Game Mission Autonomy

Here is something that R* should consider when programming missions. With Most Wanted/Vigilante missions the fact that you target seem to be aware of your intentions and you position needs to be fixed. It's like they are psychic or something. I always wanted to have the option of taking my foes by surprise or creating distractions/booby traps or using certain vehicles (Police Choppers) to your advantage.

However, I do think that in some cases certain criminals who are territorial should at least have guards who zealously defend their turf if there are intruders. (such as giving warnings to stay away)

Options:

Quick and quiet (Stealth): In SA it was used for specific missions and in GTA 4 it wasn't there. It should be an option that is alway available in any mission. If you screw up being stealthy you can still salvage the mission. Typically, silenced weapons would be ideal. Stealth kills with the knife should return. (but with more variation)

Loud and nasty: If you want to switch it up an put up a fight like Rambo, then this would be the option for you. Using explosive charges and booby traps such as grenades and claymores you can waste the henchmen and with Assault rifles (with attached grenade launchers) and M249 SAWs you can mop up what's left.

Capturing: I mentioned this in another thread. A great way to enhance Most wanted/Vigilante missions is to have a bounty hunter element. Thus you have a dead or alive option meaning you can use non-leathal weapons to subdue enemies. Tranquilizer guns would be ideal for capturing foes the easiest. Stun Guns and melee attack would also work as well. The Perk of bringing in a foe alive would be that you get paid more. (handcuffs make them more managable)

Diversions: Basically, exploding vehicles, gas tankers, flashbangs and tear gas should be method of getting the jump on your foes.

(Note:These changes aren't specific for Most wanted/Vigilante mission alone...)

Mate, nice thread you have here. I am totally agree with you about the bounty hunter element. It will be fun to be able to arrest criminals instead. Besides, bounty hunters always has a rogue element with it. They are not exactly cops, so they can use any methods to arrest criminals, whether legally or illegally. It would fit GTA perfectly.

Great thread. Adding onto this I think Most Wanted/Vigilante missions should be expanded in a way that you can raid warehouses, cargo ships etc with your own "Swat Team". (Maybe using your friends?)

You could cease stuff like weapons, drugs, money, stolen goods etc for your own use. wink.gif

I like what you got here so far!

Another idea I had that spawned off your capturing method is the decision system could be an occurrence in certain vigilante missions.

Let's say Mr.X is holed up in an apartment complex. You blast through his cronies and arrive at his location. Instead of the typical 'he shoots at you' scenario he might throw his hands up and plead for his life. The recticle would go from red to blue as in the game. Then if after a set amount of time you dont kill him you can walk him back (still aiming) to the Police Car and he gets in back. Then you drop him off at the police station.

Perhaps there could be an element where you are rewarded for capturing a target alive? It would be an interesting change of pace and make a little more sense when targeting a criminal who is a low level offender.

This is good.

I have always thought of these Ideas, But i never posted them. You have a fair point though, Rockstar should really include these kind of options. wink.gif

That way, the people that complain about mission variety just aren't playing well...

Stealth would be great if they did it right. Disguises would be cool, too. I wanted to be able to sneak up to Vlad in a cardboard box....

I like that! Another interesting thing I would like to see would the option to sell weapons for some added income.

But the stealth option would also have to include the option of being in the prone position. (crawling on your stomach)

To add. I would also like to see more autonomy to commit heists. I would love to have the freedom to "Three Leaf Clover" whatever bank or any other monetary institution.

Too right, mate. But you must be able to set up a gang to do so. Major bank heists rarely done by one man only. Maybe like a empire mission.

I really really wanted to be able to rob more banks. I'd love if they added this.

The bounty hunter idea is great, I also like the idea of raiding warehouses (and such) and then taking the goods for myself.

Man, I want GTA 5 here already and it's probably still 2 - 3 years away. sad.gif

Very true, That why I hope they fix one big issue that is present in GTA SA and 4: Limiting the number of passengers in any vehicle to four. (even with busses and Helicopters) I would like to see the vehicle capacity limitation be more realistic so that if I had a crew of seven, (or even 10) I could use APCs and Armored troop transport vehicles as escape vehicles.

It will be exaggerating to use APCs for it is not that accessible. I go for larger passenger capacity in vans and SUVs. In real life, a van or a SUV can sit more than four people. So why in GTA, they can only sit four? They should be realistic in this sense.

I like this idea, but I think it should be a bit more complex than just robbing any bank at anytime. Like you have to steal blueprints for vaults, get security passes etc or something to that nature.

I want it to feel like "The Job" from VC, but I can do it outside of a mission. smile.gif
