Tommy-Vercetti19
Hey there, I'm buying some more RAM but i need some help. 1. Can you mix and match various brands? Like Kingston and Corsair? 2. If the answer to the question above is yes. Do i need to have the same speed and CAS latency? Any help would be greatly appreciated. My PC is a Compaq Presario SR5403UK Edited July 4, 2009 by Tommy-Vercetti19
Star-Lord
Actually, you can if they are the same in specs but it is not recommended you may experience a lot memory errors. Then again it all depends on your configuration. I know of some that have never had any problems with mixed modules.

Star-Lord
OK, just checked out your system you can use either 533,677,800Mhz DDR2 modules. I would go with 800mhz if possible.
Slamman
I'm buying Ram as well, don't mix and match speeds, latency is not a requirement to match, but SPEED is the most important. Also, brands of various sticks are no problem, we've mentioned that before. You can add memory all the time and likely not have access to the same exact one, which is the most obvious case you'll find
Democrab
Get a 2x1Gb DDR2-677 Kingston valueRAM kit, unless you're overclocking the amount of gains from 677 to 800 is negligible.
anus
Don't mix and match different brands, speeds, latencies, etc. Just get a 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 800 kit and use that .
