I have to agree with "ultra99" he is absolutely right! nobody releases settings! they just say look look look look, and the settings are secret! muahahaha! mine! fine i dont mind, but the people that show screens and its been for ever! come one! WTF is this! we think your going to release something good, but all you do is post screens,! and you know, you see people are asking for the settings! but you just dont care? i dont understand!

There are or have been a few people on these forums who repeatedly post screens and refuse to share their settings. I think this is very selfish and have spoken out about it in the past. But DKT70 and LargeStyle are NOT in this category. DKT70 has released a set in the past and I'm fairly confident that he will do so again WHEN he is finished with his current set. I know for a fact that LargeStyle will release his IF he ever finishes it. Both of these men are extremely helpful and giving of their time. So while some people may deserve to be called out for their selfishness, they are not among them.

On a side note--you have people's attention now, so please drop the extra large red font. It is visually obnoxious.

@ ikt: Look in the enb .ini and have a look at your Azimuth settings - I can't remember off top of head which one it is (maybe multiplier) but reduce each relevant value one-by-one 'till you find which command is the one to change and with a bit of experimentation your sky horizon will blend into the sky much better. Alternatively you can reduce the Azimuth indirectly in timecycle.dat but that'll change the whole sky, not just the area you want modifying.

haints: thanks for your comments in general. DKT70 was correct in that my sky is overpowered and is causing the over-reflective effect on some cars. I balanced these reflections prior to sky adjustments and simply ran out of time that night to experiment with and compensate settings. The BMW seems a little more reflective than some original GTA cars, and the taxis I've recently included are uber-reflective. I need to look into finding a car editor to see if I can change individual cars relfection amounts, and maybe change this metalic effect also.

@ Gilly1987: I am using 1.0.3.0 patch with my GTA so I'm inexperienced with your problem first-hand, but I believe that your game is crashing because you're trying to use the latest versions of game patch and enbseries together, which are not compatible with each other. Either use an older game patch if possible with any enb version, or stick with the latest patch (not really recomended if you want the best out of enb) while using an older enbseries version.

Like I said, not sure as I don't use latest patch but I understand that this GTA IV patch is effectively what's in Episodes from Liberty City (as standard) and the only enb that works with that is 0.077b. If you want to try the latter suggestions route then check out the EFLC thread in "Mod Showroom -> Tools" section of forum, which was initiated by P1ch3.

Hmmmm, after looking at so many great looking screenshots.. I was finally tempted into installing EnB.

And after I started GTA IV - The game loads fine, but I enter the game - there is a graphical "glitch" display on screen... it looks like a thin texture overlay on screen.. and after i exit the safe house, it got worse, it start having lines on the screen and then weird geometry and then it crash.  The error is "RESC10 Error : Out of video memory – Please re-boot your system"... and I got scared (I have heard that people's graphics card burn out after having GTA IV error due to capacitors on video card works too hard and burn out..) so I removed the EnB mod and rebooted the system, and my windows now runs in 640x480 mode... I have to reset the system again for the setting to restore. And when I try to run GTA IV now, the onscreen overlay glitch won't appear anymore (since I remove the EnB mod) but now it will crash few seconds after I exit the safe house - same error "RESC10 Error : Out of video memory – Please re-boot your system".  Now it got me really scared. I was running GTA IV fine before, no problem whatsoever, but now after I tried EnB everything seems to be mess up. I try to remember what went wrong, and I realize I have updated my graphics card driver from Nvidia 182.50 WHQ to 197.45 WHQ.

I went to check the setting and I realize I had PhysX turn on, so I disable that, and tried again with GTA IV, and it STILL CRASH with SAME RESC10 Error. So now I am out of ideas...

Did anyone have the same problem happen to them before??

My system setup  : Intel Core 2 Quad 9300, Nvidia 9800 GTX,  4 GB of Ram, Windows XP SP2, GTA IV v1.02

yeah, basically its when your GFX card runs of video ram and decides to jump about and say its out.

I've had that problem as well: usually it happens if you have 512mb (like I do) for VRAM, and ENB actually uses quite a lot of graphical memory.

did you try turning down the graphical settings?

crevlthe

p.s. oh and, DKT70, nice screenshots!

Yeh, my GFX Card is 512 mb, and I am running the latest nvidia WHQ driver v197.45. The first thing I have tried before uninstalling GTA IV was to turn down all the graphics settings to lower the memory usuage, and that only makes the game last a little longer. It seems there is a memory leak somewhere and it was only minutes before the video memories were filled up and the game would hard crash. After the crash to desktop - even my desktop wallpaper would not update properly and I would have to restart the computer to get it all working again.

I have uninstalled GTA IV as last resort, and reinstalled it. And it STILL CRASH with the same "RESC10 Out of video memory" error.

Now, the only option left is to uninstall my nvidia driver, and reinstall the old v182.50 driver. I am not even sure 182.50 was my last working driver.

I really would not want to do this, to revert back to old video card driver as some of my other softwares depends on it. And uninstalling nvidia drivers and revert back may cause catastrophic system failure if not being careful (I have personally experienced this...), so any ideas what might have cause this?

Figure I'll take matters here, for those of you showing screens off. SHOW YOUR SETTINGS

Otherwise don't post your screenshots, the settings aren't secret. Sharing them will help benefit the community.

Please don't try and tell others what to do. What benefit would it be for others to see less of our hard work and progress? I agree that it would be the decent thing to do for someone to post pictures only if they're willing to release their set when it's ready. To not release files and only show off for their own personal benefit perhaps isn't too helpful to the community, but the way I see it, any information is a help. I post pictures with the hopeful intent to be releasing my mod soon-ish, so I am sharing my work with others so that they might appreciate seeing updates, or maybe seek help and assistance, or even just to provide artistic direction to others. One of the reasons why I (and presumably other modders) work so damn hard on getting the game visually right and as desired is so that once finished we can share to the public for their enjoyment also. DKT70 made the rather good suggestion of maybe releasing mods with password encryption so only the truely appreciative can enjoy the mods. Also please remember that modding GTA takes an immense amount of time and work to get even just one weather type right, let alone the whole game. It can be 10x more frustrating making the mod than it is simply waiting for a release, so try and understand what's involved and exercise a bit of patience - this will reward you in the end. Otherwise, we can all be secretive and not show and share anything, which would be a terrible shame and waste of opportunity if we all got like this.

The only gripe I may have with picture posting is when they take up a massive amount of space on screen so it's a pain to simply read the page properly, or when people quote half a page of screens when a simple reference or single picture quote would be perfectly adaquate. Not trying to whinge, but it would save forum space and make it easier to use.

People like to show off their screenshots that's fair enough, but they do it repeatly and don't show any settings to go with that, that others could use for guidance.

Bullcrap, there are way too many assholes out there who want our settings purely for their own good, NOT the good of the community. Taking other people's hard work without giving ANY credit to the ones who spend weeks doing this is plain wrong, and as far as I'm concerned people like that need to have a lifetime ban, period.

Gangsta Killam, You made it Clear. Show, or dont POST ! Thanks Dude,

That fact that this little f*cker went running to the mods screaming like a child has changed my view completely, infact if any release is ever going to happen now it will be passworded.

And I'll ask this little sh*t one thing infront of everyone, Are you getting paid for "Your" mods ? Because I have had a private message from Youtube telling me that you have some sort of sponsor deal going on, so, is this for a mod that includes ENB ?

I can't verify if this is true, but if it is, then you will NEVER get my mod, period. And I have blocked you from my Youtube channel, because I don't want any association with some asshole that requires 5-star ratings and subs and forum registration to get a mod that probably doesn't even belong to you.

And to the mod, if you want to enforce this then it better be a blanket enforcement, including ALL of these forums, but after this you can shove this rule up your arse.

@ Gangsta Killa:

Didn't realise till after posting you're a moderator, so I'll back-track on my assertiveness to you a little out of respect. My points do kinda still stand, although I totally understand your point of view. I will personally release anything of worth once it's done, but there are probably loads of people like me that post WIP as it's all we've got, and as our setups are unfinished they could be more misleading than informative. Besides, as you'll be more than aware of, what's right for one person/setup will be wrong for another. You have my word that I'll release something asap, but I don't even have a playable game for even one 24/7 weather set, so I would put myself into the learning category, not the teaching one! smile.gif

Everyone, calm down duuuuuudes! smile.gif

DKT70 - I think it is safe to say, EVERYONE in the community can see how much care, love and efforts you are putting into your MOD, because it really shows. Its one of the best looking MOD (if not the best) because of effort you put in specifically for not only to get the look right for each timecycle, but also you try to edit/create the shaders itself, which I understand is enormous effort. I think everyone is just eager to try it out for themself that's all.

SHARE THE LOVE ! inlove.gifinlove.gif

I mean, Boris would have wanted to see us all sharing the settings too right ?? He release the ENB series openly and selflessly even though he got verbally abused (I am slowly reading this thread one by one) but he still release them and share with the community which I have the highest respect for him. I am sure majority of us here is grateful for his contribution, and nobody would want to diminish his contribution in any way. But to put password on it - I think that's against the spirit of sharing isn't it ?? Afterall, he created the mod and share with everyone here and if everyone starts to put password on their mod, what's the point of even sharing ???

Also, I agree with you there are unscrupulous a-holes out there out to take credit and screw over everyone, but a few bad apples are just few bad apples, you just have to let it go and move on. Majority of the people aren't bad. After all, Rockstar decided to release GTA IV on the PC even though PC gaming is rampant with piracy, but they didn't let a few pirates deter them from releasing. If they didn't then there would be no Boris's EnB mod for GTA IV, and thus no DKT70's mod of EnB.... smile.gif

I also want to say I want to apologise if I offended anyone. My initial posting was when I started reading this topic - I read the first 20 posts, and the last 30 posts of this thread. I honestly DID NOT SEE those shared settings after I dig in a bit deeper later ... (I am still reading the whole thread - it's 250+ pages!! WOW!!)

I myself is only starting to get into the modding too (slowly) and only started to learn the craft, first by reading and looking at the settings and comparing them. Again, I would say any type of mod creation is a lot of effort. I think everyone should back off and respect the modders own time schedule.

So, all I wanted to say is, calm down everyone, and share the love ! biggrin.gif

On another note - I have just discovered I left a /3GB switch to my boot.ini. I think this might be the cause of my GTA 4 crashing, wish me luck smile.gif (rebooting)

[EDIT] : OH MY GAWWWWD!!! IT IS THE /3GB SWITCH THAT SCREWED MY GTA IV !!!

I can't believe a little switch like /3GB would screw up my GTA IV so badly. It just sounds so remotely even relate to GTA IV!! (I didn't even know GTA IV would use all the memory above 2GB!!)

To think that I suffered 2 days for it, installing, reinstalling, trying everything.... ARRRRGGG !!!

biggrin.gif

So, incase ANYONE in the future get this same problem (I know RGSC 10 Out of video memory is a complex problem) - one of the solution is to REMOVE /3GB SWITCH FROM YOUR BOOT.INI !!!

i don't think that it's even possible to get a sponsoring for releasing mods, because mods are basedon contents wich are protected by copyrights, so if he would get any financial profit out of the mod it would be a copyright break and he would get sued.

the ENB mod is a different thing tho, boris basicaly developed his own external post processing engine wich isn't a copyright break, so if anyone here has the strong urge to give something back to him for his work, feel free to do it colgate.gif

and DKT70 just ignore people like this you will meet them everywhere and i'm pretty sure that you know that.just keep doing what you do have fun with modding and just ignore anyone who's asking about a release, i think we have gone through this often enough now and you stated your point about a release.

BTW, is anyone here have a good setting to use with EnB? I don't mean EnB Settings, I mean, the GTA 4 settings (texture/density/shadow).

Because I am not sure how much / how demanding EnB would be - how much free video ram should I left it with for EnB to use?? Right now my GTA 4 setting is almost maximum of my video memory,

I got a 512mb Nvidia 9800 GTX and GTA 4 reports that I am currently 430mb/472 mb full (its still green - but barely). So what's the optimal space to leave for EnB?
