mike752
Since the Taliban do not care if they die because they will go to heaven, we have to capture some and make it so, in their beliefs, they can't go to heaven. They don't have to be martyred to get into heaven just do whatever they believe to be right, and killing them would be a lot easier than trying to capture them. Exactly, and having themselves killed is what they believe is right. If somehow we kill them or do something that won't allow them to go to heaven, then they eventually should stop. Seachmall
No they wouldn't, they're not doing this to be martyred they're doing this because it's what they believe their 'creator' wants. They believe they get into the afterlife as long as they kill infidels, being martyred is just a bonus. If we just kept capturing them A) they wouldn't stop, B) they'd kill more of us and C) it would take too long.
SRG ANDOR HELFKIAN
the war against the taliban. we trained them. we equipped them (pretty poorly at first). we called them our friends. we tagged them as freedom fighters, good guys. we dumped millioins and millions of dollars making them what they are in order to help them bloody the nose of the soviets, with no expectation of winning. but they did and not only win, but they brought down an empire. and when they had done our bidding we dropped 'em like a used condom. not one dime was spent to rebuild their schools, hospitals, police/fire departments. not a single nickel was spent to provide them with medicine, food, water, and housing. not a single penny or thought was spent on the people and their welfare in that region of the planet. for all that they did for us...we bent them over. after the horrors of facing the red army in all its might and glory we turned our backs on them. we left them to starve and die of disease. not just them, but their children. we left their children to that fate. it'll be several generations before the pain and the hate that we put inside these people begins to calm. look at the targets they chose. i have no doubt their attack was directed at a system that promised them, and used them, then lied to them, and abandoned them, and left them for dead. (they didn't target a nascar race, or a football game, or a cities water supply, but buildings that represented the system of the empire). it doesn't make any of it right. but, just because someone says it in a classroom or on tv doesn't make it the truth. it only makes it one side of the story. there's another side of the story out there somewhere and somewhere between the two is the truth. when the railroad backed by federal troops attempted to take the james and younger boys family farms they had to kill them to get it done. there is the potential that billy the kid will recieve a full pardon. we so much treated the native americans better than the nazis did the jews. we picked a fight with the mexicans to have a political excuse to 'steal' the sw states. and the japanese americans didn't have their civil rights violated in the 40's nor the african americans 20 years later. as for the taliban. we can't beat 'em. at best we can only hope to contain them at present standings or sincerely apologize and pay restitutions. but the later won't happen, it takes 50+ years before that even becomes an option (that way all the people that are truly responsible have died off). only time will tell if the taliban is remembered as terrorists or freedom fighters, for only the victors write the history books. we will continue to send young men to die for the empire. our wages will be taxed more and more and more. and our freedoms and liberties will become less and less and less. and in that perhaps, is the terrorism they want us to suffer. or maybe i'm just reading more into it than there is and the powers that be will fair better against these foes than the ones of their drug war.
