Slamman
I was looking for feedback on this some time ago, I'm actively looking over Office 2007 compared with a version I have of 2000 Office and a huge book on the suite, shows many graphic examples, but I'm wondering with tweaks and online support, what do you think of the various Offices, Open Office or Works. Do the changes bother you once you get used to the functions and Gui?
supermortalhuman
Me, personally, they did, yes. I won't move on from 2K3. If you want to upgrade, you might really like 2K3. Now with 2007, and the year being 2009, it's a bit old and I feel maybe a bit dated or insecure, thus I don't use M$ office anymore at all, I opt for the alternative (which remains as functional, without those new toolbars, and provides functionality not found in Office, like PDF saving with rich formatting. Also much much smaller. Powerful stuff here: http://why.openoffice.org/ http://www.openoffice.org/
ChanandlerBong
OpenOffice is nice, but if you have MS Office available there is no reason to keep using it. I speak from experience here. OpenOffice is so infuriating sometimes with compatability and weird feature and no clipart. Office, in 2003 or 2007 is considerably better imho. Slamman
I hadn't a copy of Office until I got into used computers, but Works 2000 came on my WinME purchase! haha I wonder if many people really bother with Works at all, among those here, I bet no one. Coolest aspect was an actual voice tutor built right in, if only the Paperclip helper in Office had a voice!
ChanandlerBong
I hadn't a copy of Office until I got into used computers, but Works 2000 came on my WinME purchase! hahaI wonder if many people really bother with Works at all, among those here, I bet no one. Coolest aspect was an actual voice tutor built right in, if only the Paperclip helper in Office had a voice! Don't get me started on Works. It's complete cr*p, yet most OEMs choose to install it on new PCs. And on my PC (Acer Aspire 5310) they didn't include the uninstaller, which I have heard is pretty common, so I am stuck with it. It's such cr*p and you still have to pay for it of the shelves?! Edited in case certain words were considered swear words. Slamman
No, crap and ass are accepted, just the ones they bleep on American TV. Anywho, yeah, charging for Works, Bullocks!!! I find it's better then nothing, but not anywhere as good as Office. Office is highly geared to professionals and is somewhat stodgy in getting to be useful to the laymen. I am somewhat savvy but I find this guide I bought (Fast and Easy book series) is REALLY worth the $4 I paid for it. It covers all the suites even Internet Explorer, however dated THAT is! I really like that Publisher is also in it.
leik oh em jeez!
We had Office 2003 and 2007 installed on the school computers. I always hated 2007, everytime my teacher told me that we had to use 2007 for an assignment because 2003 didn't support some feature, I found a way to do it in 2003. 2007 is over-complicated, and doesn't really offer any great improvements in functionality. All they did was change the GUI and move everything around so that you no longer know where it is.
