don't think he was talking about works-in-progress like those of DKT70 and LargeStyle. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong). Now Eryk03 did get a temporary ban but that was only because he was causing so much anger in the screenshots thread, spamming the thread over and over with the same sorts of identical shots and refusing to share any information about them, ever. His was a special case and again, he was only banned for a few days. (I personally wish he'd been banned permanently from posting his screens for all the aggravation he caused, but sadly, he is back to his old tricks.) EDIT: I wrote this before I saw Gangta Killa's post above in which he says essentially the same thing. Sorry about the repetition.

@DKT70. I wish you'd reconsider your decision to cease posting your screens here. Just as we both didn't want LargeStyle to leave, I don't want you to leave. Don't let one person--fuzzagamer?--stop you from contributing to the thread. I always enjoy your screenshots and now that you and I have buried the hatchet I will miss the chance to comment/compliment you on them.

LargeStyle

@ resante: Nice pics (I especially like the Lamborghini shot with the flared rear lights). I'll try your set later, but I assume I need to use standard timecycle.dat(?)

@ Gansta Killa: You did make the basic and over-simplistic statement on no pics with no settings - this vagueness obviously caused miscommunication and mass confusion! Regardless, thanks for rephrasing and clarifying your original statement. I suspised that your initial comment was directed more at non-WIP (hence why I suggested a re-evaluation and rephrasement), but it's nice to know for sure now, and we can move forward again with things.

@ haints: Thanks for your demonstration of your comments and feedback, it's rare to see others actually go to that length to make their point. I agree with what you initially said about my first set of pics, but I think I've compensated for things better now, or at least as good as I can get while having a mix of non-standard cars with original ones. The last pic I posted with the mix of normal taxis and modded ones shows how different the reflective amounts can get. I've briefly looked into getting a car editor and so far have found nothing. I've tried to set it so "average reflective" cars are balanced so "those taxis" don't stand out too much, and the stock cars don't seem dull, flat, and unrealstic. You seem to be using stock cars only, so I think upon release (if I ever get that far) I'll do at least 2 versions based on reflections, one for standard car setups (should be balanced and consistent throughout) and another set for people such as myself that like to change vehicles to modded ones. BTW: nice to see you posting more again (although I know you've been busy of late)

Thanks to people for the comments about my post and pics. FWIW: here's the 1920x1080 versions of those pics..

LargeStyle, looks awesome, I think you have the "cloudy" weather nailed down. Incredible!!

On another note, I tried out several version of EnB series, and it seems that 0.78 SORA and 0.79 SORA both have bugs when I run it.

I get this "Green" color highlight on all the cars that have crome highlights. Does anyone know why??

Stranger still, if I use DKT70's setting (which use 0.78 SORA as baseline), It will look fine - no green crome highlight whatsoever. I am suspecting it has something to do with the shaders since DKT70 includes his own shaders. So any ideas?

Oh, and what does "SORA" mean?

EDIT : Bizzare. Now its showing up as bright PINK now.

@ resante: Nice pics (I especially like the Lamborghini shot with the flared rear lights). I'll try your set later, but I assume I need to use standard timecycle.dat(?)

Correct, i have a standard timecycle.dat.

Try setting ForceNvidia to "true" or "false," whichever is the opposite of how you have it in those pics.
