Midnight Special
I am looking for a new destkop PC or notebook because I cooked the Graphics card on my other laptop and it is too expensive to repair. I will buy a new one instead of giving hundreds of dollars to a friggin motherboard. I will use it for gaming. I need your suggestions. I need it to be powerful and not so expensive..(1000$-1500$ or lower) Thanks Edited July 7, 2009 by Superpowermind
anus
Trust me, if you want gaming, go for a desktop. You can get a way faster rig this way. And also make sure to buy the parts and then build the PC yourself or get a friend to do it. You can save up a lot this way. Which country do you live in? I can give you a build then. Edit: Realised you have the Cyprus flag in your profile. If you do live there, get this build: Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster 2243NW 22" Widescreen 5MS Case: Coolermaster Centurion 590 PSU: Thermaltake Pure Power 600W Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 905 RAM: Kingston 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333 PC10666 Dual Channel Video card: Gigabyte GTX285 1GB HDD: Western Digitial 320GB SATAII 7200RPM 8MB Cache ODD: Sony Optiarc SATA DVD Burner Totals to 1049.65 €. Within your budget. A killer gaming rig. Will run anything out there maxed. All the parts are from a site from Cyprus too . Edited July 7, 2009 by Warlord. anus
The PC I posted is a LOT faster than that laptop. Don't buy laptops for gaming man. Get a desktop. So much cheaper and it totally destroys that laptop.

If we try to build our own, we will fail because me and my father haven't got too much knowledge about the hardwares of pc's. Also he hasn't got time these days. If you can tell me a destkop pc name with everything in it and powerful , i'll go buy that one. Ty warlord. If u haven't got any ideas, i'll just wait for my father to be free then. anus
You know, you could do this, if you have a PC store that you know well, you could just buy the parts and then give the parts to them to assemble it for you.

anus
Phenom II is the best for your budget. If you want to go Intel, i7 is the best option but that's over your budget. I recommend Phenom II for the build, but if you still want an Intel CPU let me know. I'll see what I can do .

anus
Good choice man. AMD is really good, don't worry. And that CPU too is an excellent quad. They're really good overclockers too . Yeah it is a pretty killer PC, you'd never get a laptop with specs even close to this for the same price. You made a good decision going with a desktop . Midnight Special
No problem man. Happy to help. Have fun with the rig and give us some pics if you could . Right now, I am writing the names of the parts to a paper.. Tomorrow we will go to the store and show him the parts and give the money. Then he will bring the parts for us and it will be rady in 2-3 days Btw I will not be able to get GTX285M. I will get Nvidia GeForce Zotac 9800M GX2. Is it good? I am reading from other sites and they say that it is great! Edited July 7, 2009 by Superpowermind
anus
GTX285M? 9800M GX2? The M stands for "mobile". I thought you were getting a desktop? Anyway the GTX285 is MILES ahead of the 9800GX2. Why can't you get the 285 anyway? If the shop doesn't have it, just buy the parts from the site I linked to, get them delivered to you, then take the parts to the shop and ask them to assemble it for you. anus
Get the GTX285 man. It's WAY faster than the 9800GX2. That and the 9800GX2 still has some driver issues, and the two GPUs won't work well in some games. IV is a great example of this. The GTX285 only has one GPU, so no worries. Superb
laptops a waste of time, if you bought one it would go out of date in a few months, and you wouldent be able to upgrade Not if you only needed it for internet browsing and using office software. Their cheap and portable. But if it's for gaming or anything CPU/GFX demanding, then you really do need a desktop.
Midnight Special
laptops a waste of time, if you bought one it would go out of date in a few months, and you wouldent be able to upgrade True.. I bought one a year ago and the GPU got cooked.. pffftt. And replacing the motherboard is too expensive.. That's why I am getting a new PC.. No problems at all. But when I started gaming on it, it died!!
Cursed
I bought one a year ago and the GPU got cooked.. One of the reasons that a laptop is not as good as a desktop for gaming. Putting a lot of hot components close together with very little ventilation and then playing a demanding game isn't exactly the most ideal situation. I say good choice on going for the desktop.
