Maybe some rules could be implemented to stop people making topics for a measly 1000 posts, maybe only allow them for serious milestones like 5000, 10000 and so on? Good idea or not? Not always bad to think that, everyone wants some love, even if its because of something so trivial. I made one for my 7k which was I guess an achievement for me, I cant beleive Ive been here so long. But like Xcomm said, its not really that big of a deal, wait for the "trend" to die down again. Its not that bad. Just be glad not everyone makes them for their 1ks and such! Its usually people that have forum friends that they regularly talk to, mostly. Anyway, you can choose to skip them, I've only made one, and I'll wait until I get my 10K or so, which should take another three months. Anyway, I always find it a bit funny when people complain that birthday/milestone/news topics are cluttering up Gen Chat. It's a subforum with such awesome gems as "do you wipe standing up or sitting down", and slamman's official chicken eating thread. Anyone that thinks a milestone can lower the quality of that section must not be looking in that section at all. I mean it's not like a milestone topic is going to impede your ability to add to the "post the sh*tiest most unfunny pic you've ever seen on 4chan" topic. Just to even things out, pretend I ended this post with a picture of a cat doing something all cats do, but with a caption at the bottom. PяopagaиdaIиc. I remember when I made my first milestone (4k), when you posted you did mention this thing about misleading topic title which I didn't use. To be honest I agree some of the milestone topics with random topic titles can get annoying but most of the time they are obvious milestones and the news stories or "forum suicides" are all too hard to get fooled by.
