Look if I had someone to tell me what they wanted, I could make it exactly how they want it. The budgetwebservices.com (I have to get everything approved at godaddy before I can do anything with it) has been my prize for a couple years. I just need some kind of good introduction for my GTA site and I'll be on my way for it. I would like to takke some suggestions for it to make things better. I don't really have someone telling me whether it's good or not, so I keep just changing layout instead of content.

Hate to keep pointing this out but you spelt "currently" wrong on your GTA site. Learn to use spell check, for the good of the internetz.

Trickstar, why do you claim to be based in Iowa but your website is registered in Arizona?

I'm taking a guess here, but I believe that is where his host is located at.

That is why, that is where godaddy is. That budget site is a server page with them.

But it's registered under DomainsByProxy.com. mercie_blink.gif I really don't understand this stuff.

That site is what it said, under construction, so I am not going to waste my time with spellcheck when it doesn't even matter till it's done.

But it's registered under DomainsByProxy.com.  I really don't understand this stuff.

Well it's with godaddy, that budgetwebservices site, if were to look around, is for setting up your site with a server which is budgetwebservices, it is a server, whats so hard to get that that is a server.

We all now trickster is lying and fighting a losing battle so why do we keep coming back to hear more of his crap.

On-f*cking-topic:

My friend told me today he wanted to be a doctor even though he despises science he said there is no greater achievement then saving another persons life and It really got me thinking about the motives of many doctors.

Alright trickstar, be honest...did you use a layout template from godaddy for that? Because your website is AWFULLY similar to godaddy's design.

Or did you use them as an inspiration?

Perhaps GoDaddy register domains with DomainsByProxy if you select that you want your details kept private (that's what DomainsByProxy specialize in).

Anyway, this is neither the time nor place for this discussion.

domainsbyproxy is a standard for US sites, and it is owned by godady, I'm not going to say anything else.

Sorry just trying to keep this mess from ruining a good topic.

My sister is currently a teacher. She has been through all the years and said to me the best is 6-8 year olds. They may kick up a fuss but its easy to win themover and plus they are more intrested in what you have to say. She said 14-16 are the worst by far as they don't give a crap and when they kick up a fuss it can get real f*cking heated and since you can't legal grab a pupil it gets even harder espically with conrtolling your anger.

Getting back on topic.

I'm hoping for a job in computing, in pretty much any aspect. Its the only thing I am any good at or enjoy doing (hardware, programing, web design, everything), sadly loads of other people are the same and jobs are now hard to find. Currently looking for some shop job as I am un-employed and money-less.

Whats more likely however is my entire life self destruting due to my sheer laziness, depression, violent outbursts and bad attitude and I'll end up an alcoholic bastard.

Can't blame you. My year at school (15-16) is full of c*nts who just argue with the teacher for no other reason then to start a f*cking argument. One time I got so bored of this big mouth brat I just stood up and went

"Can you please just shut the f*ck up, my Dad doesn't pay £30,000 a year to come here a listen to your goddamn bullsh*t. Its not the teachers fault you suck at history, its your own damn fault you stupid, spolit little bitch"

for those talking about being interested in Web Design just do it. It's not one of those things you need a degree for, just a portfolio and sometimes not even that.

Since I started designing I get people for looking for sites out of the blue, people I know tell people they know that I do sites and before you know it people are asking me to do a site. I've never done any of these jobs because I've my own sh*t to be doing but for anyone looking to get into that field: JUST DO IT.

Make it known you do web design and you'll get the emails. The fact is most companies have sh*t sites because they're still living 10 years ago, they just get some free hosting, find someone who knows basic HTML and get a $10 site. If you walk up to these companies and present your ideas I guarantee you'll have 5+ jobs by the end of the week.

F*ck it, even if you're only vaguely interested in it it's a good way to make $50-500 a pop. If you know back-end coding and databases you're looking at $500-3000 a pop, and you only have to code one generic back-end!

People need to stop pussy-footying around and get out there. That goes for everyone regardless of your interests. As mentioned before you can easily ask to work somewhere for free, just for the experience. I was fortunate to do a school year that included this and now I've contacts in the web industry, people who would be willing to take me on after I graduate.

I've been working in shops and warehouses since I left school in 2006 (when I was 16) and though three years may seem like a small amount of time to be doing the same thing over and over again; I'm already sick of the retail sector. I want to try something new and fresh. I want to do something that I'm actually good at or interested in, the only problem is, what?

I have no idea what career is right for me. I've only ever known retail work and I'm not really sure on what my strengths and weaknesses are. I have varying interests in various fields though I'm unaware of how I can change anything of them into a profession.

I need some advice on choosing a career. Advice? Suggestions? Websites? Questionnaires? Anything really.

Pick something you are passionate about, regardless of how far fetched it seems, and pursue it as a career. Maybe you want to be a race car driver, an astronaut or a video games developer. Whatever it is, accept nothing less. Anybody who tells you otherwise is poisoning you mind.

If you don't chase your dreams then one day you won't even remember what those dreams were, and you'll just be a miserable slave like everybody else. Trust me on that. I'm 27 now and I'm one such lost soul.

I'm going into a networking career, currently half way through my CCNA

then aiming to teach high school.

I had no real push behind me in high school then I met a great teacher who made me realise I needed to stop wasting my life putting up with the hum drum routine and stop going along with the mediocre teaching that seems to go on.

I don't want to be one of the "down with the kids" teachers, mainly because they never inspire anyone to learn, I want to actually push people to strive to be their best and stop accepting a basic pass and to go for that a*.

If it wasn't for that one teacher I'dve flunked school completely and have no hopes or aspirations other than keeping my dead end job.

I've got goals and aspirations and I'm striving for the best (not necessarily the quickest) way to achieve them! I'm going to be going into a 25k+ a year career in under a years time. Some people I studied with have 4 years of uni, then are probably only going to start out on 19 - 22, whereas in 5 years I aim to be on 35k+

I don't want to be one of the "down with the kids" teachers, mainly because they never inspire anyone to learn, I want to actually push people to strive to be their best and stop accepting a basic pass and to go for that a*.

I had one teacher in high school. He was actually the deputy head but also taught maths. He was by far the most strict teacher in the school. Typically, if you did something to irritate him, he'd circle you with a big smile on his face like you were about to be rewarded for something you didn't know about. Then his face would contort and he'd explode in anger.

So for a start, most were simply too afraid to forget books, not do homework or whisper in class. He demanded absolute focus. But on the flip side, when it came to actually teaching, he was by far the most passionate teacher there. He made you understand everything and had infinate patience for those who struggled.

So basically what you say is right. As a teacher your job is to inspire and obviously teach. Very few teachers can do both. Many can do neither. These things are vital to help guide a youngster.

I have an amusing little story from a time in the above class. The building we were in had big, heavy doors and the teacher often left them open during class. The reason for this was that they were excellent for slamming when he noticed somebody not paying attention. Well one day when some guy was whispering to a friend, Mr Marshall stopped mid sentence and casually waltzed up to the door and slammed it shut with an almighty bang. The draught caused by the big door caused the papers of the guy sitting nearest it to whoosh way up into the air and all over the floor. Too fearfull of Mr Marshall's wrath to exlopde into laughter, the whole class just made this scratching, croaking noise as they attempted to hold it in.

Wow, long post. Sorry guys. blush.gif

QUOTE (Doink @ Jul 6 2009, 00:01)

@DeeperRed I DO WHAT I WANT! > : (

NOW ON TOPIC

I said that and I've tried that, SORRY, but the Moderators are the Judge and Jury and they will not let that slide either. I am a case proof positive. I've been told you could wind up banned for a number of WEEKS, not just days if not permabanned.

That outta the way. Even in High School for me, career consoling and all that? I didn't have a direction or path.

I always think back to the Jim Belushi comedy Mr. Destiny, which you SHOULD see...

Jon Lovitz plays a lovable best friend who exclaims how he lets Life's River carry him along, something always winds up happening, and you wind up on your feet. Not really true, but I'd adopted that idea in many ways, I did get this far, feeling it to be pretty much true, but people have it worse then me, good people.

Hell, even people with a bright future die before natural causes and when you feel aimless with your future, you wonder, why am I still here?

I don't know if that goes beyond the scope of this, hope not, but I found my job was a challenge BUT I hung in there with it and I succeeded for nearly 20 years with one company, and I tell ya, I had never guessed on my luck with the occupation I was in.

I also never expected the rug pulled out from under me as well.

Hard to say if you can PLAN your future, as I see it.

Also need to say that when people comment that you can find something you like and make a living from it.... I don't concur

When people say you can make your dreams come true (only in America, which they also say!) I don't concur.

Also adding that in Don Felder's book Heaven and Hell, he details his rise to fame a guitarist in the Eagles, a band where all the members clashed daily. His ins and outs with drugs and being away from family. When he gets to the part about fame and fortune, mid 70s onward, he says that to him, it IS all worth it! He dabbled in Real Estate which he fell back on when the career ended with the Eagles. It's interesting to hear from a sports figure or musician to see how they addressed jobs that they had to do, as well, movie actors.

Another aspect of Felder's youth is that he lied on applications to get work, which I don't do out of principle. He did get a job working for IBM in the early 1970s doing that however!!
