Took a spin in me M3 with my current Cloudy set.

 

 

BTW. Some great pics over the past few pages, thanks for sharing also.

Your set started out awesome and it's just gotten better from there, LargeStyle. Great, great stuff--very distinctive and eye catching. Haven't had a chance to look at all your latest photos but I will.

 

Would you consider two minor suggestions based on the shot above? Possibly reducing the metallic paint texture just slightly, and maybe dropping the amount of reflection in the rear windows (I think it is ReflectionAmount= under [CARWINDOWGLASS] but it could be SpecularAmount= under the same heading--I'm not at my home PC, so I can't double check.) If you look at the rear windshield on the taxi in the shot above, it has a kind of white sheen because it is all reflected light--I had this same look with my set and changed it by tweaking the settings I mentioned--this lets you see a little bit more into the car's interior and makes for a slightly more realistic look IMO.

 

 

Been trying all day to get Cloudy, 12pm, just right. Getting everything bright but grey and dull, and no shadows, has been a little frustrating, but here are 2 shots I was happy with

 

 

DKT70--meant to compliment you on these screenshots from a few pages back. The lighting in these shots reminds me of some of my favorite action/thriller movies from the late 60s/70s (back when Hollywood actually knew how to make good action movies). Bullit is one, but I'm thinking in particular of The French Connection, a movie that definitely helped inspire Rockstar when they made GTA IV (the mission where you have to chase someone on a train is a direct homage to a scene from that film, for anyone who hasn't seen it.) The color scheme from vanilla GTA IV is much more like that from the first two Godfather movies, however (a lot of muted autumn colors: golds and yellows and browns) which was okay, but I like the direction you are going in better. (Bullit is another film from that era which had similar lighting, even though it was set in San Francisco, not New York.)

 

@wonderblunt--I understand why you felt the need to defend someone you respect when you thought that person was under attack, but the poster who said "this looks so real it has to be fake," or words to that effect, really was just saying: these shots look really, really real--not that they actually were fake.

Seriously, I believe this can be turn into a good community project, since the "realistic" look depends on the atmospheric condition, weather and time of the day, so I understand it is a lot of work to get each time segement and weather conditions right (each hour x every weather conditions). Same thing happen at Crysis modding community when people start making ToD (Time of the day) modding - we could probably each specialize in a weather condition, and a time slot...

 

On a second thought, the realistic look also largely depends on WHERE you are - due local atmospheric conditions - so a sunny day at New York will look very different to a sunny day at Japan, or London or Johannesburg, regardless of weather condition due to different environmental factors (location in relation to the sun, atmopheric pressure, humidity etc). So what may look "right" for a person in one city, is wrong for another person in another city. So, a more "London look" (foggy and sober) can be filed under "style".

I understand people's frustrations, but also understand this, it won't be YOU that gets the sh*t when things go wrong with a WIP release that crashes user's GTA, it will be ME, and I'm not going through all that again.

My own timecyc is completely unique (I don't mean unique in a sort of "Better than everyone else" way, I mean it doesn't contain any other user's or Rockstar's settings), every setting was zeroed, no values existed in any weather or time pattern. From there I got Extra Sunny working, without even GTA running - just using EditIV I managed to get 1 single weather working so I can go in-game and try things out. Now a few weeks on and I have all weathers doing something on most times, but not all times, so if you select a time with zero values the games crashes back to the desktop. I could only concentrate on Extra Sunny 12pm - 6pm because of my saved game, it loads at 2pm in-game so I can go straight to a trainer and play around with 12pm to 6pm only. After that, many many hours of walking, driving, and taking pics.

 

Also, you need understand this, there is a ENB bug at 6am, 8pm - 5am, on ALL weathers. It affects the whole lighting at specific places in the game, making the environment light darken quite considerably, with some places covering almost the whole part of that city, and only the outer parts of that city work well. Those running with their ENB ini setting "EnableSkyLighting=false" won't see this bug because the lighting is now darker anyway.

 

Also, FuzzaGaming, Don't you think its ironic you having a screaming fit about releases, yet on your own Youtube page you FORCE users to give you 5-star ratings on your videos, AND subscribe to you, or you won't give them YOUR settings ? And, on your own website, you make users register just to view forums and even the download sections. So don't come here screaming about releases when you yourself are limiting your own releases, especially if my own effect file is among "Your" release. If you keep this up, I'm going to password any release I make, then only give out the password to users of this forum via PM.

 

Haints, cheers again for the comments. I think it's that great car that gives it that sort of old movie look you suggested. I also agree what you said about MrAgentGuy's comments, I think he was surprised by how good everyone's mods look. BTW, I don't think Largestyle's reflections are the problem, I think it's the white sky is too strong, hence the stronger reflections. If you tone-down the sky, the reflections will also tone down.

Hmmmm, after looking at so many great looking screenshots.. I was finally tempted into installing EnB.

And after I started GTA IV - The game loads fine, but I enter the game - there is a graphical "glitch" display on screen... it looks like a thin texture overlay on screen.. and after i exit the safe house, it got worse, it start having lines on the screen and then weird geometry and then it crash. The error is "RESC10 Error : Out of video memory – Please re-boot your system"... and I got scared (I have heard that people's graphics card burn out after having GTA IV error due to capacitors on video card works too hard and burn out..) so I removed the EnB mod and rebooted the system, and my windows now runs in 640x480 mode... I have to reset the system again for the setting to restore. And when I try to run GTA IV now, the onscreen overlay glitch won't appear anymore (since I remove the EnB mod) but now it will crash few seconds after I exit the safe house - same error "RESC10 Error : Out of video memory – Please re-boot your system". Now it got me really scared. I was running GTA IV fine before, no problem whatsoever, but now after I tried EnB everything seems to be mess up. I try to remember what went wrong, and I realize I have updated my graphics card driver from Nvidia 182.50 WHQ to 197.45 WHQ.

I went to check the setting and I realize I had PhysX turn on, so I disable that, and tried again with GTA IV, and it STILL CRASH with SAME RESC10 Error. So now I am out of ideas...

 

Did anyone have the same problem happen to them before??

 

My system setup : Intel Core 2 Quad 9300, Nvidia 9800 GTX, 4 GB of Ram, Windows XP SP2, GTA IV v1.02

It's outside enbseries.ini, it's in 'effect.txt' or something. It doesn't exist yet, you have to copy and paste it from somewhere. But it works.

That's odd because when i try different effect.txt or just remove it nothing happens, but when i change the enbseries.ini the sharpening is different. Doesn't that mean there must be something in the .ini that controls it somehow?

 

EDIT: nevermind, I thought it was the sharpening but it was actually the blur I'm talking about. With the enbseries.ini I'm using it's all blurred as if when you press P with vanilla GTA only I can't disable it.

If you search at some pages, like for example 244, you will see that the best settings have been uploaded. Steele's, yug74's etc.

but the enb effects without aa are better then gta without effects but with aa.

you have to update your drivers at nvidia.com and disable anti aliasing and use patch 1.0.4.0 your system is better then mine but it runs fine for me.

 

i have 9600gt, intel dual core 2.66ghz, 3gb ram
