Slamman
I know Poopskin will dig this, about a week back I came upon, and could not resist.... Sony Cassettecorder as they lovingly referred to them. Eventually full size cassette versions became the usual Walkman size. Only thing mysteriously not working is cue and review. Play works fine, as well, record. There's always more then one problem; I was faced with a scratchy volume control, to which I applied RadioSchack tuner spray, once the case was removed to get shots. Also needed to check the belt pulleys. So, lets see your oldest, revered gear here, eh?

Slamman
It'll be a damn long time before it's worth $25 to somebody! The Goodwill and thrift shops get those all the time. I was there today and found a Xbox360 headset, and a Dell D510 laptop so not all the stuff is old-hat, but I got a GE one-speaker portable like that for my birthday or Christmas, it must have worked for a short while, but recorded in TERRIBLE, horrible MONO audio, in one channel as well. There was seriously no point in it, and it didn't get a long life of use, GE made some crap tech! hahaha
Otter
Why on earth would you want to record in stereo? Unless you're just making fun family recordings or something, or going to stuff it into a rubber head to try and simulate binaural recording, there's really no point in recording stereo.
