Car 'Bass Boost'

Just wondering what the Bass Boost is. I thought it was to control audio to a non ear damaging volume, but clearly not. I noticed no change in volume.

 

So please, what is it?

Bass Boost to me would make the lower registers of sound (like drums) heavier if not actually louder.

 

boom, boom, more of a BOOM, BOOM. as well as any other insterment of the lower registers (tubas, bass voices, etc.)

 

Like rocking your teeth, instead of screaming in your ears.

You may not notice a change because it is so slight, but there is one. A good idea to hear the change is to have a song on that has a good bass line (Personal Jesus - Depeche Mode [Radio X] for example).

Then, wait for a instrumental part of the song because, unlike what lil weasel said, it does nothing to the voices and they just prevent you from hearing th change. When you get to a good part, install the Bass Boost and you should hear a bass guitar come in and other instruments play at a lower octave.

Also, to add to what GC said, put on earphones so you can really notice it.
