FireGod
If this is forbidden you may close this topic: My question; Is it possible to tell them apart , aside from loading the game ? Like does the box or disk have something worded , numbered etc; on it to tell its version. I just acquired an un-opened , for PS2(2 in all ) supposedly ; version 1 SA , I don't want to open them if possible...thanks.
lil weasel
SEARCH it's been asked many times. It is also very simple. Anything other than a V1 will say so on the package.
FireGod
Thanks weasel , your correct , search is best , sorry plzz forgive , I had to know quickly , as my cousin is heading to catch his flight home and I wanted him to have one of these un-opened two, I'm now certain they are the original version... btw...what does the other versions say on the box that's different ?etc; I've never seen the other versions for PS2 , I got mine at release , an am happy I had no thought to part with it thanks again, most helpfull. Girish
The PC version clearly mentions 'Second Edition' at the bottom of the box, if it's V2. So, I'm assuming it's the same for PS2 and Xbox versions too.
FireGod
I'm reading in search; a post that saying " Blond" lady on the CD art itself = v1 I'm trying to verify his info. lil weasel
I'm wondering where you can get a Un-opened Original Version One. After all these years that would seem nearly impossible, short of a hoarder.

FireGod
Ebay , its possible..I think , the ones I just acquired came from an estate I bought out...I had no idea they where in this lot, but I was jumping up an down with glee at the site of them packed away in a plain old card board box that looked as if it where just trash , glad I took a peak. FireGod
I'm wondering where you can get a Un-opened Original Version One. After all these years that would seem nearly impossible, short of a hoarder. My cousin took picture's of this place , it would be hard to say if this person was a hoarder/or a gamer who passed ...we both thought there might be a good story behind this treasure , or just as simple as a careless kid leaving them behind after a move or some such thing. The real story I could give here , would be my cousin's stash , now he could qualify for the title of master hoarder , except he has done it right. He live's on the west coast , I live in the mid-west. Before he flew back to LA we discussed the pic's I can't wait for him to send me the one's of the old house, it strangely resembles (Salvatore's mansion) the one in gtaIII. Also , I'm going to put here a few pic's of his stuff , he never loses or let's any of it get a scratch, he has rare item's in glass...his place looks like a memorial to gaming history. trickstar34
PS2 = v1 is still the PS2 version, put it in your CPU and look at the files, they are all intact. xBox = not sure, don't have it PC = v1, v1.2, v2 (says second edition)
Girish
PC = v1, v1.2, v2 (says second edition) Please note that the no more hot coffee patch is v1.01, not v1.1 or v1.2 as some confuse it to be. Also, v1.01 is not available as a retail copy like v1 or v2. As of now, only v2 copies are available which is basically v1 with the hot coffee content removed. trickstar34
Yes, but there is a v1 exe available here that we are allowed to use. I'll post it if it's OK to, but it was originally just intended for modding when you have v2. (This was made by listener and this has been allowed for a really long time, especially in modding forums, so I don't see why not we can post it here) http://public.sannybuilder.com/gtasa_exe_idb/compact.rar Password to archive is CVehicle (Note: C and V MUST be in caps) Edited July 7, 2009 by trickstar34

james227uk
i have the blond lady on my cd... theres not hot coffe, you cant see it at all. Hot coffee is disabled in all versions, even V1. Only way to activate it is with the mod.
radioman
Girishb is correct on the PC versions, but on the PS2 versions, there are 3 as well, the Original(which just has a black label across the top where it says PS2), the Greatest Hits version, which has a red box at teh top and says PS2 and below that says Greatest Hits. and there is the Trilogy pack, which has the Black bar at the top where it says PS2, as does the Original, but the discs say "trilogy pack" on them. and the Trilogy Pack for PS2 is the same as The Greatest Hits version, as the saves for both are compatible. The Pc Trilogy is the same as V2. As far as I know, there is only one version for the X-box. Hope this helps. So, basically the only way to tell the Original and Trilogy Packs apart without opening it, is the fact that it has III, VC, and SA in it(three different cases though). But the PC Trilogy has all 5 discs in one case. (There are 5 discs in the PC Trilogy, because you have 2 for VC and III-one is the install disc and the other in the play discs, and then the one DVD for SA). lil weasel
If you have Ver 1. and you didn't patch it then it's there. It is not overt, you have to enter code to unlock it. It's the Big Secret that Rockstar was going to tell us about, but somebody found it first and BLAM! all the Censors went wild.
