rehan751
I just bought a XFX Geforce GTS 250 4 days back and I installed GTA IV. Although the benchmark shows 35 FPS I get 25-30 FPS with FRAPS and it sometimes dip down to 20 and then again goes to 30. I have looked at many topics and am using -norestrictions and -nomemrestrict command lines. I want some ways to improve my FPS. One more thing I don't have any patch installed right now and I want to. Tell me can I directly apply 1.0.4.0 or I have to first apply Patch 1, then Patch 2 and then Patch 3. And if yes where can I get the older patches? ------------------------------------------ Statistics Average FPS: 34.43 Duration: 36.97 sec CPU Usage: 83% System memory usage: 68% Video memory usage: 90% Graphics Settings Video Mode: 1440 x 900 (60 Hz) Texture Quality: High Render Quality: High View Distance: 30 Detail Distance: 55 Hardware Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 Video Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 Video Driver version: 186.18 Audio Adapter: Realtek HD Audio output Intel® Core2 Duo CPU E6550 @ 2.33GHz File ID: Benchmark.cli

shivanandrs
Are you familar with overclocking? You might need to send your processor speed to somewhere around 3.0GHz or higher if you could. your CPU seems to be the bottleneck.

I was also thinking that the CPU should have been higher but no I have never OC'ed anything in my life
CharmingCharlie
Why do people have to create these threads, there is plenty of information on the board that can easily be found with 5 minutes searching. The FAQ is an excellent place to start and ANSWERS your question on how to install the patch manually if you had looked.
