M. H. Hunter III 135
pretty much those are the ones that are on my short list of sad/depressing songs. Although there are more, but they alright have been spoken for, for the most part. Although i did have to one-up the doors/floyd postings with more depressing/sad tracks by both artists. then to end this here is: A Link Bittersweet.....cursed song depressing yes, overplayed yes, still listen to it yes Edited August 3, 2009 by Master Headhunter

Clem Fandango 5,174
King's Crossing would probably be Elliott Smith's saddest song, in my opinion. Indeed, though I never found much of his stuff to be particularly depressing. It's not the most upbeat stuff out there, but he hasn't made much music I would consider depressing. And I agree with whoever posted Dance With The Devil. You Never Know by Immortal Technique is kind of depressing as well, but it doesn't have the same effect, and he hardly tells the story with due eloquence as he does in the last two verses of Dance With The Devil. trip 14,605
There are tons, but I'm going to list an easy one. Quick back story(because I know no will listen to the whole song): I played guitar for many many years with a friend/roommate and even though we could nail this song he refused to play it. The reason he couldn't do the song was because of the dog part at 4:33-4:

Pyrrhic 795
This is the saddest motherf*cker of a song. I literally can't even watch the video of it because I know it will make me cry. Brings back the best moments of my childhood, this was the credits song for the Tigger Movie (yes, Tigger as in Winnie the Pooh) and brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it.
